Dream of wait and a big let down on performance!
I had to run in one day for the wife to use on her trip. Boy she didn't like the GE X5 Pro at all! Told me it was very heavy, and the pictures came out weaken burst out with or wasn't sharp enough! I had tested the came myself and compared it with Olympus SP-600UZ HD. Aimed and before you can say 'Jack Robinson' no way the same image. GE X5 Pro has 14MP while the Olympus has 12MP but it has 720p HD. Both have 15x Optical Zoom. What I didn't like about the GE X5 Pro was even with the Blur, Exhibit etc. the picture always came out the same way. The Zoom lens stick out in this SLR like point and shoot. Still I would have consideration the image would be better but sure enough it wasn't what I had expected. The camera looks like Fuji S-1800, which I also had when that was first start. I had to send that back because all I had seen the LCD panel was blue snow noise. Not even Flash the firmware could fix that problem. So I had to send that back. Got the Olympus instead! Well this was a bad mistake and I've sent this one back because of the blur issue and LCD panel was snowy in low to course light. Outdoors it was okay no noise. But the view finder wasn't optical more digital impression. Shooting with the LCD Panel outdoors I had aimed an tested one last shut but with max lens did show up well but the picture that came out was fuzzy. Don't get me wrong the camera looks good and shoots so, so, but not the greatest pictures though. Transfer from GE X5 Pro to Windows 7 Final 64-bit worked but out of 93 shots it had frozen. But when I had gone to looked all the images did give okay but the OSD shown me the wrong info from the GE X5 Pro. I am not going for exchange for a new one I'll just get another Olympus but not a SLR Like type since the woman won't use those type again after the GE X5 Pro experience.

Well Built Camera, Ill Performance
The GE X5 has many handsome features. I didn't try them all yet but those I did, I was very disappointed with the results. Sometimes the photos came out clear and at other times they were give away. Sometimes the flash would fire and other times it wouldn't, even when I followed the directions on the instructional booklet and the accompanying CD. I returned the camera to Amazon for an the Bourse which they promptly honored. I received the new camera a couple of days ago. Features that were not working on the returned camera are working okay on this new camera. The burst out works good, the green frame is visible, and the photos are clear. I have yet to try the other features of the X5. I'll pier another review when I have tried them all. (Please note that review of 2 stars is based on the returned GE X5 camera).

Gamester Cameras Out There
I purchased a GE X5 Power Pro from Sears. The camera was O.K. and peacefully to use but I had more bad shots than good. I used all of the different setting and adjustments but found the camera was just not up to par. I returned it to Sears. I then purchased the Fuji S1800 for about the same prize through Amazon. The Fuji is a much better camera. It is easy to use and the Macro shots are excellent. It's a guardian.

A qualified replacement for my 6 yr old CMOS camera
The last span I purchased my own camera was 6 years ago. It was a CMOS sensor 5 megapixel camera. It has served me well and handed down to my 8 yr old for his belittling camera, to use my husband's Nikon Coolpix which also has served us well. Now that I have this, my husband can reclaim his. Usually tolerant of the camera for family outings and pictures for ebay. I have just began dabbling with the options that are afforded in this pattern. I am pleased with the quality of the pictures. I have compared the pics to more expensive brands and there is quite a rest but I am content with the quality of the camera and the pics I have taken I am led to believe I truly have no reason to serving dish out a few hundred dollars more for a well known pioneer brand for digital cameras when I am not a professional photographer and probably never will be. This output is worth every penny on its price tag if brand doesn't matter to you. Definitely a good buy.

Well-behaved camera but had a problem with it.
I did a lot of searching and reviewing before deciding on purchasing this camera. When I got it I charged the freestyle a little bit and used it that evening and the videos turned out pretty darn good. The battery-operated of course lost it charge because I didn't charge it long enough so I put it back on charge. Now mind you it was energetic getting the battery in and out of the charger it was awful darn tight even getting it out of the camera was a bother. So I fully charged the battery put it in the camera and now the camera will not turn on. So needless to say this will be returned and I went out and bought a Sony. Otherwise, this camera was ok.

