    the nonce for daughter
my daughter is a freshman in college studying photography and wanted these filters. she is very please - and the seller was adept.
    change-over your lighting & protect
helps to modification the light effect of your picture, and protect your lens at the same time, helps to prevent scares on your lens, I cede mine on all the time
Shipped untidy but cleaned up nicely
I got this linear polarizer for my Lumix GH1. Without thought the very protective case, the filter inside was quite dusty and definitely not indicative of attribute optical equipment. However, the dust wiped off cleanly with an alcohol lens cleaning textile for eyeglasses, and the filter works well.
Graduated Sunrise Leach Enhances Natural Sunset Beauty
I amity the Tiffen 62mm Graduated Sunrise Filter. I have used it on sunsets and it gives beautiful enhancements to the already delightful sunset. It's particularly fun when there is blue water, which can be seen through the clear part of the filter, but the oranges/reds are enhanced by the graduated yellow portion of the filter. Glad I have this filter to play with, it's pretty cool to experiment with.
Surprised and Defeated - Arrived Scratched
I have in mind I got the filter that "Camera Guy" returned. The filter was very dirty, covered with specks and a layer of film. Cleaned most of it successfully with dry lens scrap and would have been happy with it, but there was a scratch in the middle. The case was open, appeared very worn, and there was no packing elements of any kind in the box.

There is a handwritten "R" in marker on the back of the cardboard case insert - perhaps it means "return?" Also, unsuitable packing slip was included, for someone else's order of books.

After years of ordering, this is the first bad shipment I have ever received from Amazon, and to beau I have been happy with their customer service. Am hoping this is some sort of fluke - although I am not the only one to receive a dirty and destabilized filter.

Am new to filters - don't know how much, if any, of the problem would have been due to Tiffen quality.

Update 19 May 09 - returned weed out was received by Amazon and refund went smoothly. Am still very happy with Amazon's customer handling.

Much More safely a improved Than A Single-Coated UV Filter
I purchased worthless single-coated UV filters before, and it's really disappointing to see reflection and glare in my pictures (while pointing to a moderate amusing source of course, and light sources are everywhere not just the Sun).

This multi-coated filter is much much much beat. It does eliminate most of the glare and reflection. You would need to point to a super bright gleam source to notice a patch of blue reflection in the your pictures. You won't see any reflection by pointing to customary bright lights like fluorescents and to strayed flash light.
    on a trip quality filter
I noticed that this weed out is of higher quality than my canon branded UV filter. The canon filter glass moves in the cabal and seems to permit small amounts of dust in. This filter does not move in the ring and I have noticed no dust.
Strong-minded Lens protects your expensive lens investment
Benefit every cent to protect any 77mm lens, I purchased this for a Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens I bought which was thoroughly pricey. Was worth it as this assisted in keeping my lens from getting scratches or dings in the crystal and the filter is durable and worth the price unlike some of the cheaper filters.
    Hoya is attractive, seller sucks.
There isn't anything injure with Hoya; I'm still going to seek out this item, just from a different seller. Seller shipped me a destabilized, scratched filter and refused to replace it. Will be returning it. Sad, too, because I needed it before going on a photography-oriented misstep. Humph!

So yes--my advice is to go elsewhere. Or if you've got extra time on your hands, take a risk, order the filter, but be unswerving you inspect it carefully.
    UV weed out
Grand filter, has little effect on pictures but helps protect lens and some glare. Would vouch for.

Stupendous filter at a reasonable price!
I've been looking around for a UV riddle for awhile. One thing I read is there's not reason to go cheap on these things. Why put a piece of glass in front of your lens that is out quality? You can't take a good picture anymore! Anyway - the price is right for this UV filter. I keep in on whenever (and use a lens cap, too...) and refuge't had any problems with lens flare.
    Dedicated filter
I have these Hoya filters on both of my lenses. They do what they are alleged to do. They are a little tough to keep clean but I find that a little breath and the carbon tip of a lens pen works totally.
    very obedient UV filter
very tolerable filter. very thin so my 72mm lens cap would not fit, however..
Strong, Quality Insurance that Removes Haze
My 24-70/2.8 was present commando (no filter) for quite a while, which always made me nervous for a $1,400 lens. I wanted to put a quality clarify on the front so I went for the Hoya Super HMC, which looks great, by the way.

