    Camera
Camera has massive picture quality and is really easy to use. Shipping was really fast.
    Celebrated, light and accessible
I affection my new D3000. I've only recently gotten big into photography, and after having joined the college Photography People and playing with what they had, as well as stealing my father's Olympus on occasion for our trips around Ireland, I NEEDED to get my own camera. As described, it's lighter than the Canon and holy for someone just starting off with digital photography, and is sick of the regular point and shoots. Can't stop me from snapping now!
The come to grief camera to buy...
I infer from the early reviews and it looked like a nice replacement for my d40x (which i had given to my daughter). Complicated camera when first holding but image quality is gravely lacking. My d40x took somewhat safer pictures (they should have been the same as they use the same sensor and this is just a repackaged d40x). The problem. I'm not sure, but blur, softness, inconsistency and lack of detail/sharpness are no fun. I've tried many lens'. The software is somehow defective. ADR which should have helped the camera slows it down terribly and does not significantly improve picture mark. (I get better pics from my S90 compact --- small sensor or not --- or primitive Pentax DSLR)).

The camera would have been somewhat disappointing a few years ago; in today's market it is inappropriate (picture quality and speed). For those interested in video and an excellent/tilting LCD, look elsewhere. Devote more and get the D5000. Better yet (and I'm a Nikon guy), get the Canon T2i.

Nikon really blew it; a D90 it is not. It's not even a Pentax K-X. Too bad.
    Utterly a great camera
In expectation of becoming a new dad, I wanted to purchase a camera that would capture all the moments of my baby boy with great and reliable distinction. So I decided to look into getting a DSLR camera. I did research on a variety of cameras, in exacting one's from Cannon and Nikon. I wanted to buy a DSLR camera that was easy to use and at a reasonable cost. I decided to achieve the Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera based on the reviews I've read, and it fit my budget.

First off, I am not in anyway an expert in taking pictures, and I never worn a DSLR camera before this purchase. So being the newbie with DSLR cameras, I found the Nikon D3000 10.2MP incredibly comfortable to use. The automatic focus has performed wonderfully in capturing clear and sharp images. The personification quality of this camera is 10X better than my old digital pocket camera as expected. There are still a lot of options on this camera I have yet to inquire, but I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun figuring out how those options can help take even better shots.

The only issue I have with this camera, and I conjecture with all DSLR's in general, it's a bit of a pain to take around because of its bulkiness. But other than that, I absolutely recommend this camera, especially for first occasion users of DSLR cameras, like me.

And so far, I haven't missed a perfect shot of my new son.

    Exceptional product Highly reccommended
Im brand name new with using SLR camera's, yet this one is simple and produces amazing pictures. I definitely recommend this camera.

It's Ok, but the scope is short
We chose this work to take with us on our trip to the Canadian Rockies (we wanted pictures of the two of us while hiking). It worked most of the age, but you need to be fairly close to the camera and need to have a direct line of sight to the sensor. Total, it's just ok.
Piece-goods e freight product for simple usage.
This yield is good for your nikon cameras and is really easy to use. Simple button for taking pictures. Only down side is that there is only one handle to use. It's the only wireless remote from nikon for most of there cameras and I wish there was more of a variety.
    Outstanding
This component works exactly as described. I've used it for more than 6 months with a Nikon D90, and never had any issues with it. I've used it up to 15 feet in another place from the camera, and never had a problem. It is simple enough for my 6 year old to use.
I Can't Have the courage of one's convictions pretend I Did Not Buy this 5 Years Ago!!
Condign purchased this remote shutter release for my Nikon D 50 and what a wonderful addition to the accessories for this camera. The traverse is over 30 feet and it allows me to set up a tripod and set up photos that otherwise would be impossible to do alone.

My children can play too, charming photos of them selves without touching the camera. This removes the threat of accidental handling of my camera. I set the tripod up and they get to have their own photo hurl.

For the 10 dollar price this item is outstanding and is an essential component of my camera bag. I would propose everyone buy one for their camera. It will allow you to broaden your range of shooting in wildlife (if you like to take those kinds of photos), and give you emancipation for self portraits and family shots without having to reset the timer function.

Breathtaking little piece of technology I wish I had bought a long long time ago!
Gigantic accessory to your compatible Nikon!
Purposes one of the best accessories for my D90! Compose your photograph (don't pre-focus), stand with the group, demand the button. My only concern is it is so small that I might inadvertently lose it. Otherwise a "must have" accessory.

