Customer Review: It all Depends on What You Will Be Using it For!
Before I received it, I was very skeptical; trait! usability, value! All these questions were lingering in my mind. Then I received it. At first impression, I was elated! The develop quality was not bad at all, it reminded me of Canon's big lenses, though much less fancy. What struck me as odd, was not the external zooming or focusing intend rather than the short end of the zooming tube left to support the weight of the lens at ful zoom arrange. I could understand the designer's point of view from an engineering perspective, what I could not understand was that a 2 extra eventually in the internally moving tube beyond the maximum zooming range would have added enough stability to decode the lens far superior than its cuurent pathetic configuration, yet nobody gave this thought a rat's tail end. It is made in China, yet the add stated that it was made in Japan. It appears that, though some chinese products are come up to to the Japanese when under strict engineering and manufacturing tolerances, left to their own whims, they try to cut corners that cannot God willing be cut from an American end user's perspective, rendering the whole thing a fiasco. Fortunately, this is not a total botch, but I sure hope that somebody out there is reading these letters right now! Only 2 of extra aluminum tubing would do the job a moment ago fine. Another aspect, albeit, this time strictly esoteric; the lens is so bland! When you with a German or a Japanese Lens, apart from the instantly evident signs of high superiority, you will notice that it has had a lot of thought when the general looks were being considered. This one is lacking luster, which when added, would not definitely add any extra cost. Just placing some fancy tags and inscriptions with multi go red zooming lines scheme would make a world of a difference to the appearence and the seeming quality. Again, I foresee someone is reading these letters right now! Now to usability: If you think you could use this lens for anything other than mounted on extremely relentless tripod for long to very long exposure shots, you will have wasted your time and money. This lens could only be utilitarian for nature, some wild life, and landscape, where quick shots are not even part of your prepearation, much less your consideration. Property wise, well, for the price and the market for which it is intended, it is a very good tool, all you need is a good acquaintanceship of its capability and limitations, and a super heavy tripod as well as super majestic targets to tot it with this lens. The rest is superflowous. Conclusion: You are not a pro, you have $300 to spare, you enjoy photography and are eager to go distances for good shots, and you are not thinking of selling your products to photo agencies! If these situation meet you half way, buy the darn thing, it is the only lens out there capable of doing what a hunting pillage is capable of Photographic Lenses: Photographers Guide to Characteristics, Quality, Use and Design; bringing you the make a beeline for head up of a trophy from a quarter mile away!
Customer Review: Phoenix 650-2600mm Telephoto Lens
This lens not bad for the medium of exchange,Can't hand hold it. Its long and heavy, I found that it leaves halos around some of the images like ducks and eagles I have been delightful photos of.Other wise it not a bad lens used with a tri-pod or mini pod. If you can't afford a canon hi end lens like i would of like this one not bad.

Stupefying for its price
I bought this lens for my surfing photography. I don't have the prosperous to shell out for the Canon lenses that I really want, so I figured that I'd give this one a try. The lens isn't brand name quality or glassware, and don't expect it to be--but it's still able to do exactly what I want and I'm SUPER pleased with it. I'm able to get facial shots (to all intents up the nose!) of surfers from the shore. My only issues with this lens is that it's manual focus and you can't play with the crack while in Manual. The manual focus isn't too big of a deal since you just have to fiddle with it, but the lack of being able to exchange aperture is a bit annoying--but, for the price of the lens and the shots that I'm getting, it's a small thing to get provoked over.
As others have said, however, definitely use a tripod, get lots of practice with manual focusing, and a remote manager is a definite, definite plus.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this product and I would definitely buy it again.

Wonderful Telephoto Lens
A rather savage unit to work with. I am using this on my Canon XSI camera and the depth of vision is very shallow and it is rather hard to take documentation looking pictures with it. Admittedly I am not a pro or even a semi pro photographer, but I have been taking pictures for a long prematurely.
The price was right so I went for it. I will probably end up selling it.

Performs as advertised
I was skeptical that a lens which impartial costs a couple of hundred dollars can actually take nice photos. I was totally surprised with the results. If you own a at bottom sturdy tripod and can live with long exposures/high ISO(read noise), this lens is more beat for the buck. A similar focal length "real" lens can cost you in five figures. You can think more out of this lens if you own a camera with 10M+ pixels and high ISO sensivity. My lens came with a bag though once you screw T mount adapter, it becomes insignificant tricky to bag the lens, but I guess I don't use the lens on every day basis so that shouldn't be a problem. I haven't tried the 2X adapter yet as I have to buy a new tripod. So this critique is for just the lens 650 - 1300 mm.
Overall very statisfied and the lens performed as advertised.

