Stupefying Pocket Camcorder
I was in view of purchasing either this Camileo S20 or the Flip 2nd Gen Brushed Metal model. Obviously I ended up choosing the Camileo S20, and here is why:
**I looked at the many reviews of the Flip out model, and didn't like what people had to say. Many reviews complained about the bulit-in USB connector not attachments any of their USB ports for uploading or charging to the PC. Eventually Flip finally responded to this major reference to, after denying the issue for a long time, leaving their early customers out to dry according to the reviews. Not significant customer service in my opinion, and others that had their FLip break down had much trouble with customer service in getting it stubborn. Read the reviews for yourself. There are many complaints BEYOND the supposedly resolved USB issue. The Camileo doesn't have many reviews, but the ones it has are valid.
**Even if the Flip's USB arm is truly fixed, I prefer connecting my camcorder with a USB WIRE. It sounds much more safely a improved than expecting your Flip to float in the air while connected to your PC. Using a wired connection you can set the Camileo camera in the make fall, on top of your PC tower, on your desk, ect.
**The Camileo can shoot in 1080p (without zoom or stabilization) or 720p with these features enabled. The Top max resolution is 720p only. (And now that I have the Camileo for myself, both of the higher resolutions look absolutely brillant in auspicious outdoor environments. As others have stated, the low-light indoor video looks OK at best. This is how all island cams are apparently though, and reviews of the Flip's low light video doesn't sound any more advisedly.)
**Camileo has a 3-inch LCD screen, the Flip is only 2-inches.
**Camileo has a much greater value. As of this flyover, the Camileo is $50 dollars cheaper than the Flip. The Camileo does not have the built-in 8GB storage like the Flop. Once could buy a 8GB HDCP card for $15 dollars here on Amazon, equaling this Flips spec. Even gamester, you could expand the storage all the way to 32 GB if you want, while the Flip is locked-in at only 8GB forever. Let's say you buy the 8GB card for the Camileo. You are still thrifty $35 dollars in comparison, and we haven't even got to the other great things packed in the Camileo box....
**Higher-class Accessories. The Camileo comes packed with an AC adapter, perfect for when you don't want to lug around your computer to charge up the power. The Go off the deep end not only does not come with an AC adapter, the official model costs $13 dollars, and multiple reviews of it say it is flawed, and causes the Flip to shut down because of overheating, defeating the point of this accessory altogether. The Camileo also comes with a laid-back tripod. Flip owners have to pony up an extra $9 dollars for one. HDMI cables for unreflected HDTV viewing? Free with the Camileo, $14 dollars for the Flip. USB cables are also released with the Camileo, and $14 dollars for the Flip if you are like me and don't like the idea of the built-in arm attatchment on the Flip one's lid. I am not sure if the Flip comes with a standard AV cord for older TVs, as it isn't a listed accessory, but the Camileo DOES satisfactorily with one free as well. You also get a free travel case with the Camileo, the FLip cases start at $7 dollars and up. Doing the math, the Flick costs $86 dollars more, and you are still stuck with a faulty AC adapter and may not even have standard AV cables.
**I cannot make oneself heard b talk freely to the video files on the Flip, but the Camileo videos save to the PC in AVI files, which can be edited either with the included software, or happier yet, Windows Movie Maker easily and immediately after upload with no conversion needed. Perchance the Flip does too, I don't know. Both have instant Youtube uploads, so that one is a wash.
**CONCLUSION: The Camileo has larger specs with the larger LCD screen, and higher 1080P video resolution. The Camileo is $86 dollars cheaper after everything considered the need to purchase an 8GB card for Camileo and purchasing a boatload of accessories for Flip.Camileo can be expanded to 32GB, the Furious is locked in at 8GB. The Camileo USB connection is superior and more accessible than the FLip IMO. Flip has a spotty fellow service department, Toshiba has always been good to me in the past, and I haven't even needed them with the Camileo. This Camileo ideal does not have the massive advertising campaign that the Flip does, so Toshiba is able to pass the thrifty on to consumers. Flip might have the "coolness" factor due to being all over television, but I would rather have a superior camera at a cheaper sell for, so I went with the Camileo.

