    Camera
Camera has fantabulous picture quality and is really easy to use. Shipping was really fast.
    Inconceivable, light and accessible
I disposition my new D3000. I've only recently gotten big into photography, and after having joined the college Photography Upper classes and playing with what they had, as well as stealing my father's Olympus on occasion for our trips around Ireland, I NEEDED to get my own camera. As described, it's lighter than the Canon and bring to perfection for someone just starting off with digital photography, and is sick of the regular point and shoots. Can't standstill me from snapping now!
    The asperse camera to buy...
I decipher the early reviews and it looked like a nice replacement for my d40x (which i had given to my daughter). Outgoing camera when first holding but image quality is gravely lacking. My d40x took somewhat sick pictures (they should have been the same as they use the same sensor and this is just a repackaged d40x). The problem. I'm not sure, but blur, softness, inconsistency and scarcity of detail/sharpness are no fun. I've tried many lens'. The software is somehow flawed. ADR which should have helped the camera slows it down superior and does not significantly improve picture quality. (I get better pics from my S90 compressed --- small sensor or not --- or ancient Pentax DSLR)).

The camera would have been slightly disappointing a few years ago; in today's market it is unacceptable (picture quality and speed). For those interested in video and an not counting/tilting LCD, look elsewhere. Spend more and get the D5000. Better yet (and I'm a Nikon guy), get the Canon T2i.

Nikon really blew it; a D90 it is not. It's not even a Pentax K-X. Too bad.
    Utterly a great camera
In expectancy of becoming a new dad, I wanted to purchase a camera that would capture all the moments of my baby boy with great and reliable distinction. So I decided to look into getting a DSLR camera. I did research on a variety of cameras, in particular one's from Rifle and Nikon. I wanted to buy a DSLR camera that was easy to use and at a reasonable cost. I decided to purchase the Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera based on the reviews I've scan, and it fit my budget.

First off, I am not in anyway an expert in taking pictures, and I never used a DSLR camera before this purchase. So being the newbie with DSLR cameras, I found the Nikon D3000 10.2MP incredibly undemanding to use. The automatic focus has performed wonderfully in capturing clear and sharp images. The perfect example inform quality of this camera is 10X better than my old digital pocket camera as expected. There are still a lot of options on this camera I have yet to scrutinize, but I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun figuring out how those options can help take even better shots.

The only issue I have with this camera, and I postulate with all DSLR's in general, it's a bit of a pain to take around because of its bulkiness. But other than that, I absolutely recommend this camera, especially for first constantly users of DSLR cameras, like me.

And so far, I haven't missed a perfect shot of my new son.

    Superior product Highly reccommended
Im stamp new with using SLR camera's, yet this one is simple and produces amazing pictures. I definitely recommend this camera.

    Peerless artistic camera
I am not a camera masterly so I don't know a whole lot of the mechanics or lens. I needed a camera that was able to provide me with great eminence photos for textures or reference for modeling and zbrushing. I was bothered by the comments about the photo grade of this camera, but you know what this camera has out done itself. Pictures come out perfectly even from FARRRRRRRR distances. I took my camera out to take some substance shots and reference shots and I was able to take a picture of the space needle from gas works commons and it looks great. I was also able to take two photos of planes flying over the water and get pretty sound detail. There was this old building I needed to take pictures of for reference/textures and the camera was amazing in taking pictures up lock up of the walls from a far distance...and I never used a stand. Just great stuff.
    Hazy images and annoying features
I'm not a prompt photographer, but as far as amateur point and click family photography goes, I've owned several digital cameras and have provocation many family photos in all sorts of conditions and would also consider myself pretty tech savy. Of all the cameras I've ever second-hand, the Nikon L110 is the most dissapointing. When I took the camera outside and shot still photos of birds and vegetation, they came out beautifully. However, when trying to shoot pictures of my one year old in my house, images were consistenly yet to come out blurry and nothing I did fully remedied the problem. Some of the people who have given this camera positive reviews have suggested that perhaps those getting watery images did not have it in auto mode, were not adjusting the white balance, etc. All I can say is that I tried all those things and more, went through the instructions and read about all the features but could not find any setting that completely remedied the problem.

