Bailiwick point and shoot camera
I've been using this camera for about two years now, and infatuation it. It does everything that I want in a camera, and does it well. I spent 2 months reviewing cameras looking for the most desirable non-SLR camera I could find, since I wanted something a bit smaller than an SLR that would not require me to carry 2-3 lenses to compete with the abilities of an SLR-like camera. The 18x visual zoom is amazing and has allowed me to take many great shots, the same goes for the super-macro hype. I keep the digital zoom turned off since I will never use it, Photoshop will blow up an image better than the camera ever can. Being expert to use rechargeable AA batteries makes owning this camera cheaper since I take several sets with me when I travel, getting about 200-400 pictures per set depending on flare use.
The two things I don't like about this camera are the image sensor and picture format. I take virtually all of my pictures at dry 10MP, ISO 64. These pictures look very nice, unless you need to zoom in fully to dynamite something up in Photoshop, where the image looks somewhat grainy. But this is probably as good as you can get in a non-SLR camera due to the form size. The other feature that I would like would be RAW image formats, but I can live without it. I'd give it 4.5 stars if that was realizable, but gave it 4 instead of 5 since it's not perfect.

Not for indoor enterprise
A number all around camera however it has two significant drawbacks. First, the flash does not acutally charge until you press the shutter. This is OK for posed stills but creates a problem when shooting sign requiring a flash as the subject frequently ends up not centred. Second, if you are using the hurry regularly, (say shooting indoors at reception) you burn through batteries fairly quickly. 200 shots took three sets of 4 AAs. Fuji could ground this camera tremendously by adding a hot shoe for a separate flash and a battery pack that can keep up with faithful use. Otherwise this a good camera for the money.

The unsurpassed camera for the amateur photographer
Hi,
I bought this in Germany instantly after seeing it in an electronics store. Well the initial days were tough for me to get good pictures because I don't separate much about photography and the camera settings. I have spent few days in educating myself on digital photography.
after two months.... my photos are praised by many residents, by my friends and people whom I don't know. What I like most is
1. strong colors in pics
2. The optical zoom (I liking it)
3. Built-in shooting modes (no need to scratch head)
4. face detection and dead ringer stabilization
5. Adjustable image sizes based on mega pixel selection
6. All buttons seems to be quite placed
What I don't like
1. The lens cap is always an obstacle
2. Some times the images are blurred for no reason.
3. The slowest shutter promote is only 4 sec. There is no bulb feature.
4. Some times the colors are very light that they don't look good (May be I have to learn)
Utterly this camera was the best for the price (I bought for much low price at the time).
For a beginner and amateur photographer this will give noble experience.
Cheers
Gunasekhar

Benign camera. . .
The S8100 Fuji is a gentle camera. . . just like a true SLR except the fact you can't change lenses, everything else is very kind-hearted.

broken unit
The camera was faulty. Only used it one weekend and it shut off without warning twice, told me to "turn off and back on" once, seemed to freeze up on several occasions and wouldn't let me turn upside down c overturn it off or use any of the adjustments for a few second, and the view finder and LCD screen turned green and white once and purple several times. I took well over 200 shots using broad angle, zoom, close up, w/ and w/o flash, video... with full auto and the various programmable modes, all at utmost resolution, and over 3/4th of these were blurred. Of these 40 or so, none came out as sharp as pics from my Fuji S7000 at 6meg or my Pentax Optio 330 at 3 meg. In unnamed modes the anti-shake was on, didn't seem to make a difference. I really like my S7000, but wanted an upgrade. Not this one!
I liked the area, great zoom, and adjustable parameters on this model. But way too many problems came up. Might just be a out of order unit... but it's going back today. One other thing is that the surface of the LCD screen protrudes out by itself and will end up getting scratched very tied. Didn't even want to carry it for fear of scratching against the buttons of my shirt.
Am trying the Pentax DSLR K-x at $499.00. Less lens and a lot more precious, but I sure hope it lives up to my expectations.