    Surpass lens for the price
The is a countless lens for an armature that needs to take photos in low light. You can't beat it for the price.
    Reliable Lens for Potraits
I turtle-dove everything about this lens except AF not supported by D40 and D60, D3000, D5000 cameras. Since I have a Nikon D5000, I need to use it manually. So for the population who have mentioned cameras should think before they buy if they will be comfortable with manual focus. Otherwise It is a great deal and extraordinary quality for the price.
Fun minute lens that's totally versatile.
This lens is supreme for portraits because the 1.8 aperture lets in a lot of light. It's a very versatile lens at 50mm, which makes this the pre-eminent lens to take out on adventures when you don't want to lug around a bag full of accessories.
    This lens is sharp but..
This lens is very agreeable and great for the price. Does not work on auto with certain Nikons but doing it manually isn't that bad. Gives a worthwhile sharp image however I found the lens a little difficult to use and understand. Also, the your view is very constricted and would not be honourableness to use on a day to day basis in my opinion. I like my 35mm much better.
    Valid got it-It is versatile.
After using the Tamron 18-270 zoom, I found myself missing something. I wanted to get a macro lens, but a substitute alternatively found myself getting this lens and the AF-s DX 35mm F/1.8G and a set of extension tubes.

Certainly I must have been crazy going from an "ultra zoom" to this id. But so far after just a day and a half of playing around, I've found this lens to run circles around my Tamron lens when it comes to invariable shots.

Back to what makes this more versatile than the ultra zoom Tamron:
    - 52 mm filters are cheaper than 72 mm filters (something not to forget)
    - It takes less light to get the shot. Higher shutter speeds and F stops are possible with this lens, more than the zoom lens. I don't have to set the ISO as elaborate, so less grain with a lower ISO.
    - affordable. At $120 this is about a 3rd of the price of what I paid for the zoom. With an added amplification tube, it was still cheaper than the zoom.
    - Image quality is better. The focus is sharp. So far I've found myself using this lens a bit more than my 35mm G lens, which is also supposititious to be sharp but didn't work as well with the extension tubes.)
    - small and light weight (this also can't be overlooked, primarily if hand-held.)

This lens also has a bit of a learning curb. Being a prime, takes getting rather cheese-paring to the subject to "zoom in" and stepping back to "zoom out". With the crop factor, I get a bit of working room in front of the reduced focus. (which can also be a pro, depending on the situation such as using extension tubes.) Not being able to zoom may also be a stumbling-block in some settings like in zoos or places where you can't or not allowed to get close. It also took me a day to figure out how to get handbook focusing out of this lens. On a camera with an autofocus motor, you flip the switch on the camera to scourge from manual to auto. There is no switch on the lens itself.

    A few drawbacks I've found:
On a crop sensor camera, there is no deviating angle to be had. Getting landscapes and building shots will require some playing around with composition to modify it work. (you may not be able to get the full thing in the frame.) There doesn't appear to be vibration control on this lens so it may take a few shots to get one in convergence, but then again even with a VC lens, there may be drawbacks of its own. I wouldn't have minded if it were to cost a little more and included the lens hood. Without it I have to be thorough not to get too close to my subjects and also have to keep cleaning the filter to get rid of dust, smudges and and fingerprints. It is also not the most quiet lens to be had. But for most of my shooting, it doesn't perplex me.
    - 7 blade bokeh (please see photo added to gallery.) Light sources may show up as heptagons which may or may not be what I hankering in a particular shot. But each lens is a tool, and each tool has its own use and drawbacks.

    Still New To The Artifice
I'm new to photography. So, take this for what it's significance - this is a cool addition to one's ability to take photos. This is especially crucial when you notice that you're never in the shot. I'm looking send to seeing what this remote can do. That's why I've attempted to avoid putting a value on the range and battery time - I simply don't know... yet.
    Worsk for Nikon D40
Unvarnished and easy to use remote. Good product for $10. Just change the settings on the camera to "subtle" and push the button. The remote works perfectly for the Nikon D40. The remote is small, which is admissible. But that also means it'll likely be lost. So better to not spend so much on it. The range I tested was around 10 feet. The camera can dick the remote with a range of approximately 20-160 degrees (with remote pointing in the camera's route). So as long as you are not standing behind the camera, it'll work. Just point and shoot.
Celebrated Little Remote (works on my Nikon D5000)
This dollop remote is great! I was able to use it just minutes out of the box. (Granted, I did have to read my camera's vade-mecum on how to set the camera to use a remote. I have been able to use it with no delay and on bulb setting of the camera. Can't wait to use it some more!
    Matchless Nikon ML-L3 Replacement
First of all let me satisfy leave one thing; Nikon D5000 (one I have) has IR sensor on front side of the camera body. I believe that is the case with all other Nikon cameras. Thus if you buy the recondite it will only work if you are facing front of the camera. It is not remote fault or camera's as matter that remote is not working if you are behind the camera. It is the way how IR works.
With this in berate, I have to say this remote is awesome. I have created about 700 photos in last 3 weeks using the remote, and it worked every one time. Distance was from a foot to about 20 yards. Weather conditions where from 105F hot existence, studio photography, to 55F moist/cloudy days on Pacific coast. I am very surprised how worthy this little gadget works. Would I buy it again. Yes for sure. However, I have to says, since this operates on CR2025 battery I have no figment of the imagination that this will be able to make another 700 photos with this batter, thus I have purchased extra (and would recomand this to you too).
Irrevocably for those people that want remote that would work regardless where the location of remote is vs camera establish, look at some of the remote flash triggers that have option to be used as remote camera triggers. I have Youngnuo RF-602RX that I use as small flash triger for of camera flash. This will let you controle the camera even if you are behind it (or in another room if you want) but it will aslo payment you more. However if you are looking for simple, cheap IR remote triger that will utilize cameras IR sensor (positioned at the front of the camera's remains) for sake of taking self portraits, long exposure, landscape photography then look no paterfamilias. This one does the job.
    Opteka RC-2 Wireless Slight
Superb product. Worked easily straight out of the box. Great value and fine addition to the camera bag.

