Big entry level telephoto lens
The SAL75300 is a fantastically priced, vacuous weight and easy to use telephoto zoom. The affordable telephoto zoom is compatible with both APS-C and 35mm full put together alphas. The lens is packaged with front and back caps and a hood for reducing sun flares.
However, looking at my enlargements bewitched with this lens, I wonder if Sony could have introduced perhaps one or two ED elements into the lens, even if it means increasing the retail toll of this telephoto device.
For high contrast scenes, there is very severe purple fringing, as in you will see purple and magenta aura / lights surrounding a bright object if it is surrounded by a darker background. This phenomenon gets worse as you zoom further, and is magnified if your prints go in general. In fact, the purple fringing effect is so obvious you can probably see it even on an 8R print. The purple fringing produce is very pronounced when you're shooting in daylight, which is when I imagine most photographers will be using this lens. High calibre alpha bodies like the a550, a700 and a900 only makes this effect even more unconcealed with their added megapixels.
I gave up on this lens awhile ago since I occasionally take shots that I want to handle on a stock photo site. They have consistantly rejected my images because of the above issue, although that does not refer to the SAL75300 is not a good lens for daily snapshots. Do look out for this purple fringing impact if you get to try the lens out before purchasing. Just frame a high contrast scene, or shoot a coterie of objects containing reflective surfaces with the test camera's flash (assuming it has one, the a850 and a900 do not have built in hint). Playback the image and zoom it as high as you can go on the test camera's LCD screen. Look at the edges of those radiant objects, and I guarantee you will see magenta and/or purple halos surrounding them.
Sony has a very high quality, but very very valuable alternative for the SAL75300. It's the SAL70300G. The SAL70300G's G optics blew the SAL75300 away, however, as I am handwriting this review, it costs almost 3 times more. The SAL75300 makes a great starter telephoto zoom, but it is not undeniably something you can use in the long run if you are training to become a pro. Professional photographers should definitely give this a miss. And, although the lens is affordably priced, it is not systematically something you don't have to spend a good sum of money to get. Therefore, despite the many positive 5-star reviews written here, I cannot in textile conscience rate this lens anything over a 2-star due to its optical flaw.

Marvellous!
after getting a sony alpha a330 camera with the root 18-55mm lens, i decided to upgrade and got myself this telephoto lens. i saw it on amazon and it had really benefit reviews and was pretty cheap so i got it. after taking it out and using out doors i can say this is one really good lens. it has coupй focus built into it and it reaches out really far. its built very solid and looks really hairy. but like all sony lens when you focus it, the lens is kinda loud but that's no biggy.

Frightening Lens!
It's a gentlemanly compliment to the 18mm-70mm lens that came with the camera. I really enjoy being able to get close ups on the action shots in the sporting events that I go to.

This lens opens a whole new dimension.
What a fun lens this is, and what wonderful new photos I can now take with my Sony A700! I have enjoyed my photography avocation since 1950 and have used all sorts of different camera formats and brands as well as dozens of lenses of all kinds. I have entered and won contests, and I have done exhibitions, so I am not unconditionally an amateur in photography. I can say that this lens lives up to everything it claims it can do. The images are clear and in focus, even in the corners at full zoom. It works well in low window, and it is fast enough that I rarely need to use a tripod. It is just as easy to operate as any of the zoom lenses of my 35 mm overlay cameras. Great product. I'm going to have quite a bit of fun with this.

Honourableness on the go
I got this lens from a financier who called me telling there's a store having a clearance sale and he told me this lens had 90% overlook so without any hesitation I asked him to buy it for me (cost 7KD = $23.5 USD). As soon as I tried it on my Sony A100 (Now A700) I knew this lens is not as adept as the other lenses but it could handle its job nicely. It lacks quality, its Macro switch always getting on the way of the zoom rotation, has the proclivity to slightly go out of focus even with spot focus and also a very slow focus. Picture quality is not as yard goods either but it's good if you're not going big scale. High chromatic aberration on low apertures and hard/on the qui vive DOF which makes the pictures less appealing and need more editing. You don't need to bother if you're going to rank down pictures, you'll be on the safe side.

Out-and-out for amateur photographer!
I'll start by saying that I am by no means a proficient photographer. I only recently picked up my Sony a330 DSLR, and while I love everything I've been able to do with the kit lens, I recognized that I needed something else to get those clinch up shots I've desired. This lens does pretty much everything I wanted it to do without me even trying! I took it to the leave and got some great shots of strangers walking by from at least 100 feet away. It creates exceedingly good bokeh and the subjects come out looking crystal clear in the foreground. The Coupй-fucus seems to be a bit slow, but honestly if you're shooting things from really far away, you'll probably impecuniousness to use Manual focus anyway (at least I do). Can't wait to take this to some concerts and see what kind of shots I can get.

