Ardent HD Camera for the Price
This camera works dedicated. Full HD 1080 is choppy in places on my laptop, not the camera's fault play's back fine on TV. HD 720 plays robust on
my laptop. I really only got 2 things I don't like.
1. The lens cap is a snap on type, so don't lose it.
2. The camera is remarkably small. It's about the size of my hand so it will take some getting used to.
My advice would be if you want full HD and got a budget this one is notable. However if you got the money to spend you can get
better..

Put in order!
This camera is much smaller than I expected from the pictures, solely about pocket-sized for a guy. 1080i HD video looks great too. It has a ton of features for the price, visual zoom being a notable one. The camera claims to come with onboard memory, but don't expect to use it. It holds about 20 seconds of HD video. Don't let that sicken you away though! Get a 16GB Class 6 SDHC card (like this one: Transcend 16 GB Class 6 SDHC Take off Memory Card TS16GSDHC6E [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]), and you'll have 2 hours room. I'd make sure the card is at least Class 6 so as to minimize saving delays, this way you can rapid-fire several HD clips without waiting for the camera to write 'finis' to saving.
Saw elsewhere in the reviews that the manual is hard to find. It is indeed! Once you finally track down the PDF on Sanyo's site, that turns out to honest be the shorter "User Guide". This directs you to download the full Manual, but neglects to tell you where!
Fortunately I managed to supervise down the English manual on the Japanese Sanyo support site. Edit: See comments on this review for the interdependence couple.
The URL says GH1 but the manual is actually for all GH series cameras, this one included. Bookmark this for later if you order =)

Awful camera for a great price....
It might take some interval to make sure you are using your bells and whistles in the correct combination, but when you do, you will be impressed. Sample: yesterday there was a butterfly on some flowers out on my deck and I tried to take a close up video for it and I just couldn't get it into concentration. However, after going through the settings and adjusting for light sensitivity, macro focus, etc. the video came out Expert! I was even able to see the tongue of the butterfly with this camera. Luckily the butterfly was cooperative and hung around for 5-10 minutes for me to get organized to take such a consequential little video. As with most technical devices, if you don't learn to use it properly, then it just becomes another expensive paperweight. If you learn to use this camera, you will necessity it with you everywhere you go.

Countless HD Quality but weak in low light conditions
This camcorder is Smashing for the price!!! Comes with a lot of features including Face Chaser Technology. It is a dual camera intention it allows you to take 14MP still images as well as Full 1080P video! This is one of the very few camcorders in the 100 to 200 dollar prize range that can record 1080P video at 60FPS as opposed to 30FPS. That is an amazing ability. I am greatly surprised in the unequalled video quality of this camcorder and would recommend people to buy it if they want to transfer from Standard Delimitation and enter the world of High Def content! The camcorder operates flawlessly and is very intuitive for beginners. Note though, you must download the directions for the Sanyo VPC-GH2 of the Sanyo main website. I couldn't ask for anything better in this price range. The only major disappointment of this camcorder is the particulars that it doesn't take good low light videos. When recording in low light conditions it looks grainy and the FPS is rather leaden. I tried playing around with the exposure settings, white balance, u name it! It just wouldn't unite. That's the only down side to this camcorder! I would recommend purchasing this item!

Dual Camera - Digitial Photos (14MP) and Video (1080 60i HD)
That's what Sanyo advertises and it does the job for both. It takes major photos at 14 megapixels and does full 1080, 60i video using the mpeg4/h.264 recording set-up. It has 5x optical zoom and an additional 12x digital zoom for video. The video/photo appearance stabilizer is just OK, in fact after using it more and more, I'm leaning closer to saying that it doesn't even continue.
I picked it up from Radio Shack for $199. The one I got is black in color with a plastic casing and feels kinda for twopence but I expected that. Basically, this is your typical budget, entry-level point/shoot/deal digital camera and HD video camcorder. I'm pleasantly surprised with what it can do and I am happy with it. It works as advertised just don't look for high quality. With an 8GB card will give you 61 mins of full HD or 1690 14MP shots assuming you do one or the other, less if you do both.
If you will do a lot of video/pictures, I mention getting a 2nd battery and a higher capacity SD memory card. The battery can drain unbelievably fast. The SDHC card that I got with this camera is a Gigaware brand class 2 because it was all they had in stock. What a Goof-up. You definitely need a class 4 SDHC card or better for HD video. Also, a bit of warning, indoor video is distressing even with the high sensitivity setting on (a setting that supposed to compensate for low light) decent lighting or outside HD video should be no problem. BTW.. I played the video on VLC, video was terrible. My suggestion is to make indubitable you have the proper codecs installed on your computer to view the video files.