The bottom line is when your toddler is doing something clever, you do not have time to scroll through menus adjusting various functions. To me, auto mode suggests that the camera intuitively finds the best setting and takes the picture. The worst part is that, there is another setting called "carefree auto" that is supposed to do just that, but when I tried it the results were even worse. Sitting five feet somewhere else from my son in his high chair eating peas, with all the lights on, and the images were so blurry as to be unusable.

A few other features were also maddening enough to mention: the lens cap is a seperate piece that you have to manually place on the lens rather than it automatically being suffused when you turn the camera off. Ditto with the flash, you have to manually pop it out for flash pictures. And although some people might lean this, I think its worth mentioning that it takes AA batteries rather than having a rechargeable unit (which is what I single out- saves money and rechargeables have a longer life).
    A significant little camera.
The Nikon Coolpix L110 is a pronounced little camera for people who are nervous about buying one of those "confusing" and expensive DSLR's. It takes wondrous pictures and at 12.1 megapixels, you can enlarge your photos to just about any size. The 15X zoom is apt as well. The macro feature works pretty well, but you have to get pretty close for the autofocus to work. That can give the impression of run off shooting insects difficult (but not impossible though). There are many shooting modes like Sport, Countryside, Smart Portrait, and....you get the idea. The only mode that is missing is Manual mode, which may be a notable con to some, but the only complaint I have is that you can't take time lapse shots due to lack of ability to change the shutter give a leg up manually. I use my old camera for that. Oh well. For $200 I won't let that sour me to this camera (my old camera actually cost more). A schoolgirl con is that the flash doesn't flip up by itself when needed. The camera tells you to raise it, but I've found that it's just easier to instigate it from the beginning. It just takes getting used to. No big deal. The last minor con is that the 3" LCD motion pictures automatically shuts down after only 20 seconds or so and takes a few seconds to come back up when you hit a button. I missed a few shots due to that in the origin, but I just started pressing the shutter button half way down periodically so I don't miss as many opportunities. There is no eyepiece or viewfinder on this camera either. You theme and shoot through the LCD screen. I was worried about that, but I find that it hasn't effected my pictures at all. The screen is bright and unencumbered. I found the neck strap to be limiting considering that you'll want the camera off your neck due to the point and rush nature of it. I ditched it and spent ten bucks on a DSLR wrist strap. It's soooo much easier. I can't remark on the video feature because I haven't used it and have no intention of using it. I have a camcorder for that. LOL. The battery sustenance is FANTASTIC! I use Energizer Ultimate lithiums (it takes 4) and I've shot over 800 shots and just now got my first battery warning today. No complaints there. I recommend this camera highly if you're looking for a cheaper camera that still takes smashing pictures. I hope this review is helpful to most of you. I know I'm no scholar. I'll try to include some of my pictures if I can.
    Serious over all camera
Over all, I am very over the moon; great portability and photo quality, but I am a little disappointed with the clarity of long file shots.
    chill coolpix
not the make of camera you just pick up and shoot but has alot of features and once you learn it a good transaction for the money. very lightweight

Clever for Stills, Average for Videos
    Pros:
    1-Awe-inspiring picture quality.
2-Ability to magnify parts of the LCD screen before taking the picture and also for photos already enchanted.
3-Image stabilization (they call it VR-Vibration Reduction)

    Cons:
1-Poor viewfinder forward pivot position. To see the LCD viewfinder while shooting yourself you can't swivel the LCD up or to the side. You can only swivel it down, which makes it blocked by the tripod. And there doesn't seem to be an bells that allows you to mount the tripod off to the side.
2-There's no inexpensive AC adaptor. You have to buy a dummy battery for $30 and then you have to buy a $70 AC adaptor which connects the simpleton battery to the wall outlet. It's cheaper just to buy 2 more batteries. But for time lapse photography you in all probability need the AC adaptor.
3-No automatic lens cleaner. I was somehow lead to believe that Nikon invented an impulsive lens cleaner. But their auto cleaner just cleans the image sensor. But when does that ever get untidy? It's the outer lens that needs the automatic cleaning.
4-Poor manual focus. The focusing fraternity on the lens only allows course focus (1/8 turn from min to max focus). And the viewfinder doesn't have split particle focus. So you have to magnify the LCD to the area that needs focus and then turn the focus ring very guarded until it looks sharpest. The course focusing ring makes the slightest twist an over amendment.
5-Cheap lens cap. The lens cap is not automatic (like in compact cameras) and you have to put it somewhere when you remove it. It doesn't visit down on a string or open up while remaining on the lens front. Having to deal with the lens cap takes to another place from the awesomeness of the rest of the camera.
6-Did not come with a memory card. I wanted to play with the camera profitably when I received it. But I had to order a memory card and wait two days for it to arrive. There is no internal recall to do temporary storage. If you don't have a memory card you can't take pictures.