Anyway, just a few short days after I installed the clean, BAM! I slam the lens into the corner of my kitchen table. The filter is now permanently marred, though the stain doesn't appear to affect image quality or light transmission in any perceptible the fad. The most important thing is that my lens is just as good as new. The front element would otherwise have been damaged without the filter! I'm either at the end of the day lucky that I had the filter on there, or I'm unlucky for slamming the lens against my table. Either way, I'm soooo happy that I kept that lens safe. I'm never going ANYWHERE without that filter on the front.
    Gigantic Customer service
I purchased this lens and weakness it. What I like about this company is the Customer Service. Delivery was delayed but they made it right!! They went above and beyond, something that does not meet with much anymore. It matters to them how the customer feels. THANKS!!
I will make them my first stop for shopping in the expected!

    Excessive filters
I am an upright an amateur photographer, and I have owned these filters for about a year. I have been very very happy with them, although I have to say that the circular polarizer is the only one that I use regularly. You cannot find credible how different your landscape pictures will look like with a circular polarizer filter unless you try it. This trickle will really change your life (well, picture-wise at least...). If used properly, you will have pictures with incredibly organized colors. The way it will render the blue of a noon sky is unbelievable.

I use these filters on my digital camera now, and the only minor obstruction is that if you use the digital screen it is often hard to find the correct rotation for the polarizer filter. I mostly use the range-finder, though, and with that the eliminate is as easy to use as it was with my old film camera.

overall, these filters are well worth their price. If you only want to buy one, you should definitely buy the twisting polarizer.
    Tiffen 3 winnow kit
Yield not as represented--filters had been used and some of the black finish on the metal ring was scratched off. Should have been described as utilized.

Tiffen 46mm Photo Fundamentals Filter Kit
When I acclimated to the uv filter with zoom, a circle of black appeared on the borders of the picture. I have not yet tried it for end up or macro shots. Not good.
    Pass through pouch too big
Everything is orderly except the included filter pouch is too big (8 inches long). If could easily be 5 inches big for the 46 mm filters. It will then be more compatible with the smaller camera bag (Tamrac 5230) and the smaller camera (Lumix DMC-FZ28) that I have.
    Sizeable value package
I initially gave this by-product a poor review after using for about 2 weeks. At the time I wasnt sufficiently versed in its use together with the Panasonic FZ18 and therefore got some frustrating results. Here is my revised reassess after using the set for more than 8 months now.
This package actually offers great value for the price. I've illustrious greatly enhanced colour saturation using the polarizer (especially with sunsets and fat hues of blue and orange). The UV filter has also proven effective in reducing the ugly depressed glow look under flourescent lighting as well as cutting haze in my shots. While I've used the ND cheesecloth on rare ocassions to reduce over-exposure, I have yet to try it on other suggested applications, eg. blurring water drift, but this requires a tripod which I dont have. given the fact that I live in Trinidad where almost everything already has a warm limber up, I have never once used the warming filter.
If you're using a wide-angle lens then look out for vignetting (darked out edges)on our shots. To my information, this cannot be avoided since the lens will also capture the edges of the filter given the expanse of its angle. You can influenced this by zooming in slightly until the dark edges disappear.Additionally, remember that with the polarizer, you overcome a little light so you may need to widen your aperture, slow your speed or adjust your ISO to get the propriety exposure.
    Overall, great package, great price.

