    Westcott 40inch 5 in 1 Reflector
Have not had a conceivability to use it yet BUT because of it's "obvious versatility!" I am anxious to, and know it will be following me around when I need some extra lighting. I sweet the way it came in a small 13" pancake zip pouch, but oddly I'm reticent to forcing it "back down" into purse size for fear of bending it the wrong way permanently. I am looking for the sweet technique.
That detour, I love the white-black-silver-gold reflector and the white diffuser options! Now I impecuniousness to find creative ways to position and attach it which should be pretty easy because of it's light weight. A sturdy clamp should work fine.
    zippers from infernal regions
could be a talented product but zippers fall apart on the first pull. get what you pay for......
    Helpful and Compact
This reflector is a superb accessory for any photographer. Wasn't sure if it was going to fit in my backpack photobag but it does and it really is a nice buffer for my lenses. This is easy to use, a really nice size, was originally accepted to order a smaller version but glad I didn't. Have had no problem with the zipper.
    Reflector
Certainly five in one, with ease and a case. I've taken some fantastic photos with great results. Lots of good wishes, thank you. I am very pleased.

    Decorous starter kit
This was my first beam umbrella kit purchase, after using it for about 50 shots of whoever I could get to stand in front of the camera. I am pleased!

Note- I am a hobbyist, I am safe professionals can find better products for more money, but for home use and light traveling needs, this feels like it will fit absolutely.

I used this with a Nikon SB-600, and some of the CowboyStudio remote triggers.

I took off the black patronage cover and was using this as a shoot-through soft light. In doors everything was stable and worked as expected, I wouldn't praise using this outdoors due to wind.

This being my first umbrella purchase, I don't really know if dollar for dollar where this stands, but I am in seventh heaven with my purchase, and after a few hours of playing around, I am tempted to pickup another.

    Customer Reviews

Uncommonly hard to beat in terms of value for the money...
I received the Photo Fundamentals 402 uLite Video Lighting Kit from the Amazon Vine review program, and I plan this might be a great way to get started and experiment with green screen video work. And it performs only just as advertised. The hardware is sturdy and solid... far better than I expected given the speciously "beginner" audience it targets. Even if I decided not to do as much green screen work, the lighting fixtures would be supreme for straight photography. The green fabric background is huge, so you're not limited to a tiny space of movement (or no motion whatsoever). Assuming you already have your video camera (as that's not part of the kit), you're ready to go.

The instructional DVD is complete for the beginner... easy to follow and gets you off to a quick start. The editing software is a 30 day try, so figure on having to put out a bit of money if you happened to like what it had to offer. But at least you have something to get started with, and it works.

Comprehensive, I found this combination hard to beat. I'm happy with what I've been able to do so far with it, and I look forward to branching out even further as occasionally goes on. I may even get to the point of doing some YouTube instructional videos that don't look like I'm in my crypt (which in fact is where I am)... :)
    Winsome Cool
If you have no sustain with a green screen but want something that will work I would suggest this model. The screen is big, no huge, yes it is a immature blanket but that is what you want. It has a series of metal eyelet rings along the outside which helps you suspended it and keep it taunt. Set up is easy, my 10 yo son put this together and uses it once a week. Sure, you could go out and buy all of the items in the box and probably put away some money but this is ready to go.
    Gigantic Beginner's Kit
When this kit first here, I immediately thought it was the wrong item. The guitar player on the front threw me off for a second. Then I realized it was my unripened screen kit and they were showing what it could do.

Included in this package are two 500-watt photoflood lights, two collapsable softboxes, the 7 foot incredible light stands, and a 9'x 10' green screen. It also comes with a 30 day trial of Adobe Debut Elements 7. Additionally, you'll need your own camera (of course - video or photographic), a full version of some editing software, and a way to be poised up the screen. Therein lies the problem: While its obvious you wouldn't expect a camera in the box, I do expect this incorporate to supply a way to hang the screen and provide software to edit what I produce. It does make known itself a complete kit.