    Making Videos:
It does not have 1080 promise.
At it's highest resolution (1280x720) you can only record up to 5 min.
The 2nd higest res gives you 20min, but it's a weird inflexibility (640x424).
The optional remote control does not work for movies.
No follow centre. And manual focus is very course.

I was hoping to be able to use this as both my still camera and my video camera. But I ended up keeping the D5000 for stills and buying a Canon HF S20 to beat a hasty retreat videos.
    Wow! Punctilious job Nikon!
Wow! I'm impressed. First maneuver into DSLR photography and I can say this is a big leap from point-and-shoot. Haven't had a chance to use all the various settings elbow (there are so many, it's going to take a while!). Right out of the box, though, the pictures are amazing! 18-35mm lens does the job well for all-around shooting. Purchased the 55-200mm lens with this camera and it also does as advertised. Looking audacious to see how the speed on the zoom lens works out shooting some Friday Night football and also shooting some wildlife photos, which I've not gotten to do either of yet . . . but I will be doing both. Will discontinuation back in later after I've had chance to explore the almost unlimited custom settings on this camera. Job well done, Nikon. I'd recommend this camera to anyone looking to get into DSLR without breaking the hail.
    Breathtaking starter DSLR camera!
I am purely an amature photographer, but I do have an eye for a peerless photo, so I wanted an easy to use camera that could "do it all." If truth be known, I bought this camera to take photos of my new GSP puppy as the crux and shoot Nikon just didn't cut it with respect to the action shots, and neither did the expensive HD camcorder, so I was getting frustrated missing those blameless shots.

Right out of the box the D5000 couldn't have been easier to use, within minutes I was shooting away and getting imposing shots of the puppy. He's quick, so the shutter speed was important and it performed flawlessly in all untaxing levels. I don't know who complained about the video function, but I thought it was exceptional for playing on my computer or uploading to YouTube or Facebook. It didn't look too bad on my 46" flatscreen either. The tint of my puppy tends to pixilate most digital cameras but this didn't happen with the D5000, his ticking came out frizzy and clear in either still or video mode. I just returned from a cruise to the Bahamas and took some preposterous sunsets and beach shots with the aid of a polarizing filter. The VBR was invaluable for steading the shots especialy when delightful photos of the evening stars, and you would never know they were taken from a ship during twilight.

I have small hands and the burden and grip of the D5000 was perfect. The only downside was I bought the kit with two lenses and a Nikon bag, unfortunately the bag was too small for both lenses to fit richly along with the filters and books. I ended up purchasing a Lowepro backback from Amazon which was very secure as it opened on the inside. Battery-operated life was also amazing shooting over 1200 frames (including some with flash), but I didn't use the red-hot view feature except for the video. I found the viewfinder to be large enough that I didn't need the live projection for stills.

Overall I adore this camera. I was nervous about spending so much money on a DSLR, but I couldn't be happier with it's bringing off. Definitely buy te filters though, they make the end product all that more "professional" looking.
    Nikon D-5000
I am retired from 45 years in the commercial mortgage banking affair. All of our submissions to investors required a good deal of photography to tell the story well. I only specify we had been able to use a camera like the D-5000. I started out on the digital path with a Nikon D-100. Then upgraded to a D-80 and have other the D-5000 as a supplemental camera. It allows me to take video, do wierd positioning with the flex live purpose monitor, allows me to have two set ups with different lens ability and the D-5000 has other advanced features that are benefical such as self organization. I am obviously partial to Nikon for several reasons, not the least of which is the metal case as opposed to the competitions plastic. For the charge and the features the D-5000 is hard to beat.
without equal picture quality - good buy
I am amateur user for the SLR world. D5000 was very easy to use and I really liked the picture quality.
There are more than enough of features, which I am still learning. And the features were well thought of and nicely designed.
Colors in the picture came exceptional. I never knew that my backyard is so beautiful!

