Benign computer, good price
I was looking for a reasonably priced computer to make restitution for the one I had, and was pleased with the price, initial quality, and ease to set up of this computer. When it arrived, I was frightened, as the amazon.com box it came in was almost fully destroyed, but the box and computer itself were fine. Otherwise a good purchase.

A zealous buy
Certitude me, this computer is worth the money. It's very quick and stylish, perfect for a modern computer room. It has 3 or so USB docks, suitable for if you have a mouse, a p-drive, a camera, a phone... All that other junk that you need to strap up to your computer, you can do it all at once.
I've had it for a few months, and it's still as irresponsibly as it was when I got it. Now, I'm no computer tech, I really don't understand the details, but let me tell you, it almost overwhelmed me, all of the programs and upgrades and services this computer comes with, not to remark the cool backgrounds and designs you can customize your desktop with.
A great buy, you won't be disappointed!

The "Jury" is still out...
...because, after almost 6 hours having to abide the unproductive, absolute farce called "technical support," it was determined that the unit was shipped with on the blink software and has since been taken back to factory default. That done, for the one week of service, the machine seems to have been giving at least equal performance. Part of the reason it isn't possible to offer more specific observations is that I'm new to WIN 7.

Concocted Advertising, it advertises it comes with DDR3 ram, nope.
Only comes with DDR2 ram, I in fact disapprove of false advertising and wish I had saved my money. I thought I had found a good administer, but I guess not. I will be doing my shopping elsewhere from now on, I have never had any trouble with Amazon before but I do not have much money and to see it ruin my plans for a 4gb of DDR3 ram and low surplus video game card for a low end gaming setup has cut me so short of money it will be another year before I can lay up enough to buy another computer. Overall it is a great computer though, very nice looking on inside, I even tried installing my DDR3 ram I bought and it would not fit in the embark on. If you don't care about DDR3 your golden.

Obliging and Totally Serviceable
Well I merely received this computer about two days ago, but despite this, I think I can make a pretty good assessment about its pros and cons thus far. I'll launch by saying that from an aesthetic viewpoint, this computer looks very nice. The case itself is matte, but the front bezel itself is a tidy, glossy finish that really does look nice, all things considered. It has two USB 2.0 ports on the front as well as jacks for both headset and a microphone, so no need to reach around to the back of the unit if you don't feel like it. Oh yes, just so you're not as confused as I was at first, the power knob is technically located on what would be your right hand side if the computer's front is facing you, situated near the top of the case. The knob is illuminated by a somewhat irritating bright blue LED, a lighting choice that seems to have become popular in the computer deal in these days, so it's kind of a take it or leave it thing depending on how you feel about such. The only ridiculous part of the external think up is, in my opinion, the terribly designed bay for the DVD reader. A plastic flap obscures the drive itself, and to accessible it, one presses a silver button directly underneath this flap. Now this is all fine and dandy until you try to use it: would a atomic power plant have a computer monitoring the reactor that is rendered inoperable after turning it on? The same issue takes responsibility here--the plastic flap actually flips over the button itself after opening, making it a totally surplus fiasco to press the button again to let the drive read a placed disc. Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce that after a few uses the flap becomes a little stiff; it will show some difficulty closing after the drive door recedes. This is not anything turbulent, but you will probably have to push it closed manually. There's one more big issue that came up, actually: NO CASE FAN. I'm surprised this evaded my heed for so long. This computer should run pretty cool, and a case fan can run anywhere from $5-20, but the fact that they didn't include this is in point of fact really underhanded if this is HP's idea of "cutting costs." Still, it hasn't blown up on me yet, and a fan is shipping in the despatch. 1/2 point off.
The hardware itself is decent; nothing mindblowing in this box to be sure. Two gigs' worth of DDR3 honour should give this computer some decent punch, but why not upgrade to four and max out its potential?***NOTE*** Apparently Amazon was unsound about the memory type. Another reviewer found it to be DDR2 memory instead of DDR3, so plan accordingly before purchasing!***NOTE*** The PSU is 250 watts, I rely upon. This should be enough to power everything on board adequately, but in case you were intending to add a second hard drive or add a graphics be open, upgrading the power supply may be wise. In any case, it only comes with two power couplings for SATA-model devices, both of which are already in use by the hard drive and DVD drive. It does have some older MOLEX-type adaptors, however, and the motherboard hosts one IDE pigeon-hole. I do have to mention that the power supply is kind of a pain in the rear to remove, though. The box also hosts one PCI niche, two PCI-e and one PCI-e16, I think. I'll verify this later. Graphics are integrated--not what you would want for gaming, but I find they're middling enough to play PoxNora online with minimal hiccups, so it can carry you through in many cases. Processor is an AMD Sempron, which is a bring level unit, although it's definitely strong enough to run Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit without any point. I'm having the hardest time finding out what's the biggest processor the motherboard will take, however; even the HP website and several manuals I've skim thus far seem not to be willing to divulge this useful bit of knowledge. Overall, though, I think I can recommend this one as a purchase, above all for this ridiculously low price.
***EDIT*** They (Amazon) just lowered this PC's price to under $300 for a few existence. It has since went back up to the default price, sadly. I'm not sure if that means I bought a lemon, but this is a well-defined must buy if you need decent computing power and the latest Windows OS at a price so low it could be called black. Just remember that Windows7 Home Premium does have some compatibility problems with older programs...to panacea this, you will need to change to either Professional or Ultimate.