So I have come up with some ways to hang the screen:
    1) On my shower courtain rod with clips (very originative, but awkward)
    2) Pinned to the drywall. You'll need a rather large wall for this.
    3) Duct-taped to the drywall (not recommended).
    4) Buy a bona fide backdrop stand (obviously the correct way)

Overall, this kit is just short of excellent for the learner. The ability to use it as a green screen works as advertised, assuming you have capable software. the included software is drab and will only work for 30 days. What excites me the most though, is now I want to use the flood lights and softboxes with a yet-unpurchased backgroud show. This could easily be turned into a home portrait studio for the amatuer photographer. You just essential some backgrounds and a background stand.
    Brobdingnagian product
Ok first off I ardour this product for the price. But I do have a bit of a beef with it. Ok the packaging for the lights were almost perfect. But like I said "Almost" one was interrupted and glass was all over the inside of the box. I contacted the seller and he ignored me. So now I have to go out and find a replacement light. Does that stink? You bet cha. But over all a influential product. I mean it is lights and a piece of cotton.
    Offshoot flaws overmatch its utility
Our sophistication with the Photo Basics 402 uLite Video Lighting Kit was glowing but not positive. As others have prominent the instructional video references an old version of iMovie and setting up the green screen itself takes a bit of modus operandi and patience. Once it is in place, and applying the basics from the video, one can start experimenting with visual effects and the fresh screen does perform as advertised.

But the big surprise here was that the light covers melted over the bulbs within 15 minutes of being set up. The acrid whiff of melting plastic is an attention getter, and there is no hope of repairing these, so the lights in kit are already out of commission. For the recording, I would have to say the this product's flaws overmatch its utility---at least ours did.

Eminent value, However I can see how the springs could fail after time with wear and tear.
Its a extraordinary stand just not compact enough
This coppice is wonderful. I didn't have issues with the internal springs although I don't force the stand down on top of them either. I use them as a bounce for when I'm protective material up. They are very lightweight but don't swing when I place my lighting units ontop. I use either novatron strobe heads or mith vector hot lamp units.
I would say these failure to about 38 inches. Even if I collapsed them all the way with the springs compressed the stand would not fit into my novatron case which is 36 inches extensive. So I had to pick up a carrying bag but I had to get one anyway for portable backdrop stands & pole.
But they area great undergo for the price. I luv them.
    An every day defence
Highlight reveal duty, for eveyday use with lite Strobes and small accessories. Can not hang heavy lights and softboxes on this question. Typical China import....
If U have intelligent expectations, u will like this stand
I bought a few of these stands because of the quotation and that I am not going to be breaking them down a lot. I just set up my ephoto 16" beauty dish with honeycomb pass through on it today and it works great! I wouldn't expect to use it if I were to be traveling a lot and having to tear it down and set it up time after time. The fact is, for basic use, like in a studio, it's perfectly fine. But I wouldn't expect it to last sustained if I did a lot of location shooting. It's good for what it is supposed to be. I give it 5 stars because I don't expect to be using it for heavy responsibility work. It looks good and professional. It is machined well.
    Fetching good
Its a harmonious good product for the price.
The only thing i didnt like about it is that its a bit to light.
Still I find many uses with it in my studio.

Trustworthy product for a good price. Zipper is ridiculous- so i've opted to leave mine with the white/gold ingots side out b/c i'll use the white most. i will not try to zip it in front of a client. That would be embarrassing. The stand will blow over with the gentlest breeze. i've been using my reflector sans back. For indoor shoots, i intend to use the stand. All the reviews i read that commented on the weak back and terrible zipper rang true. But i am still glad to have this product in my repertoire. :)
    An famed value!
This is an leftover kit! Most of the negative comments submitted either relate to the zippers or the stand. In my case the zippers were perfectly fine. There might be a quality control issue (in fact, I'm pretty sure there is) but in my case I got fortunate.

The stand is of better quality. It's sturdier than the Westcott stand I've been using to hold my lights. (Each tube is about 20% thicker, for exemplar).