Merely ordered mine yesterday, got to work this morning, and received an e-mail that my lens was delivered to my entrance at 7:30am. Amazing! I'm already dumbfounded with the quick delivery time. I'm a Amazon Prime Consumer but it was faster than one-day shipping!!!
Will update this once I get home and have a chance to play with my lens!

Acceptable all around lens
I have two Sony Alpha 300 DSLRs and this lens is always on one of them. This lens has set very satisfactory results - perhaps not as good as some of my Minolta prime lenses, but good. I wish that it was a bit faster, f/2.8, but I'm indubitable that would put the price out of reach.

I have an Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D that is no longer made. I found I couldn't use my old "mist based lenses" on this digital camera. But this Tamron lens has worked extremely well on my digital camera. I highly make attractive this lens. Plus you don't need to carry any other lenses when you travel. Always a good thing.

Well-mannered all around lens
Sunday all around lens. Lightweight and durable quality back by Tamron's 6 year warranty. Chromatic abberation and pin insulate effect is evident at mid to full zoom but should not bother the casual user or amateur photorapher. You may not even consciousness the aberration unless you are a pro. Good low light auto-focus in tandem with the flash's or camera's built-in pinpoint assist beam. The focus motor is quite noisy but I do love hearing the whirring robust as it locks in on the subject. For the price, I would recommend.
BTW, Sony sells the same focal lenght lens for $500. Sony is a greater stockholder of Tamron (See info at Tamron's website). So one can only assume that Sony and Tamron does stake the same technology on their lenses except for the price which is $200 less.

Gigantic all-around lens
I'm only a swot of photography, so I'm not able to get too technical in my review. I bought this lens because like most, I wanted an all-in-one lens. A lens that would agree to me to take close family shots and those distance shots; when I can't be as close as I'd like to be. I've only had this lens for a about a month now, but I must say I'm to the nth degree happy with the lens. With that said, I'm very big on landscape photos and not heavy into sports or fast strength shots. The photos I've taken with this lens so far (around 500) are very crisp and clean shots.
I did commentary warn that the lens can be a little slow on the auto focus, so beware. If you plan to only use this lens for sports and/or manner shots, you might be a little disappointed. Otherwise, this lens is great! Now, I can get rid of my three other lenses that this single lens has replaced.

You have to use a Tripod to get abrupt pictures.
Got the lens by looking at the gigantic reviews. I have playing around with this one for around a month now. The pictures are good as long the light is great. The prominence you take it in slightly low light, the images will have blur because camera shake will come into play as shutter expedite goes down. Yes because it does not have VR or IS (image stablization). And I am not talking about dark or near darkness. Even indoors the pictures won't be fly unless you use a tripod and fire your shots with a remote or timer. I usually take my pictures during the day so I am happy to have a higher zoom and macro wherewithal. Also I have learnt to use tripod almost all the time. But again this is a bargain price for this kind of equipment. Sigma has given us a acceptable option at a dirt cheap price.

Tremendous value
I was skeptical at first because of the low assay, but I am very pleasantly surprised by what a decent lens this is. It's sharp, has good range, and even in low light, still does well on my Pentax K200D.
I've noticed dilemma focusing at its maximum focal distance. I haven't had a chance to play around with it to see what's going on. Also note that the slightest focusing distance is 5 ft, so if you're buying it for macro work, keep that in mind. If you're looking for a low-cost telephoto lens, this one can't be dead beat at this price.

Very charming lens at a great price
I bought the Tamron to go with my Sony a200 dslr. The lens is surely nice quality, and it works perfectly with the camera. Autofocus is quick and accurate. It is certainly not a pro trait lens, but for the price it is wonderful. I recommend this for anyone who wants a telephoto zoom to add to their dlsr. I tried out the Sony 70-300mm lens in a neighbourhood store, but I was not impressed. In particular the usability of manual focus on the Sony lens was quite on one's uppers. This one is fantastic in that regard. You may not use manual focus that often, but it's nice to have a lens that can handle the job when you need it.

A dream of lens
First off this is in no way a concentrated lens, its big and its heavy, but it does produce very sharp and detailed images under the right state of affairs.
I am using this with my Sony A200 and it performs well on a tripod, but for handheld success it better be a very bright genial day or a very high ISO setting because this lens is very difficult to control at extreme telephoto lengths. My Sony begins flashing the foreshadowing sign in the viewfinder at 200mm, but to the cameras credit the steady shot performs well. That being said I would present that this lens be used with a tripod.
Bottom line, for the cost this is a very nice lens. It is louder than the Sony or Minolta's, and it does ransack a bit at extreme telephoto (partially I beleive due to camera shake induced by it's weight) but all things designed the build quality seems, to me at least, to exceed the Sony kit lens.

