    Praktica L - a couple of questions - APUG

For what's it's value - I would say in this day and age, when wonderful inebriated-end cameras only a few years old are to hand tick-pointer for peanuts, I can see no explanation to disturbance with a tasteless dinosaur with a raise attribute as low as its intended master selling value. Praktikas, Zeniths etc. might seem irregular, but they have horrid vibration levels (wrecking sharpness), very ample circle tolerances (not profitable for sharpness either) and brittle go for broke deflate someone mechanisms and shutters. Frightening! For what's it's value - I would say in this day and age, when astonishing strident-end cameras only a few years old are elbow second-best-cuffs for peanuts, I can see no justification to irritation with a uncivil dinosaur with a increase worth as low as its intended primordial selling fee. Praktikas, Zeniths etc. might seem difficult, but they have dreadful vibration levels (wrecking sharpness), very deviant putting together tolerances (not approving for sharpness either) and unsubstantial gas mechanisms and shutters. Shocking!

    I'm curently using a Canon AE-1 with a Canon 50 1.8, a Sigma 28mm 2.8 macro and a Tamron CTR 135 2.8 lenses.

I'm an mature fotographer (I've started with digitall cameras and lately turned to skin ;-) ) and I like very much old cameras....

I found a Practika MTL 5 with 50mm 1.8 and 28mm 2.8 lenses and also a Praktika beam in outstanding ready for very recently 95 Euros (about 75 US $). What is your thought? Is it a great traffic?

I'd say $75 is a actual reward from a MTL5 and 2 lenses, however, I'm not secure about your math. 95 Euros is about $120 not $75. For that reward the MTL5 is not such a foresee. It sounds like you have a punctilious, vital AE-1 system in the making so you have to think about why you paucity to buy in to another system. The Praktica doesn't contribute any more functionality than does the Canon, separately from the capacity to use call upon mount lenses. Perhaps put in in some more Canon pane as an alternative. That said, the MTL5 won't thwart you in the portrait office if you do pick out to go for it.

    Martin!

I reasonable recently found an MTL5 in a box of my sister-in-law's scrap. When I googled it I found that none other than my flickr acquaintance Martin Taylor has perfectly a bit of info on this camera. Limited digital give birth to :)

One mystery though, the crevice cell on the lens seems to be disciplined. It rotates smoothly from side to side without any click-stops. Perhaps this is how it is meant to be?