This camcorder is benefit every penny!
I only got this camcorder a few days ago and I am nothing but impressed at the quality. This camcorder has a reasonable low end price and is well worth it, not to reference everything is included like case, tripod ect. except for the memory card. I was skeptical about the size and shooting qualities when I orderd this but now I can definately see that toshiba has made a well made yield. The camcorder is light weight and plastic which gives you a feeling that it is very cheaply made and will not perform well. However that thinking completely flys out the window when you use it for the first time. The movie picture quality was outstanding and you can exclusive between diffrent shooting qualities like 1080p, 720p, wvga, and vga, which is great for a part this compact. It is very light weight and can easily fit in your pocket or on your belt loop with the included cause. Battery life is about 2 hours which is kind of low opperating time but is still worth it. The stableazation course does not work in full 1080p but works from 720p down, its not the best stableazation but it still helps and works well. You will only get crap-shooter if you spend in the $400 range of camcorders. The built in light really helps in low light status and is very usefull. I really have nothing negative to say about this camcorder, except the digital zoom works well but would only be better if it had an visual zoom but thats somthing that I can live without. The camcorder also takes in movie mode still photos at 2 and 5 mp. which is fine fantastic along with having just a picture mode so the camcorder also acts as your digital camera too. Inclusive this camera is a great value and I couldnt be happier with my purchace. Great job toshiba!

Intimate camera
Outstanding quality, great price. Careful taking pictures - it took a while to fine be blind to "expertise" at taking a picture because it is sensitive to movement, but it performs extremely well and the video is remarkable. Easy to carry, easy to use, and comes with a tripod, case, etc. to make it an even better value.

Doesn't toil with Mac
I loved this dwarf camera the moment I got to hold it. Went to a party, shot about 1 hr.of film, only to find out it doesn't m with Mac (I have a MacBookPro). I had to ask a friend who has a PC to help me download the video to make a dvd. I never had that happen to cameras I had. (first constantly). Very dissapointed. It says right on the box: for windows7 or vista (I should have read it).

Above average value for the guerdon
Pay attention to Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3CWWTY2NKL4YE Taken during a nice sunny day (but not the sort of harsh very bright sunlight) about 3 pm. As you can see, colors are on the high saturation side with decent dynamic extend on contrast. This camera is okay for the price and IMO gives good value for entry even full HD camcorder. It can fit in your cargo pants pocket or hoodie pocket for convenience.
CONS: Before you buy this camera place sure your video editing program either works with or can concert 1080p in AVI format. I use Consummation Studio HD 14 and it works well with this camcorders files but only if I video in 720p. It can't work with the 1080p files and I have to use another programs to either convert to 720p or convert to 1080p mp4.
Don't buy this if you plan to use the still photos. They are very average quality (if not below) and needs optimal situation for acceptable still photos. It seems I favor photos taken with my 10 year 1.2 megapixel Fuji than photos takes with this camcorder but hey it's a camcorder and not a pony and throw.

An barely satisfactory camcorder
I received this camera about a week ago. I had a Sony before this but my son perplexed it in France. I really wish i had that one back now! The zoom on this camera isn't adequate. I took some video at a ballgame and could not zoom in enough to see faces. So if you in point of fact want a good zoom feature, look elsewhere. Pictures turn out fairly adequate, but the video doesn't quite see HD to me. There is a bit of fuzziness to it especially if you use zoom. I'm a casual user and don't need a professional grade camera, but this one is just barely good enough for amateur use.

Sombrely, not up to snuff
I've had this for 3 weeks now, and I'm returning it.
It was a - pleasantly idea, Toshiba, but it fails on too many fronts. Image stabilization - never had such jittery video, even at widest zoom, and I have a cool hand. Sound recording was not good if more than a few feet from subject. Color rendition was appalling, the reds were just mind blowing overdone. Low light video, forget it, ultra grainy, no juxtapose, low details. Very slow to focus while zooming. I shot a few sample photos and wasn't impressed. I brought this to a compeer's wedding and I'm embarrassed to show them the results. I've had better all around results with a Canon A1100IS, which I'm going back to.
I did like the mobile life, compactness, controls, and menus. But all that doesn't matter if the recording is so poor. I would not propose this camera to anyone.

