    Customer Reviews

Don't remember why anyone would bother with the +1, +2, or +4, but the set's cheap enough...
Some nonetheless ago, I had a 52mm +10 closeup I'd purchased from a local Wolf Camera. Was a great little screen to experiment with. I sold the camera and lenses/filters I had when I upgraded to a D80 w/ Nikon 18-200 lens, and never did find a 72mm +10 colander until I saw this set on Amazon. But I was hesitant due to the price. I paid $30 for the one 52mm +10 filter, and here are 4 filters, including a +10, for less than $15 reckon? Recently sold the 18-200mm lens, and got a couple Sigma lenses (18-50 and 70-300), and for ever caved and added the 58mm versions of these filters. I figured as cheap as they were, even if they were pure crap, it wouldn't be a big downfall.

What I've found is the +10 in this set produces far less distortion at the edges than the one I got from Wolf. However, the image is very hazy. It's easily fixable with some differ boost, so it's only a minor annoyance (and the reason I went with 4 instead of 5 stars).

The best way to use these filters is to put them on your longest lens for greatest effect, set your lens to manual focus @ infinity, and get close to whatever your taking a picture of. Verifiable close. With the 70-300 @ 300mm and the +10 filter I can get within ~2 inches of my subject. Auto-sharply defined unclear will not work, don't even try. Instead, keep the lens at infinity, and physically move your lens closer or farther from the point to bring it into focus. The depth of field is practically non-existent at this magnification, so make your movements very circumspectly, and very shallow. Your pictures will also greatly benefit from a lot of light, ideally you'll use a ring flash, or set a sweat flash to fire when you snap your shot. On-board flash may cause more problems than it's worth, and will favourite produce a shadow from your lens. A hot-show flash will help some, but you really want the light pointing at your topic, and that's just too difficult when it's sitting back next to your face.
Burly lenses, but I couldn't completely judge the picture
I by accident ordered this size when I need a different size for my camera. The lenses are well made, so I am planning on ordering the same label in the right size in the near future.
    Titanic Value
These are a well-known buy. You can't beat the price for added flexibility. They attach easily and do their job (magnifying the image) in the end well.

Couple of things to mention- one is that of course, once these are attached to the lens one has to use manual focus. That could be a unruly for folks trying to shoot things that move quickly. Additionally, the DOF narrows significantly with the stronger magnifications. This could be a uncontrollable if you're shooting insects. Neither of these issues have to do with this manufacturer nor the vendor, but rather limitations of the product itself.

For me though, these diopters labour extremely well for my purposes (artistic, abstract photography and flower macros.) I find the functionality to be barring. My only complaint, and considering what I got for the price, it's a small complaint, is about the packaging. Personally, I would prefer a in the event that with non-scratch surfaces, but the folding, wallet design is a good one. All in all, an excellent product and a critical value for the money.
    Huge when Used Correctly.
I see that in the disputing ratings here the people simply misunderstood what these are for. They are to move your camera in CLOSER to the subject and simulate a macro lens. What they do is in point of fact act as a magnifying glass. And like one, you need to move it in and out till you find the appropriate distance for it to work aptly. This is not a tele-converter.

I find they work quite well. I have had macro lenses in which the subject takes up the sensor, a 1:1 proportion. These however allow for the subject to assault the sensor. Instead of life size these make for racetrack of super giant monster sized. Ultra macro can be achieved with the small cost of fifteen bucks.

I find there is no outstanding vignetting or aberrations. At the highest magnifications there is an extremely shallow in detail of field, so be sure you are prepared to work with that if you plan on working in those types of magnification.

Total a great product, and with macro lenses starting at $500, I encourage you to sacrifice solely a little of that macro lens fund to just give these a try and see if you can't go spend that extra money saved up on a hot companion, camera geek.
Honourable in Theory - Can't Focus Through These AT ALL.
I purchased these to try and elongate the focus on my zoom lens ... all I extended in reality was a headache. The 2x was not completely weird to work with, but anything higher ... very out of focus and blurry. Save your money for a nicer lens rather than.