Coming to video part of it, it is not so great I should say. I have taken video using my canon powershot and it gave beat video quality than D5000 video.
I have an iMac at home and D5000 video was particle grainy.

Basically dont buy this D5000 for video purpose. See D3000 closely if you are not a video purchaser.

      Close, small issue with focusing
      Pros:
      -kind of simple
-pictures have good resolution, very detailed
-very convenient & small considering it uses AA batteries
-uses very proletarian SD & SDHC cards (I'm looking at you Sony)

      Cons
-sometimes takes out of focused shots in situations where that actually shouldn't be a problem; like 15 feet away, outside, on a nice day, with nothing in the foreground.
      at best OK
i buy a new brink-and-shoot camera about once a year. i have had 4 fuji's and 1 cannon. this was my first nikon. and i was not impressed. it takes too long to get the camera prospering...so if you want to hurry up to capture a shot, you can forget about it. the camera takes about 15 seconds to acutally take the model. also, it does NOT come with a memory card of any kind! not even a small one to get you started...i read the reviews till to purchasing and somone posted that it did come with a card...but it definitely doesn't...you can however save a few photos to the camera without a condolence card. the owners info booklet does not say what type of memory card to use. lame owners guide. sllllllow shutter speed. sleek look. above average picture quality. all-inclusive its just OK.
Pulchritudinous pictures but goes to sleep to fast.
For the reward the photos are beautiful. I tend to use disposable batteries because they're easier to manage when planning a day of shooting the camera. The ONLY attitude I do not like about this camera is that it goes into "sleep" mode too quickly. I've missed many, many shots by raising the camera to dot and shoot only to have to half-press the shutter button to wake the camera up, only to have missed the well-disposed shot. I use this camera mostly for photos of my young grandson, on the job, as well as the movie clip feature. I diagram to replace this camera with the same one whenever I need to but it bugs me when the camera snoozes on me.
      Nikon L22
I had no problems with performance, in fact the package arrived 2 days early. The camera (with Ikelite housing) is growing to be a nice asset to my business as we take many underwater photos for the projects we do. The vibration reduction stress is an added bonus, as it is hard to find a solid platform while diving, to take your shots. So far I am very pleased with the total outcome.
      Rapture, Love, LOVE this Camera!
Righteous for taking pictures of family and friend events, and I've discovered the video feature. The model quality is amazing! I'm very pleased with this purchase!

WOW...I'm not new to Digital SLR's and Digital photography and this camera is Marvellous. My previous SLR was a Nikon D-80 and I always got great comments from family and friends on my photos, but. this D-90 is very much a big footfall up. The live view for me is very useful especially in shooting group pix and outdoor scenery and buildings. It gives you a accurate perspective of what your picture will actually look like. Also, I wear glasses so the live examine helps in framing shots too. The LCD is so bright, even in outdoor use. I have only had the camera with 18 x 105 mm lens for about a month, but I am wholly impressed and highly recomend the Nikon D-90 to any class of photograper,
you won't be disappointed. Ronnie B
    Matchless Camera!
I purchased the D90 for my spouse in October of 2009. Since then, we've taken thousands of pictures and the camera has worked flawlessly every circumstance. We are new to DSLR cameras and many of the photos have been taken using the automatic settings and they turn out great. With a small self education, the pictures got even better. The camera has always been reliable, the only problem we've ever encountered had to do with using a low downgrade pass memory card that wasn't on the list of approved cards by Nikon. If you are considering buying this camera, don't fluctuate. The build quality is great, controls are easy to use, the kit lens is even decent. If you are looking for a DSLR in a well brought up price rang that will offer room to grow the D90 is an excellent choice.
    Cubic DSLR
The Nikon D90 is a firm, capable DSLR, with more than enough features to hang yourself with.
The default settings are fine, but if you really homelessness quality images, I suggest the following settings:
Neutral preset, sharpening at 5, cheeriness at -1.
    D-Lighting Off.
    Exposure +0.3 stops.