    Screen review
I had assume from previous reviews about the Tiffen filters and was cautious about buying them. When they arrived I inspected them and found all 3 to be in perfect state. I have been using the UV and Polarizer so far with excellent results. I would recommend this set to future buyers.
    Adequate quality photos possible
I own the 67mm string set, and use it with my Fujifilm S100fs.
The S100fs has a very close macro distance of about 1cm, unfortunately only in the 28mm position of the lens. That leaves the item kind of small in the picture. To counter that, I bought this close-up lens set. The three lenses work like a magnifying window-pane, with different power.
I generally only use the one with the greatest power, and the results are very acceptable. I tried to use all three lenses together, but that gives you notable degradation in picture quality.
Those close-up lenses are by no means an alternative solution to a dedicated macro lens (with length tubes), but if you have no choice, like with a non-interchangeable lens camera like the S100fs, it is a very good work-around. What you get is a bit more imaginative freedom, but it certainly is no silver bullet. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the quality of the pictures I get with the away-up lenses, finding the greatest power lens the most useful.
    So far, so admissible
Bought this lens kit a month ago. Mostly wanted a UV protectress to protect my lens and the polarizer to increase the deepness of the blue skies while in the Galapagos Islands. The 812 Warming gauze was an added bonus considering the price of the other two if bought separately. So far they have held up well and not caused any problems. They happen to be made satisfactorily and I had no problems while on the trip, a plus since I was on a small ship for 8 days and constantly attractive a small boat to the islands everyday in a saltwater atmosphere. I use may camera almost daily, so we will see how they hold up to daily use after a few months.
    proper
Justifiable make sure it's the right size. Also for indoor shots this is obviously darker but on casing shots it helps a lot! This is a must for any photographer that shoots outside.
    Matchless filter
Even though I'm still knowledge all that I can do with this filter I'm already impressed with the results I'm getting.
Great filter. Shipped quick from Adorama. No regrets.

Should I get a polarized lens filter for my camera?

Q: I have a Canon xti with the example 18-55mm lens that came in the kit. The guy at the camera store tried to transfer me a polarized Tiffen filter, which I didn't buy. Now I'm considering it. Is it necessary, and if so, what are the benefits? What are unresponsive things that can come from using it? Can it be left on at all times for all shooting state of affairs? Right now I just have a hood, but am considering returning it for the clarify. Any advice on what to do and what positive and negative effects the filter could have would be gigantic.

A: Cut b stop answer: You don't need it.

A CPL (Circular Polariser) allows you to run out polarised light. Effectively this lets you do several useful things:

It can filch a sky turn a darker blue.
It can take the reflections off water, opera-glasses and reflective surfaces.
It also limits your light gathering power so it can be used as a makeshift ND filter if you need one in a pinch.
It can also sometimes minor extent alter the colour of other things such as foliage.

When using a CPL to darken skies, the object is greatest when shooting at 90degrees from the sun. A word of warning: do not use a CPL to darken skies when using a lens any wider than your kit lens. This hardly ever gives anything other than a very uneven effect as the angle of view is too widespread off the mark.

In some cases a CPL is a MUST, like when you need to reduce reflections but it's not an main piece of kit unless you have the specific needs mentioned above.

I patently wouldn't recommend leaving it on the lens all the time. All filters occasion glare and ghosting, which can degrade your images and even show up as bright lights in your control things, especially when you have a strong light source in the shot.

If you hankering something to leave on your lens as protection, buy a good quality multicoated UV purify. Hoya are good. However, even very expensive filters can cause some splendour, etc.

One thing you should know if you decide to get a CPL is that it won't totally remove assertive reflections from flash. Flash is pure non-polarised hit on and isn't affected until it's been polarised. If you do ever need to do such things then a second polariser can be custom-made over your flash at 90 degrees to the one on your lens to give a flash lit facsimile with very little reflections, even when photographing things such as water.

Out of all these uses for a CPL, reducing reflections is the only one that can't be done in assign processing. For this reason, the CPL (along with ND filters) are amongst the few filters that are still useful in the digital age.

    Goodluck!

Erase: Holly9's answer is partly incorrect. All filters, chiefly cheap filters and especially in bright sunlight can and will wound image quality. So even if you keep a UV protection filter on your lens, it is lettered to remove it for important shots where there are bright light sources.

Also, Holly9s animadversion about UV filters filtering out UV light is also incorrect. Unlike in the vapour days, modern digital sensors are built with filters which sketch out almost all UV light. So a UV filter does nothing, at least not to UV light.

What size filters fits the standard lens for the Canon Digital Rebel Xti?

Q: I have a Canon Digital Resister Xti 10.1 Mpixel camera with the standard 18-55mm lens. I fancy to buy a Tiffen lens kit. I thought I should buy a 55mm lens kit; however, I purchased this camera through NewEgg; they try to get you to hold a lens kit with the camera.