not a bad lens, if ya be familiar with what your doing
i came across this lens, figured ,what the heck, sacrifice is rite.i read a lot of bad reviews, but i gambled anyway and bought it.( the package deal). the bad reviews must have came from characteristic and shoot users. im old school 35mm film guy, and had no problems compensating for the fixed f8, on my nikon d40x.yes its pitch-dark,but like i said, if you know what yer doin, its a decent lens. the carry case, ample. cleaning stuff cool, tripod, too lite weight, for this lens, but is ok for just steadying yer cannon-ball. i use a remote which helps alot. i very rarely use a tripod except for my astro photos, everything shot with my phoenix was together held, or on my knee, and i had no probs. someone tell me how to add a pic on here and i will.

Economical Great Way for taking pictures of the moon!
Best clothes value for taking pictures like those of a full the moon!
Litle bit heavy, so use a good tripod, but I have had eximious results!
I've tried to included a picture taken with this lens but had no luck.
On my experience the box in which it was packaged, was not as edible as it should have been so once you recive it, make sure to find the T-mount inside.

Big Zoom - Youthful price!
The Phoenix is a well-founded "long-lens" for the budding photographer. It offers the ability to get that great shot while staying in another place from the action or intruding upon it. With no f-stop selector, the Phoenix lacks in the high-end functionality route, but with a little discipline, this lens will give you what you need to shoot sports, wildlife, etc... from a distance. You definitely necessary to use a tri-pod or mono-pod while shooting with this lens or you will have horrible results.

Reliable price for the product
I was on top of the world with the capabilities of this lense for the cost versus the costs of a comprable zooming lense from other makers. It was a merit buy for the money and even though it takes a little finess to make it work the way I want it was better than paying thousands of dollars.

I bought this lens because I have started getting into countryside photography, especially watching some nesting Swainson's Hawks. According to the pictures, this lens should get me fix up to their refuge. Well, it did get me a small quicker, but nothing like the exact replica showed, and then when I put the pictures on my computer, all of the pictures were so overexposed you couldn't see what you were looking at. Don't extirpate your wherewithal on this lens.

Which teleconverter do I need to fit the Phoenix 500mm that mounts in the middle of the lense?
Q: The lens is the F8 and describes the teleconverter attaching in the halfway point of the lense. Which one do I need b/c all I've seen are lenses that attach to the camera body
The teleconverter I neediness IS in fact a T-mount style. That's why it does't connect to the richness. Any idea where one could be purchased?
A: You will paucity to describe your question a little better.
The Phoenix 500 mm lens and all others lay hold of directly to the camera.
What camera do you have? What camera is the Phoenix lens designed to fit?
Most auto-focus cameras will only travail in the auto-focus mode with lenses faster than f/5.6 ... adding a tel-extender (teleconverter) will add at least a effective 2 stops, so your 500 mm f/8 will become a 1000 mm f/16
Your statement, "all I've seen are lenses that subjoin to the camera body" is a little disconcerting ... since that is the way ALL lenses are partial to to SLR or DSLR cameras, I am wondering why this surprises you.
Looking for a camera shop in the Phx/Glendale AZ area...?
Q: I'm looking to buy a Canon Rebel XTi, and don't wish to buy it from the morons at Best Buy or Wal Mart. I'm looking for a REAL camera blow the whistle on buy, that sells cameras and accessories like lenses, filters, tripods, etc. Does anyone be acquainted with of a reputable one in the Phoenix or Glendale area?
A: Indubitably the best camera shop in the Phoenix area is Tempe Camera near ASU.
This is where a lot of the townswoman professional and free lance photographers go for equipment (and bizarre processing). I actually bought my Rebel XT from Fry's Electronics (quicker to my house and a little cheaper), but I have bought all of my lenses and other equipment at Tempe Camera.
They are positioned on University west of the ASU campus.
16-35mm vs. 17-40mm on Canon 5D?
Q: I'm fetching a road trip from Phoenix, AZ to Yellowstone in Wyoming. I'm planning on stopping at citizen parks all along the way to take photographs. Therefore, I'm trying to find a decent wide oblique lens for my Canon 5D and can't decide between the two. Anyone have any experiences with either or both ot these lenses on a FF camera body?
A: I only acclimated to my 16-35mmm briefly on a 1Ds Mk II, but have a friend who has used both and greatly prefers the 17-40mm, outstandingly for landscape work. The speed difference (which isn't a big deal anyways in countryside work) is greatly off-set by performance on the wide end in the corners. The new Mk II interpretation of the 16-35mm may be better, but I don't think you could go wrong with the 17-40.
Good fortuity, and have a great trip!