Very Delighted
I purchased a GE X5 Power Pro from Sears. The camera was O.K. and pliant to use but I had more bad shots than good. I used all of the different setting and adjustments but found the camera was just not up to par. I returned it to Sears. I then purchased the Fuji S1800 for about the same consequence through Amazon. The Fuji is a much better camera. It is easy to use and the Macro shots are excellent. It's a keeper.

Gets the job done
this camera is alarming for anybody that wants to practice being a professional photographer because its very basic. Overall though its fun to use and it's very light majority. I really enjoy the panoramic feature and I really have a lot of fun with the HD video recorder. Down side is your really precisely paying for the extra zoom and that is it, because you can find some really compact camera that fit in your pocket for the same price and all the same features except the zoom of indubitably. But its not a bad camera I don't regret buying one.

unforgivable semi-pro camera with some limitations.
novice user learning photography
ok I know that a potential buyer wants to know why not to buy this camera so ill file the limitations first:
no exterior flash hot shoe. no lens filter threads. mem intrude is in the battery storage on bottom of camera. only jpeg format for the stills. I would have like them to go the extra penny on the larger rather than the smaller pint-sized usb connector or better yet why not just build the camera so you can plug a thumb drive promising into the camera.
ok now on to the positive aspects over all this seems to be alot of camera for the price. I want to learn photography peradventure up to a semi-professional level but I didn't want/ didn't have the money to commit to a full blown DSLR so when shopping around I encountered the s1800 and its buddy the 2550? which has an hdml connector. it had many features I was looking for good pixel measure assess, built in zoom, even some video capability weighing the features and the limitations I decited to buy the S1800....
in the box was the camera (its shed weight smaller and lighter than I expected but im old school when it comes to 35mm and its just good enough not to have a "cheap touch") it came with 4xAA batts, an inexpensive strap, a unimpressive lens cap,, and a USB cable,, and like 3 principal manuals in different languages and a CD with some softwear and advanced manual i havent installed yet. the brace was a cardboard eggcarton configuration.
I took the camera out and played with it knowing little about digital camera direction but was still able to figure out basic operations without a problem.
my first shot was a dragonfly on a branch from 6feet somewhere else in daylight and I have to say the results were a plesant suprise as there were some reports that it was blury at high zoom and I found the camera to be respectably deep-rooted (I did have a mini tripod attached for added stability but wasnt ground placed) the motivation had the dragon fly in crisp focused detail. (im using one of the lower picture resolutions the 2mb on fine it translates to about a 500k pic.
my next bid was some star shots and while I was able to shoot the intended star I failed to get anything like a starry nightfall pic but it may have been my failure and I need to be more agressive with the configurations, (on a side note the eyepiece crosshair functioned like a hud room and by placing my eye a few inches back from the eye piece and looking with both eyes I was able to target a selected celebrated to get it in frame even at full zoom)
my third test was falling water I set this on the sport setting but was unable in a few frames to get icy falling water I need to do more research as I believe this camera is capable of it.
my final is a sunset (there is a sunset specialty background) even in my crappy ugly location ,just goofing off I took a photo that has gotten a wow responce several times from friends.
Definitive NONES a 4gb chip will hold like 6000+ of the low resolution pictures (500k) this is a very versitile camera for the on Easy Street and I think it would find a place as a support or backup camera even if I had the big bucks would like to see RAW format, thumb propel support, filter threads, and exterior hookup ports for flash and mic and shutter.

Countless Camera please read manual before you give negative review.
I have had this camera for three duration and I love the quality of pictures. I would tell anyone to read the manual first to get an idea on how to use the camera. I would not call this camera a square point and shoot camera. If you are willing to follow the instructions and are willing to play around with camera you will get some major pictures. I have always had great luck with fuji cameras and this camers just made me love them all the more. I would not recommend this camera to someone who is not determined enough to learn how to use the camera, but if you do you will be happy with s1800.