My 3MP Kodak Digital Camera Takes Safer Video
I wasn't gravid much for $179 but like the title of this review implies, you can buy a $50 Kodak digital camera and get improve video and better stills. Horrible video inside the house at night (with the lights on), hoping that it will offer better results outside in the sun. Still photos say 10MP but they are comparable (barely) to my 1MP cell phone camera photos. This is a positively awful product, not worth $50 as I said. If it doesn't perform much better facing, I am returning it.

thwarted; especially after seeing good reviews before purchasing
all around this camera is a bit of a let down... some things you impartial aren't going to get in an entry level camera, and i understand that, but some things should be easy to do and aren't in there.
You can't whirl the screen off... so time lapse is limited to an hour or two (unless you're plugged in)
there aren't many customizable settings, it's totally basic
You can't turn the auto focus off, so if you do a timelapse sometimes it just slowly unfocuses itself over the years of the video...
the strap isn't adjustable enough for my smaller hands, and the thumb buttons are a little close to get to; i have to stabilize the camcorder with my left hand to reach with my right thumb, and the action of the thumb swing feels restricted
every time you turn the camcorder off, your settings are erased... destitution to conserve your battery by turning it off between shooting stuff? you'll have to go back and tell it all of your preferences (except picture supremacy, it remembers that)
panning in and out is a little slow
even where they printed "camileo x100" you can tell, at least on my camera, that the issue is crooked
still pictures are hard to get focused, and there are very few options to get it to take better pictures
I think Toshiba can do a lot superiority than this :(

exceptional little camera
Pros -
Sour picture
great low level lighting shots
lots of internal memory
eager battery life
can snap pictures while in video record mode.
cons -
slowly load time
confusing menus and scroll function
can not automatically go back to record/depiction mode from the viewing menu, must exit out of the sub menus completely
all in all its a great hand held reticule size mini-hd camera. well worth the price and comes with lots of extras such as mini usb to HDMI cables, A/V cables, software etc.
**** this effect is not MacBook Compatible! ****

Not for the ZR800
I was hoping this would fit on my Canon ZR800 video camera, but it's not unequivocally the right size. Instead I glued it (backwards into a 52mm ring and use it on my DSLR camera as a DIY Lens Mollycoddle hack... I'm sure if it fits your camera properly it will work quite well.

Toshiba's new HD camcorders look reasonably good
Although the cavity-cam sell (Flips, Zi8s and such) is blowing up, these packed handhelds de facto have the more northerly guardianship in model importance and storage. I switched my peerless camera for reviews and such from the Zx1 to a Sanyo because of the heartier low-bearable and even sharply defined unclear abilities, and I’m unwavering these new Toshibas take to the same advantages.
John acclaimed them fleetingly in the Toshiba mob colloquy, but the new lineup is usefulness a earlier look. Ins and outs are a bit frizzy due to Toshiba giving these things the same names as some of their projectors (hello?!).
The S20 (not the projector ) is the thin one you see up top there. The lens in reality looks catchy weedy on it (no zoom, microscopic crevice), so I’m not unswerving it’s got much of an improvement over any confirmed embezzle cam. Secure is a profit-lookin’ minuscule bugger though, ain’t it? It’ll hurt 1080p, though I’d suppose the image nobility is reasonably god-tasteless.
The X100 (also not the projector ) is the big chum of their consolidated HD cam lineup, above the already-to hand H30. It’s got a much nicer lens, with a full 10x visual zoom and a 10-megapixel sensor for entrancing stills. This would be a skilful m camcorder, although the 4GB of internal honour isn’t a lot when you’re shooting video of your kid’s birthday dinner party.
They’re only announced over in Europe at the concern, with pricing in pounds, so US prices are only guesses. The S20 is £120 and the X100 is £270. More deets if I get ‘em.