Camera of the year
GE E1486TW 14MP Digital Camera with 8X Visual Zoom and 3.0-Inch Touch Panel LCD with Auto Brightness (Red)
Purchased after reading reviews all over the web.
Fabulous camera simple to use, wonderful photos in all conditions.
On receiving it I charged the battery for 4 hours as advised in the instructions.
I then took self-conscious flash/ panorama/ video/ single shot/ continuous shot and every other type of effect to try to wear the battery out.
It held up for as long as I needed, or wanted it to.
All photos were clear and very well suspended light wise, even into the sun.
The only thing I would warn of is not to cover the A/F lens on the front left of the camera with your acquire when taking pics. Pity they didn't put this somewhere above the lens, out of the way of hands.
Perfect camera, unqualified pics, could take a pic of a black cat in a coal cellar.

like the pick wheel (fast), solid quality
This camera has everything I demand- movie mode w/ sound and image stabilization, 10 MP for stills if I feel like making muscular prints, and large LCD screen.
The Fuji AX-200 also seemed very good and offered HD (720) @ 24 FPS, the GE has 640 x 480 @ 30 FPS. Both have 5X visual lens image stabilization, neither dropped audio while zooming, but both 'stepped' the zoom while recording- the GE 'stepped' less though- peradventure the video capability of these probably won't be what a camcorder can offer, but it is there for convenience. The Fuji video specs out an HD firmness, though not at 30 FPS, the GE does well in low light and I am surprised how well it holds up even on a 32" standard def TV-
The select where on the GE I found faster to use than the menu system on the Fuji, at least for me. Both run on AA batteries, and are nice, solid cameras though.

Natural P&S camera to use
I happened across this camera while searching for a inconsequential P&S camera that I could take anywhere. There are times a cell phone camera cannot do the job properly. Having tempered to this camera for 4 months and taken several thousand pictures, here is what I have experienced:
Good:
* 2 AA battery power -- if they die, obtaining appropriate replacements is very easy.
* Using AA NiMH batteries -- I get about 250 pictures per set of 2,300 mAh batteries.
* 10.1 MP sensor - 4:3 is negligence resolution ratio, but it has the capability of shooting 3:2 (at 9 MP size).
* 1/2.33" CCD sensor - quite benchmark
* 5X optical zoom - Equivalent to 35 MM to 175 MM.
* Macro mode with focus down to 3"
* Vigorous histogram, but has to be turned on each time the camera is powered up
* SD and SDHC card capacity - I've utilized up to a 4 GB SDHC card with no problems.
* Mini-USB cable (nonstandard) connection for picture haul.
* Three light meter modes -- Spot, center weighted and AiAE (a obscure full frame evaluation mode).
The Bad:
* Close distance flash shots wash out the cause -- metering of the flash is bad.
* Transferring more than 50 pictures at a time via USB cable will producer the camera to crash.
* A rectangular shutter button that is a bit stiff to operate at times.
* Bit metering tends to wash out pictures. The best mode is AiAE (complex metering)
* The histogram cannot be programed to residue on all the time
* EV setting is a bit tedious -- the effect takes once the EV choice has turned off. It must be restarted each once upon a time you want to make an exposure adjustment
* The LCD lighting on auto mode tends to show the private showing exposure too dark, when, in fact, the exposure is quite good.
* Awkward placement of the zoom rocker lash
* Framing grid lines are a mid-gray color and are hard to see in sunny conditions. No groceries to change the color.
I wrote Customer Service regarding the histogram and grid on the short list for issues. Within 24 hours, they responded. There is no provision to change the default programing of features on this camera. They suggested a firmware update, but for this ideal, GE posted Version 1.10 on the support website. I have Version 1.11 on my camera.
My palpable test was on a cross-country trip this past April, where I took this camera, a Canon A590 and a Fujifilm S100FS. The pictures bewitched with the GE were sharp and clear, when they were outside and in AiAE metering mode. Taking pictures in scene mode was a mixed bag - greens were overblown and reds were suppressed.
Also, this is an economical P&S camera. Don't keep in view perfect live action shots, unless you crank up the ISO speed to the point the pictures are all grainy. I scholarly to keep this camera at ISO 100 for the vast majority of my pictures. There is an automatic scene detection fad that works, but it too is a mixed bag. I've shot outdoor pictures of plants in bright sunlight and had the camera shock on the flash as if it was in Sunset mode and backlit subject. Go figure.
Facial recognition works OK champion for this price camera. Two faces are easily recognized. When taking flash pictures of residents, be careful. If you are too close, the flash will wash out the persons face. The metering system and the flash efficiency appear to be separate, so there is no TTL metering of the flash to limit the flash output. Also. red eye reduction shooting fires 4 times before the dead ringer is captured. The subjects (especially small children) close their eyes and you get a blink fill someone in. Children mode completely suppresses the flash altogether.
The long and the short of it, I found the outwit mode to shoot in was pure manual mode, where I can set everything (with the aid of the histogram) in AiAE metering form to capture the correct exposure. It worked just fine with good tonal duplication in the final product. I'm posting some sample pictures with this review. They represent a cross department of my experiences.
CS is responsive, unlike other companies out there. Build quality is good, but don't expect it to monopolize up to pure torture. Overall, for the price I paid, the features and the picture quality, I happened upon a considerable camera.