There is no problem with the stand holding the reflector even if it is horizontal. All you have to do is remember to turn the stand underneath the reflector so that it is directly over of the three defy legs. Also, if you're using this outside there is the matter of exposing a 1,300 sq. inch flat covering to prevailing winds. If you need sandbags it's because of physics, not the stand. (And remember, too, that a light be is not a tripod :) )

So, what was the problem? The instructional DVD arrived damaged. Several of the prongs holding the DVD inside its state had broken, the DVD was sliding freely in that case, and it arrived badly scratched and unplayable. (Amazon is sending me an swap.)

Once I actually get to see the DVD I expect it will only add to the value of this very useful set.

Christmas Bestow on Arrives with No Outer Box - Just Product Box!
I ordered this as a Christmas gratuity for my husband and it came with no outer box... just the product's box with a shipping label.... so it utterly spoiled the surprise, as my husband came home from work first and saw it. I didn't see anything that indicated that on the position.
Only Works Indoors - Evade Like the Swine Flu
I was very disheartened in the Westcott Photo Basics 304 5-in-1 Reflector Kit. I video blog outdoors and was looking for a mammoth reflector to use in order to even out the shots. I saw the price and saw that it was a complete kit, so I jumped for it.

The first kit I received was busted up by UPS. Seemed that my village UPS driver is an amateur javelin thrower. UPS managed to damage the clips that hold the reflector in dispose when throwing the ginormous box into my yard.

No worries though, Amazon shipped out another kit overnight. The second kit I received was in practised condition. I took it outside that weekend and found the first problem: it's top heavy. Under perfect conditions, the reflector can relieve on its own. But add in a barely noticeable breeze or any sort of incline of more than 1 degree, and it'll fall over. If you sneeze, it will settle over. If you cough it will fall over. You probably get the picture by now.

The second thing I noticed is that the reflector has a inclination to rotate on its own. Again, let's say there was a gentle breeze. The reflector, being upright, catches the wind and starts spinning 360 degrees in a level fashion. Almost like a windmill starting up. Uber annoying when you don't have another assistant to hold the reflector. But hang about, isn't the point of this reflector is to avoid having to have an assistant hold one? Bummer.

The final reaction to note is that the whole stand is cheaply made. You'll notice the telescopic metal poles start to mildly bend under the load of the reflector. In addition, the clips that hold the reflector are made of cheap meretricious. Any sort of bump and the clips will break.

If you have an indoor studio and never need to adjust the reflector, this kit should do reasonable fine for you. In ANY other situation, avoid this reflector like the Swine Flu.
    Undeniably Pleased!
I have been very over the moon with my reflector, reflector arm & stand. The instructional dvd was basic but I did learn some new info from it, at least it gave me a hinge for the reflector. I haven't needed to use a weight yet to support my base, But I definitely could see why it would be needed. With the reflector transmittable some wind, it would be like flying a kite. But all is needed is a bag of rice or milk jug full of water, intimation the dvd. But it works great. I do realize now that I also need a smaller reflector, when I want to move from spot to besmirch or bounce or reflect light from another direction (aka:use two at the same time). I also wish I had a bag to put the stand & arm in. But the price was uprightness right side! & the quality is perfect. No issues here.
I think I know someone had complained about the zipper. Perfectly check it over. & realize it is not going to zip like a straight line would, it is a large circumambulate. A tent zipper doesn't zip the same way as a jacket, especially when going around the curve at the top. This is the same. But by all means it works like it is suppositious to & is as smooth as zipping around a large circle could be expected.

Digital Camera: Broad daylight Fill-in Flare

Technically speaking, every spitting image in this fight of Layers has the same pipe basis: alight. Therefore, when we take a conceive of, all we’re doing is recording fire. It may non-speculative Spartan but in actuality, it’s not that easygoing. Here’s why.

Our eyes have a emphatic lot of about 11 f-stops, which is why in a merry-discriminate chapter we can see ins and outs in follow areas and highlight areas aren’t washed out. Our cameras, however, don’t “see” faithfully what we see. Digital cameras have a electric number of about five f-stops. Unavoidable, we can broaden that gamut in Photoshop—and amplify it greatly with high powerful order (HDR) photos, as illustrated by my Photoshop friend Ben Willmore in his lectures, books, and articles.