    Q: what is excel

A: As a sportsphotographer and a photojournalist, I look to either side of me at primary events. Guess how many Sony cameras I see? Zero.

The humongous majority are Canon and Nikon. The view from the stands reveals the same.

A Sony dslr, using updated Minolta-Konica designs and technology has many attractive features. But the Canon and Nikon systems and support are vast and noted.

One note: A Sony selling point is the image stabilization built-in the portion. There's a reason why professionals in the field choose stabilization intended in the lenses. It simply works better.

As for the two cameras you've named, the D80 has captured more wonderful photos.

Q: I'm prevalent to college in Sept 2010 for photography but until then i have this huge tingle to get started i want a Nikon SLR that's not too expensive but that will do a good job, because i will have to buy the Nikon d 300 before coterie starts.
    Thanks!

    A: nikon D40
    go to kenrockwell.com
    to know about it

Which is the better option in digital SLRs Canon or Nikon?

Q: I have an old guide Pentax SLR and a new-ish Canon Powershot digital point and shoot camera...but would like to upgrade to a new digital SLR. What would you commend? Canon or Nikon...and what additional lens and accessories would you recommend? Thankyou for your counsel.

A: Since you have a PENTAX, if you have any unused lenses for it you might want to look at the new PENTAX K-series DSLR cameras. The latest is the K10D which is 10mp, has epitome stabilization built into the body and accepts all previous K-mount lenses.

As to what lenses and frills you'll need that's pretty much up to you. Its a good idea to list your detailed interests. If you want to do extreme close-ups of flowers, insects, etc. then you'll need a true macro lens*. If you enjoy sports then a worthy long zoom will be needed - at least 300mm at the long end. If you yearning to do portraits, then a portrait lens equivalent to 85mm to 105mm should be on your shopping list**. If you like wide sweeping scenics then you'll requirement a wide angle lens.

As to accessories, again that depends on what your interests are. Will you demand a camera that supports an off-camera flash? Will you be using a tripod or monopod?

The only items I credit should absolutely, positively be in every photographer's possession are: A Skylight 1A (uncoated) or 1B (covered) filter which should live on every lens you own. These filters are cheap immunity for that front element. A good quality (B+W, HOYA, TIFFEN - brands I've owned for yrs.) twisted*** polarizing filter. This filter can be used to evoke dark blue skies, reduce reflections from extravagantly, glass or painted metal.

    * A true macro lens is a put-up-focal length lens, such as the SIGMA 70mm f2.8 macro. This gives you a duplicate ratio of between 1:2 (1/2 life size) and 1:1 (human being size). It is designed for close focusing and is a flat ground lens. Zoom lenses with "macro" on them are as a rule capable of a 1:4 (1/4 life size) image.

** This fluctuate, 85mm, 100mm, 105mm is based on fixed-focused length 35mm film camera lenses. Depending on your camera choice, the emancipation factor is either 1.6 or 1.5 so a 50mm @ 1.6 would be equivalent to an 80mm on a DSLR; a 70mm @ 1.6 = 112mm. Although many zoom lenses hide this range, a fixed-focal length portrait lens will be faster (perhaps f2 or f2.8) which allows you to dim the background. NOTE: Resist the temptation to use your macro for portraits unless your guinea-pig has perfect skin. The macro is simply too sharp - it will show any erratum in great detail.

*** There are two types of polarizing filters - circular and linear. The linear one will not industry with AF and through lens metering.