2 S700's now split/DON'T use in humidity!
I predilection everything about this camera (features, pictures, etc.) except for one important factor: I've had two in a row completely die and Fuji is in my opinion less than helpful.
S700 #1: I purchased this camera for a slip of the tongue to Jamaica. Being a new camera, we were very careful that it didn't get wet or sit in the sun, but several days into our trip, to my great heartbreak, it all of a sudden would not turn on. I contacted Fuji when we got back. Over the phone they explained that using regular AA (non-rechargeable) batteries would often engender the internal battery to fail and that this was probably the problem but I would have to wait and find out. After a very long wait (4+ weeks) I was intelligent that the inside of the camera was corroded. They would not honor the warranty. I explained that, although Jamaica is a very humid eyot, it was never exposed to water. Several phone calls, many unreturned messages, and giving them a deadline before I would write to the Better Business Bureau later, I was finally able to speak with a supervisor and asked whether captivating it to a humid area would void the warranty. He admitted that simply the humidity probably had done this mutilation but explained that since there was corrosion they couldn't help me. They did offer me to "trade up to a different model" using their "devotedness program" (which one would assume would mean getting some value for the old camera), but in reality this didn't preserve me very much money at all. I was simply purchasing a refurbished camera directly from Fuji at a slight discount from the new-camera assess (to my recollection this was maybe 15% or so). I begrudgingly opted to do this because I couldn't afford another type new camera and needed one and got a new (refurbished) S700. This also meant that camera #2 would have no warranty.
S700 #2: Around a year later, I uploaded some pics. When I went to use the camera again, this one also is completely dead. It will not bring over on. I tried charging my batteries, then purchased new rechargeable batteries, charged them up, but nothing. This camera never went anywhere a stone's throw from a humid country or anything. I contacted Fuji again and was informed that I will have to mail it in at my cost, wait 4 weeks, and they will get hold of me by snail mail with an estimate which I can choose to accept or deny. :-(
C'mon Fuji, you can do better than this. I just deficiency a WORKING camera (like I paid for twice now)! I really do take care of my cameras and don't do anything that shouldn't be intended "normal use."
If you want a camera that is going to last longer than a year, in my experience this is not it.

Careful product, poor support.
Pros: Giant camera overall - takes beautiful pics, good point-and-shoot aim with plenty of manual adjustments available.
Cons: Hope it doesn't break - Fuji's mill service is expensive!!! $85 to replace a sticking play button. Also a big camera that can be outperformed by most of the compressed super-zooms available now.

Extraordinary quality & easy to use
This acquire was actually to replace the original of the same model camera that I damaged by repeated dropping & knocking off til the exhibit screen stopped working. Since I like to take a lot of close-up floral shots, I really needed to be skilful to use the display screen; so my husband took my first camera (it still works) & replaced it with bang on the same model! This camera takes fantastic pictures--I used to do graphic design for a living, so I have to have close quality pics & this one provides them, with the optical zoom & the macro settings, the options are stunning. It also has both auto & manual settings, so it works for the inexperienced & the more trained photographer (which I hope to be someday).
This fact model has a setting that is not available on any other model I know of: a flash/natural setting that takes one pic with the gleam & one with natural light, one after the other with one click of the button. That way, I can take pics without having to determine lighting wishes and choose which one looks best afterwards. This means in fast-paced settings, I can shoot to another place without having to stop to gauge whether to use the flash or not--I just love this feature; it has given me a lot of inordinate pics I wouldn't have gotten with any other camera. It also takes good pics in low-light settings & this 7.1mp 10x visual zoom camera has brought me "professional-looking" wedding pics to give some friends which caused some of their friends to ask if I could take their compound pics. Easy to use & really great pics!!! This model is hard to weary!!!

Superlative camera for the novice photographer
I purchased this camera several years ago and I am still enjoying using it. I get inordinate pictures. The 10 x optical zoom works great as well as the micro close up memorable part. It is loaded with features and I am still discovering little tricks that make my pictures special. If you destitution a camera that is beyond a point and shoot, but easy to use, this camera met those needs for me. My pictures are comparable to my kinsman's $800 digital slr and I spent much less than that. I would highly recommend this camera.