    Skint
i bought this bag to handle my canon 40d and a lens i use. well it worked great for about a month and just recently it has started to scurry from the seams in 3 different places. and because its tearing at the handle i can no longer use it. im disappointed but i think all in all this bag would vocation for a smaller more compact camera or maybe even the rebel. i dont recommend for larger dslr's.
BOUGHT IT. Stingy, GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
All right value for a beginner like me. The rain cover was a must since I live near Seattle, WA. Privileged dividers have rough edges on the movable velcro dividers. I might put in a couple pieces of no-fuzz cotton material (It won't create static that attracts dust and lint or make micro scratches like many fibers.) to keep my lenses and camera from getting scratched on the velcro. I needed a inconsequential weight pack for some neck and shoulder problems. Average padding on the straps. In even so I'll, no doubt, get a larger one with more features like a tripod holder, more compartments, waist strap and fully padded elbow straps. Overall it's fine for me for a good while.
    Digital Concepts Bag
I Non-Standard real like the backpack itself, but the inserts are terrible. They're cheap and flimsy and don't hold anything in place.
    A modest little camera bag
This is a acceptable little camera bag that allows all the essentials to be carried. It holds my camera body, a beau id lens, 200mm zoom lens, a macro lense plus a couple more smaller lenses or beam. Still has room for the charging cable. One other smaller compartment to store extra batteries, pens, etc.
    Damned handy and compact
A crucial tool to carry my Nikon D80 camera and its accessories when on the go. It is light and compact. You barely undergo you are carrying it... The waterproof overall covering is very practical as an added protection even if you are holding an bumbershoot.

Heightening shown different from advertised, poor build quality
I own a D40 with the new 60mm AF-S Micro-Nikkor lens. I take surgical photos and sine qua non the high sharpness this lens provides. Frequently, however, I need to shoot extreme penurious-ups and having a fixed focus lens means I need to physically move in closer to get a magnified sentiment, which is frequently impractical or impossible during surgery. Looking at the product images advertised, I was brisk to think that close-ups would now be possible without needing to physically move in too close to the subject.

However, I was sorely dissapointed when I in reality bought and tried it.

    BUILD QUALITY
The lenses do not come with with any multi-coating, so take attention not to scratch it. They do, however, come with dual threading and I am able to attach an additional ring show adaptor on top of these lenses. However, the threads are coated with black paint that easily peels off. After impartial a couple of cycles threading the lenses in and out, bare metal is already exposed (see photos above) and makes in the wake attempts to thread in disturbingly gritty. The threads are also surprisingly sharp with serrated outer edges.

I strongly tout attaching a clear filter to prevent damaging threads on the lens itself. The filter would also put a stop to any accidental scratches to your lens due to the sharp edges.

The carrying pouch, however, is padded and folds up with velcro strips sealing it, keeping them rightly protected during transport.

    REAL-WORLD USAGE
+1, +2, +4 and +10 refers to the Diopter, NOT expansion ratio. So what is the magnification? Physically measuring the photos advertised here gives a rough 2.5x glorification, from "no filter" to +10. Unfortunately, I was only able to achieve 1.25X magnification. (See photos - I took this on a tripod to fix the hauteur to a static object - in this case, the box that the lenses came in)

A +10 diopter lens also means the focusing interval is shortened by a factor of 10. When a +10 diopter lens is used, the maximum pinpoint distance becomes approcimately 4 inches or 10 cm on my lens. The lens would not focus anything beyond 10 cm. At this distance, my SLR lens blocks off any ridicule coming from the pop-up flash itself! Fortunately I use a ring flash so this is ok for me. Make sure you have good perceptible lighting if you intend to use at this distance.

Thinking of taking living insect photo? You can draw a blank about taking small insects or butterflies as you would be forced to move way too close. I can only imagine that you may need a macro lens >150 mm for judicious usage with the +10 D converter.

Well, there is a silver lining - I now use the pouch to carry my various filters as an alternative of the rigid plastic boxes they come in.
Not so monstrous!-defeats the purpose of purchase!
well, we get along with the camera and the gorgeous lens features that we purchased, this lens kit is not quite necessary...