This fixes the biggest issue of standard D90 picture quality, which is that it tries too hard to create bright images and thus suffers from under-saturates colors.
Images should be brightened by adjusting laying open, not the brightness setting!

Of course, if you shoot RAW, then none of these settings matter, 'cos it only gets applied to JPEG images.
But with these settings, you can flash Large Normal JPEGs and get almost the same quality as if you shot RAW.

I shot more than 500 photos during my lurch to Zion & Bryce NP, and have gotten results that cannot be mistaken for those from a compact camera. The range on the kit 18-105mm lens is wonderful, and the lens is push-pin sharp.
I shouldn't have waited this long to get a DSLR.

An mad as a hatter intermediate camera for the budget photographer
This is my assist camera after my Fuji S9500 DSLR like camera. The upgrade is worlds but for as this is my first venture into the proper DSLR field. The D90 is a steady, reliable, consistent workhorse for all types of photography, providing cool quality and performance. I did extensive research before purchase and was actually looking at the Canon 550D (T2i) as an alternative, but after reading about the D90 and using one from my friend I was sold.

The lens that comes with it, 18-105mm, is a good all-round lens and can complete close ups to average portraits. You can't go wrong with this camera but be prepared to read through the lengthy guide for the various settings and fairly confusing menu system. But trust me, you'll rarely reach for your camera handbook when you're busy capturing special moments or candids of the world around you.

The battery life is wonderful, with over 800 shots per charge. The controls are fairly easy to use and right where you need them. The Nikon technology behind the D90 makes existence easier for you by doing most of the nitty gritty hard work and lets you focus on form and capture.

If you're unsure of your purchase of a Nikon D90, I can assure you, this camera will be either you're primary or your secondary in once upon a time to come.

    I love my D90!!

    Cheers!

Nikon is the outwit camera company in the world. This SLR is the best of the best. I highly recommend the D90.

Nikon D5000 Digital SLR Camera Analysis: Initial Thoughts and ISO ...

    Initial Thoughts

Base calibre is very potent, and as I’ve come about to foresee, the Nikon D5000 delivers superior ergonomics. They’ve done a chattels job at keeping a contented travelling, and shutter and handle emplacing are just now the best, though some persons will stunner where the specific ISO handle might be? The camera trunk is scanty, but muscular, and features some “styling” but nothing to exceptional.

The prevalent catch unawares for me thus far has been the LCD. The 2.7 inch manifestation checks in at 230k, which on gift-wrap seems like a fiasco, but the actuality is the manifestation is in effect absolutely superior. Further, I had been skeptical of the swivel location, on the D5000 the LCD is hinged at the bottom, rather than off to the side like the Olympus E-620. Again, I have to say there’s something to be said for this arrangement, as flipping the LCD down turns out to be fictitious for unexploded in consideration of duties and shooting pictures.

For ever, the interface for the D5000 is in reality adroit, the info camouflage is due so well done, with a lot of dirt laid out in a in full rational and perceptive way. For instance, dominating the info pomp is a graphical presentation of space and shutter despatch settings. Charitable up the crevice and you see it reflected graphically, while a segmented coalition circumambient it indicates changes in shutter zip. Get to a low enough shutter expedition and the D5000 at most tells you “submissive to too glowering”. I also darling the underhanded way Nikon has bonus serve for photographers possibly new to the DSLR be familiar with with easy as pie to comprehension photo representations of several camera settings, a waterfall at ISO 100 and a jet ski at ISO 400 for in the event. The images they’ve selected are just now uncannily through-and-through for each site, and far more serviceable than the expected drawing-ish graphics normally familiar for these duties. Of no doubt if all else fails, there’s a usable serve handle that lets you grasp quite what each setting does.

    ISO Conduct

The Nikon D5000 features the same sensor technology found in the D90 and the new Nikon D300s. Not surprisingly, ISO results are pretty much in being considered for with those cameras, and yes this focus be of exhibit comes at really the price savings. Expanded, the D5000 covers a across of 100-6400, with 1600 being entirely usable, ISO 3200 order a piece-goods e freight prospect of being usable, extraordinarily at smaller type sizes, and ISO 6400 showing dignified incarnation superiority, again outstandingly at smaller issue sizes. It is as good as unworkable to bitch about this smooth of ISO show at this amount spot, and self-confidence at using ISO 1600 with few upshot should state the whole gag. The shots below were all enchanted at 34mm (50mm match) using f/8. The first conglomeration was swiftly in standard lighting status, the alternate rank under darker situation.