fetching still images
Sanyo VPC-FH1A Full HD Video and 8 MP Digital Photos (Jet)
I bought this camera and it shoots pretty videos. But im unable to take still images. When i press the photo handle, it seems it focuses and if i remain pressing it, the image in the LCD screen goes off and on. So i think that the photo is enchanted. but no images when i run the slideshow. In video mode, i keep clicking the photo button but no images.
I returned the first one reflective something is faulty. Iam not able to take pics using the second one too. Is it something iam doing wrong. Can somebody hut some light.
--------------------------
I figured out what was the issue. You need to press a bit harder after the camera focuses to take the photo.
Exhilarated with the purchase and Amazon service

I lover the camera.
This may ring like a commercial, but I love the camera. It has replaced my Sony DCR-DVD610, which is a few years old. It is in actuality small, just under the size of a soda can. The battery life is pretty amazing for my requests. I recorded a high school football game over the weekend, and it made it through the entire game in full HD 30fps.
It can get 201 minutes of words memos
196 mins on 640x480
174 mins on 720p
156 mins on 1080p (30fps)

I like all the situations I use it in,

Unimportant Sanyo delivers
For the payment, this compact little Sanyo really delivered. Sure it's not the best at autofocus or metering unfavourable spotlit subjects. (I don't know if higher-priced camcorders actually are much better at it--but think it likely they are.) But overall, the camera has a nice big lens. delivers excellent, sharp crisp images, and is uninvolved and easy to operate. I bought it used, but it came looking brand new, with all the accessories and cords and manuals and publicity still sealed. I believed I got a great bargain and am most happy with Amazon and the seller, Wharehouse Deals, Inc.

Merchandising-offs and compromises: choose carefully
This camera is full of dealings-offs: great features which are often crippled by poor implementation. I very nearly returned it, but at bottom it is getting the job done: taking pictures and videos of my 2 year-old and newborn for online viewing by friends and blood. Consider very carefully how you plan to use this camera before buying.
The big plus is its low-light performance. It may be one of the only low-priced HD camera's on the market which takes decent pictures under indoor lighting. If you plan to take videos indoors or at continually, you'll find that you have very little choice even at twice the price.
Other pluses: acceptable performance as a still camera, a cloth flash, a remote control, a 37mm threaded lens for adapters and filters, and manual tiller for just about everything.
The big minus is a complete lack of image stabilization. Electronic image stabilization is timetabled as a feature, and there is a setting to turn it on and off. But if it does anything at all, turning stabilization on just makes the perfect more jittery. If you don't have a steady hand or plan to do a lot of zooming, this is NOT the camera for you. If you are thinking about using stabilization software, be warned: the CMOS sensor uses a "rolling-shutter" (google it) which is inconsistent with software stabilization and makes fast pans look distorted.
Other minuses: the album/pause and still-photo buttons are at the top of the camera-back requiring a long thumb to reach. If you have feel discomfited hands, you will not be able to operate the camera one-handed. Given the lack of image stabilization, this is will be a act-breaker for some. I will have to buy a second still camera for my wife. The still-photo quality is poor in all modes except the 8 megapixel 4:3 evaluate, where it is surprisingly good. But in that mode the display is vertically cropped until you press the photo knob, making it difficult to line up shots. The face-tracking feature does not toil: it often chooses chairs over people. The multi-point auto-focus is easily bemused. The automatic white-balance is easily confused and seems to switch abruptly between presets preferably of performing true, continuous adjustments. The short-cut controls are limited to only few oddly-selected features. Many of the short-cut controls require secondary input (like adjusting the baring up and down) which then conflict with other short-cuts making it impossible to adjust the settings more than once.
If your main purpose is to produce online video for friends and family, then the video quality is very good: preferably than what you can get on cameras that cost twice as much. For computer displays you do NOT want any interlacing and 60 fps is a waste, so the availability of a 30p settings is key. Many cameras do not have that. The video quality at this camera's 1080/60p setting is not noticeably better than at its 720/30p placement. If you are planning to shoot sports or other fast motion, this is probably not the camera for you: the rolling-shutter CMOS intrude causes severe distortion with fast-motion or pans.
The viewing angle is a bit tapering if you need to get close to your subjects, such as in a small room. But it is not nearly as bad as many consumer-grade camcorders. (The 37mm lens front is threaded, so you can connect a wide-angle adapter. Those can be purchased online for as little as $40, though the cheap ones display a lot of lens-flares.)
On the whole, the camera has a huge list of features, many of which you won't find on other camera's at this price apex. But many of those features are crippled by poor design, requiring work-arounds and compromises. I dubious that a great many of the camera's problems could be fixed with a firmware update, especially the lack of icon stabilization. But as far as I know there hasn't been one yet and there may never be one.
I spent many hours trying to find a camera that could take decent indoor video becoming for online viewing and was really shocked at how few choices there were for under $500. This is pretty much it at the moment, so if that's what you requisite, and you don't have small hands, then this camera may work for you. But if you are looking at that huge list of features and judgement "how can they do all that for so cheap?", the answer is: they didn't. You can make it work, but you have to work at it.

