Dreadful Camera!!!!!
I inclination this camera! I don't know why others are giving it a bad reviews, it's simple to use, and pretty dang good at intriguing pictures! The video may not be that great, but i love my camera! Never had a problem with it! And I don't care who you are, you can work this camera, not all that worldly-wise, but all around a great camera!

propitious toy, not for grownups
Like other reviewers, I can story that the camera sometimes does not turn on when the on button is pressed; it takes 2 or 3 hits on the button to get operation. 2 AAA batteries lasted about 2 months, but frankly, I rarely use the camera so that is not a good stat.
It is very unpretentious, minimal bells and whistles, which was fine with me because I needed a simple camera for my work. It has peerless compact size, large preview screen (no viewfinder), runs on easy to find AAA batteries, and takes the SD funny man destined, which I already have plenty of. I admit that price was the driving factor to having bought this camera; the hawk has kept these cameras in the +$100 range, which is ridiculous because the technology is now old. 10 MP is about 2x more pixels than I need. I was looking for 5 MP camera for less $$. This camera was on vending at about $60, the best deal in mid-December 2009.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to correct the date stamp on this camera, so if you use the camera for pictures that want any serious archiving, it is worse than useless, it is in fact problematic. I turned the stamp off so it does not show up on the image, however the digital record is actually incorrect.
I bought this camera w/a grain of liveliness because I had numerous problems with Insignia DVD players a few years ago. I tested it pretty hard for the first few weeks, but I never small amount to check the digital record on the home computer. I will have to keep the camera because I discovered this problem too late, but unfortunately, I will have to buy another one which records with an spot on target date stamp.
And I will probably never buy another insignia product.

Do Not Buy This Camera!!!!!!!!!
This is in all likelihood the worst 10MP camera ever made. Insignia has completely dropped the ball this time around. With such a high megapixel dress down, one would assume the inherent video quality would be decent as well. This is not the case. The video recording distinction on this camera is probably the worse I've ever seen, so much so that an older 3.1MP digital camera I have aggregation dust does an even better job. The quality of digital photos on this camera are okay (maybe typical), but the user interface is so basic that there are very few options for different camera shots (like no comprehensive images for example). This makes your options for taking different types of pictures in various settings very limited to say the least. I would recommend this camera if you're purchasing it for a 5 year old, since someone so young might still have fun with it. Otherwise I would NOT recommend this camera to anybody. I bought this camera on an internet garage sale at roughly 50% it's retail value. I still feel like I was ripped off. If someone offered me this camera again for $10, $20, or even for bountiful, I'd be more inclined to say 'no thanks'. For those of you considering buying an Insignia camera, I would suggest you do a bit more research and spend a scarcely bit more on another camera that actually works like it's supposed to. Avoid this one!

Might have building problems with this model
Like a early previously to reviewer, I bought this camera on sale at Best Buy. I also bought it for my young son. It is easy to use, and he loved it.
Unfortunately, it sometimes did not equip on after turning itself off. The batteries were fine ( I have a battery tester). After it turned off from lack of activity, it would sometimes not skedaddle a appeal to back on unless the batery door was opened.
Eventually it just refused to turn on at all.
I will be returning it to Greatest Buy. I should mention that there were 2 other cameras on the rack that had been previously opened, so others may have returned this camera also.

Unhurried camera to use, nice pictures- when it works
I have two daughters, 5 and 8, who in reality wanted a "real" camera for Christmas; so, I picked up a blue and a pink version of this camera, on vending for $59.99 from Best Buy. This camera normally sells for $99.99
The cameras were very cute and girly enough, although the blue is darker than pictured and would be right for a boy.
Out of the box, the camera is ready to use. It comes with batteries, wrist strap, usb and software. We never ended up using the usb or the software. We popped in a SD union card that we had lying around and the girls were off taking pictures of everything imaginable.
The menu was very basic and easy to understand out. I didn't even read the instructions until we started having issues. There are 2 menu modes, unadorned and one that is slightly less simple but, still... simple. I basically set the date and time and set the picture importance to "super fine" which is the highest quality there is. I also turned off the picture preview. Everything else I left at mill settings.
About 10 minutes after taking hundreds of pictures, daughter 1 brings me the indecent camera and says it isn't working. The camera won't turn on. I had read a few reviews that said this camera ate batteries so I misused the batteries and it started working again. I felt dread in the pit of my stomach if battery life was only 10 to 15 minutes. I plugged in the mare. Meanwhile, daughter 2 had no issues with her batteries dying in the pink camera.
It wasn't long before daughter 1 was back with the sad camera, upset that it isn't working. Whenever we tried to turn it on, it beeped 3 times and shut off. It was very frustrating. Meanwhile, rosy camera is still going strong so I thought it might only be this one camera or some sort of blue cam malfunction. We put it up for awhile and I discontinue out the users manual, which says basically nothing and doesn't even address a 3 beep and powering off fight, and then I try to google it and at some point, I see that her camera lens has not retracted and so I gently forced it to go back in. That seemed to be the magical fix, in the interim. The camera turned on and took many more pictures.
As an aside, I noticed that her LCD screen had all sorts of menu and settings icons that my other daughters camera did not have displayed. I checked all the menu settings and they were similar and so I tried to reset the camera in the menu and that cleared it for a short while but then they were back. I have no idea why. It didn't select camera usability but it annoyed me.
It wasn't long before the camera would not turn on at all. I thought this beat it might be the batteries, never certain that the first time we changed the batteries was actually necessary, and changing them did not pinch. But after sitting for like, 10 minutes or so, it would turn on, take a few pictures and then not work again. Eventually, the rose-tinted camera had the same issues with not turning on when you tried but eventually coming on after many rests and attempts. I came to the finish that this camera was highly sensitive and that probably the particular blue one we purchased was malfunctioning.
That said, if you have a lot of sufferance or it might not be heavily used or relied upon, this isn't a horrible camera as far as ease of use and picture quality. I presume from several reviews that mentioned horrible picture quality but almost every picture my kids took came out very nicely on my computer splash. And these are wiggly, jiggly, unsteady handed kids who were excited and running every which way and many in low light situations. They were demonstrating the very significance of point-and-shoot.
This camera also takes short videos. The quality of which is good enough for a but kid and the max length which is no less than 42 seconds.
The battery life was not actually as bad as I originally thought. The primary batteries lasted in the pink camera until we returned them both today, Monday. My kids opened them on Christmas. They were tempered to, with flash, as much as they possibly could be when working properly.
The internal memory only holds 6 pictures so I make attractive an SD card.
As for ease- I'm not kidding when I say my 5 year old mastered this is less than 10 minutes and this is her very first mechanical or electronic anything, ever. She has no preceding experience with any sort of device.
There is no viewfinder which was neither a positive or a negative for either of us. I don't use the view finder, ever, on my own 2 very charming cameras and for a kid starter camera, it just wasn't an issue for us. The LCD was nice enough.
I never would pay $100 for this camera. I absolutely wanted to like this camera a lot but it was just too 'sensitive' and unreliable for me or my girls. They are serious about their photography, it seems, and this would not profession for us. Too bad because it would be a great starter camera for a young kid. If you have a kid who doesn't care so much or money to blow if it's on trade- it's not horrible.
I also can't speak for durability. We simply didn't own it long enough (3 days) to see if it would survive a good child-size beating. My girls are pretty thoughtful of their things and while I'm ineluctable in time it would have taken a beating, being that it already has 'sensitivity' issues, it might not be so durable.
This camera didn't have many reviews when I bought it and the ones it got were opposing but better than any other comparable camera which is why I gave it a shot. We took ours back today and exchanged it for a a Fujifilm J38. We paid $89 for it on bargain-priced so I am hoping we have better experience with it.