Be certain your monitor is high resolution
I have been responsible about photos being out of focus. Or just not sharp. I blamed it on the camera, but wasn't positive since they looked stylish on the TV and on the camera LCD. I had a friend with a new LCD monitor view them and he told me they were all very sharp and even his wife commented on that without prompting.
So if you have out of converge pics, be sure you rule out the fact that an older CRT low resolution monitor could be the real motivate. Not the camera. Hook it to the TV, have a few printed or have someone with a recent LCD monitor try them out before concluding anything.

Mobile Life Not Acceptable, Macro Auto-Focus Fails
While the personification quality is not bad for the price, the battery life on this camera is a deal braker for me. I would not recommend this camera and would decidedly not buy again. On a freshly charged set of four AA high-rating lithium rechargeables, I have not gotten more than 50 shots. There is a menu home for type of battery, but getting this right doesn't help.
Another deal-braker for me is the insufficient auto-focus performance in macro mode. I was never able to get a decent auto-heart in macro mode.
Also found that the little IR gizmo that assists focus is located where your fingers are persuaded to block it if you use the grip the way it is designed to be used.
I loved Fuji film, and I have had three Fuji digitals, but I think this was the last. All have had problems.

Titanic little camera until flash stop working
This was a excellent little cameras well I thought it was until on the 3rd or 4th day of our vacation the flash just stop working. Tried playing with it but could not get it to occupation. Needless to say I am returning this camera. Had to go out and purchase another camera while on vacation not happy about that Took consummate pictures and videos. Superb Camera
This is a excess underwater camera! We took it to Mexico for a 2 week snorkeling trip and love how the pictures turned out. The video is unsure - need to make sure you move slow or it looks jerky. We even used it in our pond (tumbling it underwater) and the pictures came out great. I'm impressed with the quality compared to price!

Would buy again.
I attraction this camera. My daughter bought one and then I bought one also. It works great. I would also get the flotation strap Fujifilm XP10 Assistant Kit for it. It floats with no problem. When I sat on shore I would only get the kids backs, now I can go in the water and get their smiles. I've also had the kids abandon it on the beach and it's sand proof. I do blow off the lens after I come out of the water so the drops of heavy water don't alter the still pics or video above water. I had some shots ruined this way, but also some interesting pics. Video I have infatuated with this camera can be seen on youtube. [...]

Accomplished vacation camera!
This small camera exceeded our expectations. We had so much fun in Puerto Rico bringing the XP 10 right into the waterfalls and underwater for snorkeling! Impression quality is above average for a compact waterproof camera. I took it out surfing too with no problems. The impatient video mode is a great addition to this little gem. The shape is a little funky to postpone and the access door for taking pictures off of the camera is a little flimsy but other than that, we've been really in the seventh heaven with it.

I figured it's waterproof and more applied, ideal for Bahamas. I'm very very happy with the picture and video quality I took. I went meshuga taking pictures/videos in the rides and under water. For $149. I think it's a good distribute. I put a usb strap in the camera to hang it more comfortable around my neck. To turn the camera on, you have to hold the on/off bottom for about 2 to 3 seconds. So far no complaints.

With Polaroid out of the notion for affordable moment motion picture photography, Fujifilm is bringing the Instax Mini 7S over from Europe and Asia where it has already enjoyed a lot of good. The $99 camera looks like a jingle of new art and has a built-in glitter and a definite 1/60-minute shutter run. Its ready with what the mash remission calls "stoned-end" fujinon optics. At $99, we're not talking lofty-end, but it still presumably trounces the excellence of the old Polaroid you got at the frugality cumulate.
The veil comes in packages of 10 for $20. Each area has an ISO of 800 and glassy annihilate. I'm looking at 2 cameras - a Fuji Finepix s2000 and a Nikon Coolpix P80. Which one is best?
Q: I've been qualified to narrow down my search to these two cameras. The Fuji is $230 and the Nikon $250 - honestly the same price. The pixels and zoom are what I am seeking, and both have a good video role. But each is harshly reviewed. I'd love to know what the Yahoo public thinks.