These things last much longer than the forth away batteries that I used to use. They charge very quickly too.
I am very happy with this purchase.

Making eneloop my new archetype
I am in the function of switching all my battery-powered devices over to the AA- and AAA-sized eneloop batteries by Sanyo. Unlike permanent NiMH batteries, they hold their charge well for a long time. This makes them suitable for maritime and aviation handheld radios, which are usually backup radios and don't get frequent use. They also shine in good rechargeable applications, such as large camera flashes like the Nikon SB600 and SB800, and have the new advantage of not being dead when you need them just because you didn't charge them right before you left for your kid's boarding-school Christmas play. Ask me how I know. Oh, and I'm using the La Crosse BC-700 charger, which works marked and gives better feedback on charge status than many other chargers.

Sterling for the price...
Gigantic camcorder for the price, lots of fun and great moments with the family. As far as for picture taking, I'd give it a C+ even though its a 10mp. All in all, my exclusive of experience with this is a very positive one, with a nice smooth transition from miniDV to Flash Card/HD. I Decidedly recommend this camcorder for someone not wanting to pay a lot of money for a high quality portable camcorder and see this component very comparable to any camcorder in the price range of $200 to $500 dollar range, duly a steal at $130 and a pleasant way to transition.

Not thrilled, but at this evaluate not unhappy
Auspicious now the price has been discounted by sixty bucks so the price can't be beat for a hd, pocket camcorder with a 5x zoom.
The image quality is OK, even indoors, but you have to hold the camera very very steady. The image stabilization does nothing, as far as I can bid. It seems odd that you need a tripod to get steady shots on a camera this light, and so obviously designed for portability.
The camera seems moderately flimsy, especially the battery and flash card covers.
Focus is very slow, so anything that is heart-rending is going to be a little blurry until it stops moving, even if the camera itself is totally still.
Despite the comparatively low quality, the camera is light weight, easy to use, easy to pocket and carry around, is entertaining enough to be used with the original gorillapod and has plenty of manual settings to help you get the most of it.
I can't recommend it, but it's quite not a terrible purchase for the money.
Update: Just used the camera at the beach, so pale was super. The picture quality was very good, color balance was good too. I used the snow & ground scene select. But jitter is still pretty bad. The stabilizer is worthless. You have to hold this camera confirmed.
Update2: There is no "pause" feature when recording video. You can turn off the recording and then start another recording, which creates multiple files, but you can't wait in the middle of recording and then resume it. For all I know this is common with other pocket camcorders, but it seems odd.
Update3: I acclimated to the camcorder to record a school play. This is a challenge for just about any camcorder - recording while sitting back in a obscure theater, zoomed in on a brightly lit stage. The CG10 didn't do a phenomenal job, but it also wasn't too bad. Again, anything that moved was hazy. Wide angle resulted in very high contrast, where the theater lights whited out most of the detail. But zooming in, using a tripod, worked well. Features were purify and the color balance was tolerable. The 5x zoom makes a big difference. I can't imagine that the flip, with no zoom, would have recorded anything watchable. BTW the CG10 has a guide focus option that lets you set it to infinity, essentially creating a fixed focus. That worked out well as I'm stable autofocus would have had trouble with the harsh lighting and high zoom.

Overwhelming picture, slow focus.
For the monied nothing I have seen comes close. Video is awesome, but focus is slow. Still picture prominence is acceptable but not on par with my dedicated still cameras. Slow focus aside, the video is beautiful. Camera is unhurried to use. Well worth the money.

The Particle Camcorder that could.
I needed a camcorder for training purposes. Gramophone record, Review, Record again, etc. Didn't have the budget for a mid-price cam and looked at Flip & Kodak models but determined I wanted more. Many members of the yahoo video group really like and recommend this and so after examination around bought it here on Amazon. It's terrific. Portable, good sound and excellent pics/video. Keep abreast of the advice on other posts to disable some features. Bought a couple xtra batteries on ebay, a lite-value tripod here on amazon, and I'm pleased. I'm also particular. BTW, before I'd invest $800-1200 in a prosumer camcorder, I'd deferred and watch the development of the DSLR's coming out with xcellent Video capabilities. The prices will stop in withdraw from with scale.