Important for kids or backup camera
I bought the rose-tinted Insignia for my daughter when she was 6 and was very impressed with the quality for the price. And the battery life was great. At first I put the camera on the lowest changelessness to conserve batteries. She probably took over 400 pics before they died. I was not able to evaluate the picture quality at this point because her photos were of her dad's work boot, the ceiling fan, the dog's tail, her patois, etc. (The artistic eye of a 6 year old I guess!)
A couple of months later we went to the zoo and I decided to take this camera in place of of my bigger/heavier Nikon D40. I put in new batteries, bumped up the resolution to the highest stage set and was really, really impressed. Not the top of the line quality but for such a cheap camera I was surprised at how well they turned out! Even at the highest background the batteries lasted for a couple hundred photos. When I did not want to risk my more expensive and heavy SLR we took the Insignia. I unquestionably loved taking it to places like Six Flags. I popped it into a Ziploc bag (to protect it on the first-grade rides) and away we went!
The camera was also fairly tough. I dropped it on the laminate flooring once from about 3 feet and it held up well. Unfortunately, my daughter dropped the camera on the asphalt and the LCD conceal cracked. And, like all inexpensive cameras, it has no viewfinder so was a total loss.
As I mentioned in my title, it is a fine camera for a kid or if you are just looking for a cheap 2nd camera. My daughter and I are both getting cameras this Christmas (I'm upgrading to the D90) and I will perhaps buy this camera for her again.

Gigantic camera and timely delivery but.....
I received this camera with on-sometimes delivery and am very pleased with my purchase. The only problem I had was that the manual CD was cracked. I spoke with the seller and they sure me that they would send me a replacement disc free of charge and that the damage must have happened while in route.

Insignia Digital Camera Survey
The camera takes decorous pictures for a basic point-and-shoot; however, the battery life is next to nothing. I think I might get 1~2 hours of mobile life from this camera.

Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 – Camcorder – High Definition with digital ...
If you yearning something to take pictures with, there are many accomplished cameras out there that will do improve than this. There is no machine-driven zoom and the colors are less off much of the at intervals, but you can nip them, I believe, with some editing software later. That’s if you don’t inclination the pest. If you fancy to decent pressure your pics and put out, you may be a only slightly dissappointed.
This is promoted by to be against as a video camera, anyway, not so much as a still pic camera. That is most of all what you’d buy this for. There are much smaller and speculator MP3 players and speech recorders readily obtainable, so don’t buy it for those, either. It is large for use as a video camera. And it fails at that! If you necessitate to slay some videos that look very inexperienced, and they will without any editing, terrific. It will do that. You may then publicize it into a T.V. and chronometer it, all of it, every take jiffy you recorded. If you scantiness your videos to look more past master, and not like it was the first metre you picked up a video camera, you’ll deprivation to polish your exertion after you spring it. You’ll destitution to use editing software, like Windows Talking picture Maker, which Insignia’s website even recommends. Unfortunately, this camera’s videos will not participate on Flicks Maker! And, I wasn’t even stressful to affect cooperate/compile Exalted Statement of meaning videos! I have puke hours and hours straight difficult to wing it belittle humble tenacity clips, scarcely in example in any event any of the computors I’ve tried couldn’t manage HD. I tried it on my laptop, my netbook, and my roommates laptop. No chances. I could not get it to boot-lick correctly with Nero, either, or two other editing software programs I downloaded off the net. I tried Movavi, like a erstwhile reviewer mentioned, but they will not let you truthfully advance showing the program (you can download a proof manifestation, but you CAN’T Really DO ANY EDITING) without buying it first. Pathetic, I’m not shelling out $$ unless I understand it will exertion.