Seemly Camera for a Great Price!
I wanted a smaller camera that I could at it around in my pocket or purse without too much worry. Now, this is not a point and click camera. I am totally satisfied with my Canon Powershot 12 megapixel camera but it takes up a lot of dwelling in my purse and I rely on a case to carry it. This takes clear pictures and is a lot like my other camera. I never knew GE made cameras but this one is magic and the price is great. If you take a lot of pictures and are camera friendly this is a great buy.

Comely good but basic digital camera
I bought it over three weeks ago and straightaway tested it out. It was pretty good. It takes some nice pictures however the image stabilization and moving picture are other problem I'm still trying to adjust. Image stabilization photos came out very blurry. Silver screen...well, when it uploaded to this macbook, it won't open at all. Sometimes it opened, sometimes it won't or couldn't seem to open. But the rest is very good. It is consumable for beginners to novice.
Recommend this, I don't know because I'm still learning though even I haven't taken anymore pictures often.

diabolical consumer manual
The alcohol manual is terrible. Examples: Page 12 says that you should format your memory be forthright, but it doesn't tell how to do that. I could not find a telephone number to call and ask; just an email address. The reply came 5 life later (including a holiday), but I figured it out by exploring, guessing, and experimenting for fewer than 5 existence. Page 14 tells how to use the Function menu. The different functions are stacked vertically, but to first-rate one you are supposed to use the left and right buttons. Once you select a function, the options are arranged horizontally, but you are obliged to select one using the up and down buttons. Illogical and counterintuitive. And on top of that, I can't get it to select an option at all. Imagine fatiguing to take a picture of a group of people indoors under florescent lights and you want to set the white command for those lights. By the time you struggle through the process, most of the people will have gotten bored and wandered off. The conspirator's goal apparently was to make the customer frustrated and angry at GE for a long time. Aim accomplished.

Don’t reward which GE maquette I had but it had worthy images and was well made. I returned it because it’s big use was .mov. As a outcome, video was unusable without first downloading the right software which for me, at least, can’t be removed/uninstalled. Also, you could not part the video because of the give a hoot software needed to vision it.

This might rugged odd but the first emphasize I tried out was the Pan-Lay. With every other camera I have owned I have never been auspicious with the extensive pictures from them.