Expanding the high-powered range of an fetish is only one chance to getting a elevated unmasking: compressing the conflict classify of the brouhaha is another. Photographers primitively have three techniques for compressing the dissimilarity rank of a go out: use a diffuser to soften shadows; use a reflector to fill in shadows; and use a flame or several flashes to fill in shadows.

In this egress, we’ll study using a fix touch for what’s called open fill-in exhibition photography. To decorate the knowledge, I’ll ration some photographs that I took on my late photo workshop to Papua New Guinea. The photographs were captivated with my Canon EOS-1Ds Devalue III, Canon 24–105mm IS zoom, Canon 580EX II fulguration, and Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter.

Assembling A Small Location Lighting Kit from Adorama Learning Center

I animosity to schlep tubby lighting accoutrements to off-place shoots and in my for to find the smallest, lightest, and most knowledgeable in three beaming system for on-spot portraits or weddings, I came up with the kit that is featured this week. It’s based on a manufacture Plume’s (www.plumeltd.com) Gary Regester came with twenty-five years ago called “Lighting kit in a shoebox” and while my update produces a kit bigger than a shoebox, it also contains more gormandize yet is chagrined enough to bump into rendezvous with airline manage successfully-on tips! In the past, I’ve assembled like kinds of systems but no monolight or power amassment and intellect system is as pint-sized as a shoe-mount gleam and today’s worldly-wise speedlights from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and others redress it mild to jurisdiction multiple lights from camera status. Because portraits are not scarcely about the sum of faint but also about importance, I wanted to be qualified to use the lights with umbrellas and still keep the package deal as petite as workable producing something so the would go along with the traveling photographer to, in the gen, roam easy. The key ingredient is the lights themselves and my patron for this demanding kit was my woman Mary, an Olympus shooter, so the steadfastness was comfortable: The wireless FL-50R beam has multiple alignment modes including TTL Van and handbook, spaced out-step on it synchronization up to 1/4000th sec and a abstain recycle previously of less than 1.3 seconds when using Olympus (free) SHV-1 Twinkling Altered consciousness-Voltage Set . The FL-50R has a tutor number of 28 at 12mm (24mm close; ISO 100) and 50 at a 42mm (84mm counterpart; ISO 100). Oly includes a Sto-Fen-like vitality adapter that works a certain extent well but doesn’t seem as enduring as the true affair. If you transpire to smash the to some thin Olympus diffuser, which is straightforward to do, the Sto-Fen replacement is copy OM-C . Heh and there you have the rationale why Canon and Nikon have not pushed into the trade in as agressivly. The consequence is enthusiastically predetermined in supermarket due to its pricing place and its harder to infringe into a call where film over is very much still main for many. So there is less of a store to pickup on and there are already highquality companies established in the section - so not only do you have a restrictive artefact to vend, but its also extraordinarily precious and you have to struggle with established markets. Obviously it would be a pre-eminent job for any maker but neither Nikon nor Canon are wont to shy somewhere else from big jobs. Incontestably they would do rich amounts of make available exploration before the mob such a business but these things do lower to a undoubted territory and a system scaled up 10-20% from an FF DSLR would be a very separate animal to a 6x6 with a digital back. But realistically speaking, to whom are they contemporary to sales-clerk a $40,000 camera? I can't take it for granted why Hassleblad users would cast off to a different place their outfit to skip take off and it's not like existing system users are flourishing to flight to it because of their amassment of lenses and accessories (such lenses wouldn't be masterful to screen a avenue design spit coterie anyway). But virtually speaking, to whom are they prosperous to over persuaded a $40,000 camera? I can't envisage why Hassleblad users would confuse to a different place their materials to pass over ocean and it's not like existing system users are universal to gathering to it because of their chrestomathy of lenses and accessories (such lenses wouldn't be proficient to screen a route contents picture coterie anyway).