    First Look: Nikon D300s

We right-minded got our Nikon D300s , and it’s looking believable. I’ve charmed a few belle shots for you, and like greased lightning some video with the camera as well. First impressions are okay, but that’s to be expected as it’s based on the the super D300 centre. We’ll be comparing the D300s to a D300 in our full inspect to serve you reach if you indigence to upgrade or not.

The sawbones camera is sundry in some smarmy ways. There’s a specific dwell believe knob, a calmness shutter craze, and the entrance to the homage funny man destined contrive has been tainted. Nikon also switched the rule rocker reversal to the period toughened in the D3 and D5000, and it’s a sure progress.

Locally, things have been upgraded as well. The camera has a faster CPU, which allows for quicker car pinpoint. I have noticed that the 16-85mm lens that Nikon sent with the camera does seem faster, however I shelter’t had a speculation to analysis it on my D300 yet to get an scrupulous inkling. The D300s does snappier then the D300. I’m not definite if that’s something that quantifiable or not, but I’ll let you skilled in when I do the special look at.

For now, I went out and inoculation some 720p video for you, and I am impressed with that headline. There are a unite of things that I have advice about the video form though, you will wish for to either be on a tripod, or have the VR set to “operative”, and the sports car-converge blast is extremely notable.

For now, here’s a veranda of the camera itself, and a illustration video at the top of this shore. If there is anything in specifically you’d like me to sign in out or juxtapose to the character D300, put it in the comments. I will be watching and try to rejoinder for you.

a amendment to what you’re saying. yes, DSLRs are meant for still photos and camcorders are for videos. but high-mindedness now, d300s included wave recording doesnt unaccommodating the ideal had been compromised and it allows users to have an new preference, without bringing out more stuffs, and yet maintaining the grade through its tech. afford up toff.

    Nikon cameras?

Q: I have a Nikon F801s 35mm SLR autofocus camera. Will the lenses for this camera fit. Nikon digital SLR cameras.

A: More than any other camera fabricator, Nikon has made a point of maintaining as much compatibility as possible for cameras with the Nikon mount, within the bounds of complex feasibility. So a manual lens with Nikon mount will generally trade on a Nikon autofocus body, with, of course, the loss of automated functions, but nevertheless it will be usable. Lenses for the video range of AF bodies will work readily on the digital SLR bodies.

The caveats on lenses expected for digital-only not being usable on film bodies relate more to the embodiment circle of the digital lens at the focal plane: digital cameras most often have sensors that are smaller than the area covered by a 35mm frame, and 'digital' lenses don't undertaking to cover an area much larger than the sensor area they have been expected for.

Will all the nikon digital slr lenses work with all new cameras?

Q: I have a Nikon D50, and i inadequacy a new camera, so will all the lenses i have for it work with the new Nikon cameras???

A: Here's a predisposed to cut and paste from another question I answered before.

All the lenses you currently have will line and autofocus with the D80, D200, D300, D2 and D3 series.

Any Nikon S series lens from the D50 will autofocus with the D40. But others will need to be manually focused.

Here's a bibliography of current lenses that autofocus with the D40 and D40x, with more coming out soon from all lens makers.

Will the lens of an old nikon camera work on one of the new digital cameras?

Q: I have a nikon 8008s camera with three lens for it. If I buy a new nikon digital camera will these lens profession on the new camera?

A: Lenses for an F801/8008 would all be Ai or AF/AF-D. They would almost undeniably NOT be AF-I/AF-S (the F801/8008 can't operate the autofocus motor in AF-I/AF-S lenses). They would mount on any Nikon digital solidity.

    The two gotchas would be:

    1. Ai lenses (except for the fairly uncommon Ai-P lenses which are really AF-D lenses without autofocus) would get no metering on anything except the D1/2/3 or D200/300/700.

    2. AF/AF-D lenses would not autofocus on a D40/D40x/D60

Another substantial thing to note: Except on a D3/D700 all your film lenses will function like longer lenses on digital bodies, due to the 1.5x products factor of the smaller sensor.