Best value beginner DSLR camera 2009
This year, tyro DSLR camera do not evolved much in locution of semblance decidedness and new features. Except Canon which increasing the megapixel calculate from 12 ( Canon XSi / 450D ) to 15 MP, other manufacturers brace with 10-12 MP accuracy.
Many new features are inherited from more militant camera. These allow for talkie recording craze. So far, there are three beginners digital SLR cameras that capable to register silver screen: Canon T1i / 500D, Nikon D5000 and Pentax k-x. Although this talking picture trend implementation is not terrific and not drug loving, but the faculties to exchange lenses and talent to kill so so video in low faded spot unsurpassed consumer camcorders. And the best value DSLR camera for 2009 are: 1. Pentax K-x Amount: $650
Although it is not released to the social yet, Pentax K-X is the beat value DSLR camera 2009 on the wrapping paper. It has innovative features of higher end DSLR camera, but it is significantly cheaper than novice digital SLR cameras. It features 12 megapixel, 4.7 fps incessant shatter and off the mark ISO file up to 12800 (Because somatic limitation, I find credible that ISO 1600 – 3200 will be the limit of satisfactory images).
It also has a very consolidated DSLR camera portion, built-in perception stabilization, flicks recording fashion, and coupй HDR (exalted active run). Pentax k-x is doggedly a secondary camera that have a lot of budding internal it. The hairy item is it comes with several choice colors such as red, ghostly, and flotilla down in the mouth.
It does has a downside. There is no coupй blurred dim summons in the viewfinder (the for will be in the lcd camouflage), and smaller camera masses might be not self-satisfied for drug that has big side by side.
One feature that unexcelled about K-X, like other Pentax tyro cameras is the use of four AA batteries in preference to of rechargeable lithium battery-operated. Pentax claims that four AA lithium batteries will be clever to power the camera up to 1900 shots (based on CIPA Beau id), which is very imposing. This could be an advantageously but can also be disservice. For exemplar, AA batteries are unexceptionally nearby and cheaper, but it might not be very sure.

Are Minolta and Sony Digital Camera Lenses Comparable, and who makes the best lenses for a sony camera?
Q:
A: Minolta AF lenses and Sony Alpha lenses both interest the Minolta AF mount.
For a Sony camera, your best lenses will be the Konica/Minolta or Sony-branded ones, but there are lenses from third-pary manufacturers which may not have a Sony counterpart and thus, would potentially be of interest to you.
does anyone know how to fix a sony camera lens that is stuck?
Q: i have a sony cybershot digital camera (DSC-W55) and unfortunately my sister dropped it, now the lens is stuck. i went to the sony advantage centre yesterday and they said they had to replace the lens, and it will sell for 3000+ PHP (not including the labor) im still hoping to find an alternative to fix it, a much more cheaper one, coz i dont expect they have to replace it since the lens isnt broken, its just stuck. faith someone can help me asap
A: Well, a lens device works on a rack and pinion arrangment, when you droped it one teeth of the gearwheel slipped in so it is tilted to one side and hence it won't move. The get the better of way to fix it is to change the lens unit, but befor that you can try a little by yourself. Token carefuly which side the lens is tilted, now swith off the camera and try to tilt the lens segment to the opposite side this may bring the sliped teeth in to right emplacement (you can hear a faint click from the camera if you do it right). Be carefull while doing it, if you credit more pressure it may spoil the camera further..
What are the best cheap telephoto zooms lenses for sony alpha camera's?
Q: i've got a sony a350 with 18-70 kit lens.
i'm looking to get a telephoto zoom lens, which is the most adroitly mix of quality and price?
also is there a good place to get them second workman?
A: There is no such feature as a cheap telephoto lens or zoom.
Most of the cheap generic lenses are made for Nikon and Canon cameras.
You can look at the websites of Tokina (vanquish of the generics), Sigma, Tamron and others to see if they make any lenses that will work on your Sony alpha ... they may.
Honest luck
BTW Sony makes a nice new 70-400mm F4-5.6G SSM but it is NOT for peanuts at $1,500. Their 70-300 mm is about $230 if you can find one.
Sony alpha cameras are too new to find any honest used lenses unless you can find a compliant Minolta auto-pinpoint lens.
This link will show you that all the really cool Minolta lenses were vade-mecum focus ...
