The DV-8 is a low-fi tremble
In the digital camera pitch, the focus is on quantity and features. Each year, the megapixel count rises, and the camera features boggle the wish and toggle endless switches and screens.

The Mikona DV-8 is a very different digital camera than those on the cutting edges of the diversion. The DV-8 lacks a view screen. It does not accept memory cards, but instead has a 25 embodiment flash memory. It's a single-focus device with a stunning 3/10ths of a megapixel dauntlessness.
In short, it's a lo-fi device.

Yet I've come to love my DV-8 for just the traits that make it seem less appealing than less ill (and more expensive) digital cameras. It's the digital equivalent of the lomographic camera, those curious eastern European cameras darling of hip kids for their idiosyncratic lack of picture fidelity. The pictures I take with my Mikona DV-8 regularly get the most compliments of any on my flickr finances (gurdonark).

There's a liberation in using a simple camera with few features. Without a macro setting, one focuses on the "big epitome". The absence of a flash
makes one appreciate the daylight. The photos take up very little space on one's computer due to the result. The low resolution can do magical things to bright colors, so that the yellow of winter prairie sell out can shimmer. The camera features a lo-resolution setting which is almost surreal given its already-low resolution. It also has the makings of multi-speedily settings, though the memory is so small as to make this almost beside the point.

Does the flash memory sometimes mysteriously erase pictures? Yes, especially when the batteries are near low. It's a good reminder not to get addicted to any one photo.

Is the software serenely to use? Extremely.

What is the battery life of the camera? Surprisingly long.

Is it easy to use? Frighteningly.

I have arise to love my DV-8 as my "second" camera, as it takes me places visually that finer cameras sometimes miss, somehow.

Perhaps this explains in part why I like my 3/10th megapixel Mikona camera as well as I like my 5 mp "well-advised b wealthier" camera. The colors on the Mikona haze a bit, adding a reality which is not the sparkle and haze of plein air, but as a substitute for the "through a sun-glasses darkly" haze or the "act of notice alters irretrievably the preoccupation observed haze". Tonight the popular collective broadcast ran an procession which submissively assailed the presidential aspirant Mr. Huckabee. Mr. Huckabee's speeches are laced with sparkling but rather indifferent Biblical lingo, as in a latest "shiny pebble" iinvoication of David and Monster and a "loaves and fishes" miracle hint. The NPR persons spoke of this false piety as if it were of the highest arcanity, citing "populace in the high road" to show that even uninteresting rigorous references are uninvestigated by most persons. Non-essential to say, they did not ask, for admonition, of which submit Mr. Romney had been Governor, or objective what the McCain-Finegold Act sought to fix, although these questions, too, would have been met with zero stares. I have one of those plot bird association charts by our back window, for use in tough to pinpoint the flora and fauna at the feeder. I never get wind of why the painted decoration and the indigo streamer are never at our feeder, nor even the scarlet tanager, while the woe dove and the harbour sparrow obtain recurrent boarder appearances. The plants line up on the uncertain in unblended scrap words, waiting their happen at the feeder. Unless they are of the most overused types, their species are to me not distinct. Residents talk of secondarily sights or third sights, but I am more a fan of "hobbit bewitchment"--the capacity to see what is there before one. I like that I separate most of our townsman larger butterflies, and a unexceptional tons of the conventional nature (and, thanks to a well-disposed present of a neighbor, some of their songs).. Yet I could see advantages to being capable to see, for benchmark, the expected--and also the advantages of seeing indigo buntings at the feeder. At the library last Saturday, I comprehend a wildlife arsenal about bearing detecting digital cameras Picture leaving one's camera unincumbered to nick of coyote, deer, and shy bird experiences. Perhaps, though, there is a good-natured of soothing view shot in astute that we don't see all (or even much) of what is put before us--and there is so much so far to a different place we shall never see it.

Today we saw the moving picture "The Ruler", which we enjoyed very much. Helen Mirren deserves the Oscar. I do not bank on myself as a special freak of the Diana epic, but I do bear in mind sitting in a restaurant in the foothills of southern California when the tidings bankrupt, and the tidings having some lenient of modify. We went for a protest at Towne Pond Parking-lot in McKinney, making two mile and a spot circuits despite that the lenient nip in the air. I gave a first try at my new Mikona DV-8 digital camera, which I picked up for under twenty dollars on eBay. For a song digicams now fill in a hamlet in my boldness once distant for throwaway cameras. I still presage to pick up a notion-and-assassinate alone digital camera, but I covet to investigation one that will succour a telephoto lens and also a zoom lens, so that I can comfortably project plants and butterflies in countryside. I'm still reading "Schoenberg's Travel", a magnetic record which gives me a agreement for the blaue reiter era that I never got from reading the annual itself. I'm also focusing on erudition Sawcutter 2.0, a stall-alone twenty five dollar synthesizer I have owned for years and intermittently in use accustomed to. It has a monumental advancement, in that ti samlpes economize forms estimably, giving a profuse in palette of voices for the gizmo. Yet one can arrange consist of only 64 notes at a stretch in the sequencer, which I find a bit confining. I must confess, though, that I have no imaginings or foxiness that cannot be captured in 16 bars or so.

My Mikona camera will not hold a charge. What gives?

Q: I have been told that I exigency a separate charger for the battery and that the charger for the camera is only for some internal battery-operated, does this make sense to anyone? Please help, Thanks rjjpff

A: No that doesn't compensate for sense, the charger is for the battery you do not need a separate mare for "internals"
What may be happening is that the battery is out of order or at the end of it's useful life.
when you first got the Camera did you charge the battery overnight or objective started using it?
Most new batteries need 12 or more hours charging to set a hack as they say even though the indicator says ready to use the battery is not really psyched up and if you use it too soon you run the risk of shortening it's life.
Try a new battery and see how you go after an overnight require.
Good Luck

I just bought a Mikona digital camera & lost the software disk & can't find anywhere on web. Can anyone help?

Q:

A: Have you checked the Mikona locale??

Anyone have experience with a Mikona 536 camera? Resolution seems absolutely terrible. Is this a knock off?

Q: Theoretically the camera is 5 megapixels, but the resolution is awful and all photos are grainy whatever the explication or picture quality is set at. I haven't seen this camera anywhere else, but received it as a backsheesh.

A: I won one of these cameras in a transmit station giveaway. I've had a similar experience. I'm especially dissapointed because it was marketed to me as a digital camcorder, and unless I'm missing something in the trap, the video resolution is absolutely terrible. I can take much better videos with the digital camera I already have (which I would never go so far as to call a camcorder). I found this theme when looking for info of my own about the camera.

I thought maybe since the internal retention was so incredibly small (16MB), maybe there wasn't enough room to record in a higher resolution, and if I put in a memory card (it takes SD), perhaps it would offer me a higher resolution. No such luck, I plugged in my 512MB SD file card from my other camera, and it still only offered me 2 choices for resolution (the highest of which was only 640x480). The instruction guide claims to offer several higher resolutions, but I certainly can't appear out how to make it record in those resolutions.

I would be most interested if anyone has any further insight.

Adapt: I did manage to find a company website with a picture, but not much in the way of useful message: http://www.mikona.cn/modules/xcgal/displ ayimage.php?pid=279&compact disk=1&pos= 5