Serious defects
This computer has two serious problems. The first is that it produces piercing clicks on the audio output whenever it goes in and out of sleep mode. The second is that it its onboard VGA manufacture is unusably blurry.
Of course if you don't use the VGA output (or plan to purchase a separate video prankster) and you don't mind the loud clicks, it seems like a pretty decent PC. Other hardware weaknesses are the fan is to some degree loud, and the case is relatively flimsy and requires a screw driver to open. Par for the orbit for most entry level PCs.
Of course like most retail PCs it comes pre-installed with dozens of less annoying things that you probably will never need and which will take some work to disable. And you probably have to live with the hyper beautiful Windows 7 home edition "features" like user pictures that can't be turned off, and which come out obnoxiously at the top of the start menu.

Fine fantastic delivery! I ordered it on Monday and got it on Thursday evening (Super Saver shipping). The computer works extraordinary right out of the box. Print shop doesn't work with windows 7 all my other programs seem to work ok (even some old games from the mid 90's). Grand speed and huge hard disc capacity. I think best for the price. Notice Amazon they seem to raise prices over the weekend and lower them during the week. I looked at the price on Wednesday the week before and went to organization it on Friday, but the price went up $50, on Monday the price had dropped $40.

This computer reminds me of a Irish colleen I dated in college.....
.......very handsome and when things were good they were great but when things were bad, they were really bad.
So I purchased the S5510F about two weeks. I have already had to take it to the computer department store near me twice to have it restored. After the system crashed I was unable to do it from my house. Today the Nvidia video driver crashed and I had to reboot. I quality like it is teasing me with great functionality one minute and problems the next. And just like that college girlfriend, I'm hoping as the relationship goes on all the skirmishing (problems) will go away. And we all know how that usually ends.
In all seriousness I have spent a combined totality of 14 hours rebooting, redownloading drivers and software, and restoring to factory settings. Whether it is windows or the real hardware is still TBD but unfortunately just like a bad marriage you can't have one without the other.
Not to sound like a complete Debbi Tranquilizer but the computer looks great, fits perfectly in my home office and I couldn't be happier WHEN it works well.

Well-known Little Desktop for Price
Bought this for our small-scale law practice office manager/legal secretary when her old Windows 98 workstation bit the dust. Because her computer sits on her escritoire to minimize the dreaded dust bunnies, size is very important. The slimline design is polished, freeing up significant space. Putting a CD/DVD into the tray is a little awkward because of the vertical array, but it works. We've had this unit now for about 3 weeks, and she loves it. Finding Windows 7 drivers for some of the old printers/scanners was unwilling, but everything works just fine. The 3g of memory is the right amount for her needs. It appears to work seamlessly with our Windows 2003 server. It's a goodness little machine and a lot faster than the old workstation. No software conflicts with Windows 7. We'll see how it holds up.

This is a horrible monitor, at an amazing price. It arrived in three days and was well packaged. I like that it adjusts on impulse and has a vivid display with no glare as I used to have on my previous monitor. It's designed so that you can push your keyboard under it onto its hinge when not in use. The built-in speakers give good sound. I'm very satisfied.

Terrific monitor
In the first place bought this for my wife, to replace her 5 yr old 15" that was starting to fail. As I hoped, she didn't like it--too completely, too much mouse movement required. So, I gave her my 17" and we are both very happy.
Excellent image, menu moderate to use to make adjustments.

Eximious Monitor Ruined by Glue Residue!!!
This supervisor is a great value. The matte finish is attractive and the screen colors really remain out. I do have to mention that my new monitor is ruined after I removed the identifying sticker at the top of the monitor. I have to agree with S. Francis' annotation on this issue and I quote him here, "The glue HP used is so strong that it's left behind when you peel the sticker off. So far I have tried vessel tape, WD-40 and Goo Gone and the glue is still there". I particularly liked that he mentioned the status of the glue was used to build roads. Anyway, if you don't mind a messy finish after removing the sticker then you will be okay. The monitor is exceptionally recommended.
