Upon receiving it (and another by the same seller), we found these are compatible cartridges. My old Brother 5640 got konked out as I had reach-me-down compatible cartridges and Brother's warranty wouldn't cover it. So I felt deceived. These compatible cartridges may m fine, but if you have any problems just remember the warranty. I have used a few of these compatible ones for over a year and the rate/value proposition is very good. But there is a risk in that, the printer may not recognize these cartridges and keeps asking for a new one. This is precisely what happened with our old printer. The seller acknowledge the error in the description, but after 10 days the representation hasn't changed, making me believe it is intentional misleading. Are we shopping in the third world or what? Loyal product! Horrible product - works exactly the same as the Brother brand. I counted the pages and I got approximately the same number of pages. No clogups in in truth, I believe I cleaned the heads less than I had to with the genuine replacement cartridge. How much can you say about an ink videotape It worked nice, price was great. My drums go fast even though I only use the machine predominantly for faxing, not printing or copying. New appears to be adapted to? Sometimes when a cartridge is about to run out of toner, for example, it burps out a hardly extra toner. Because you can separate the drum from the cartridge, it's possible to clean this up instead of precisely throwing out the whole cartridge before it's really worn out. Another advantage along the same lines is being able to remove pieces of organ that get stuck inside the drum should a paper jam occur. Now as far as the economics of laser printer versus inkjet printer go, only figure it out for yourself. Do the math and come up with the best compromise of print yield, resolution, etc. In terms of comparing the price of combined drum/toner cartridges versus the cost of separate drum/cartridges, I found that there was crumb difference on a per-print basis. Add to that the convenience of recovering from problems described at the beginning of my comments, and I am stilted to conclude that the Brother solution is the best.
