Legitimate what I've been looking for...
I've been looking for an affordable LCD cam luminescence for quite a while. I even attempted to make my own. . . too awkward. I prefer clean and simple.

The Sima SL-20LX is top for the price. It's compact, bright, light weight and holds a charge for about an hour after a full debt. The straight bracket is a nice added value.

I suggest getting at least two if your going to dire light for more time. Keep one charging while using the other.

The light is a bit blueish so I would like to have seen slits molded strategic on the casing to use with gels.

A wall powered option would have been useful. You can't operate the cam light while plugged into the stallion. The documentation included gives fair warning about this but you have to open the packaging to find out.

It does not keep a responsibility while stored so make sure to charge it just before use. It won't light right out of the packaging so dictate it for a few minutes then test it briefly then give it a full charge before the initial use.

If you are using a right angle group or the one that is included you may need to rotate the bracket in order to center the light on the subject. For time to come upgrades would suggest a universal joint on the cam light for pan and tilt control over the unit without having to refuge to adapters. A modest price increase would be worth it.

If you shoot in rough conditions be cognizant of the plastic hardware.

I'm glad I bought it and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues. It's a nice reckoning to my AV kit.
    My Crumb Pic saver.
This find was introduced to me by a couple of guys at a photo event in a club in baltimore. They were both using it on a a handful of of DSLRs. So, I bought one too. I love it. I have to tweak my settings a little bit in my camera, but it works faithful. I'd recommend this light to anyone who needs a good, inexpensive light for photo work.
    Thanks for the reviews
For Paul, David, & Jerry, thanks for some very annoying reviews on the little Sima SL-20LX. I read through your reviews quite thoroughly, and came to the conclusion that this element may have a serious place in my lighting arsenal. One thing I'm still curious about, is how these little buggers would do shooting cover. Has anyone tried that yet? If they're compatible with film, then I know I've just got to have a couple of them. Sure can't beat the rate! Even without user replaceable batteries. If it dies, just trash the damn thing & pop for another one.
    HD+Evensong Vision :)
If you have an HD camera that dosen't have nightvision, I would stand up for using the Sima SL-20LX Ultra-Bright Video Light!
Any HD camera can fit on the included bracket and for closeups, you can optionally get the LumiQuest Mini Softboxes handy!

    Lite Brite
Available little things to have around. I ordered 3 of these since I tend to do a lot of interviews and live ENG-type stuff--wanted to be talented to swap them out if one ran out of juice. The shoe mounts on these are plastic and one of them didn't tighten correctly and keeps falling off but the other two don't be bad much. Another irritating thing is that you can't turn them on while they are charging. They also claim to be color balanced to 4500'. Would have been more useful if they were 3.2K or 5.6K--but they only cost $30 so you still afford to buy some gels to slap on the front of them. You'll probably have a yen for to put some diffusion on the front anyway since they can be blindingly bright at close range. Light enough to gaff tape to a embankment which I swear I'm gonna do eventually on a shoot to earn some cool points with the rest of the troupe.

Sima Be disclosed, Slim Compact and Rechargeable Batteries
I have opted to get this because I use two of these mounted together on both sides of my camcorder to be turned on for a wider hockey of view. They are rechargeable and can use conventional batteries also. The larger model the Slx 20, I didn't have knowledge of if it would clear my camcorder flip out door. This model the Sl-SLX10 does on my DM accessories multicube Canon mini hot shoe adapter. I upon they would make a taller light bar so it would be 2 or 3 lights wide when mounted sideways on either side of the camcorder. It does faultlessly what I wanted it too at a Bargain Price compare to Expensive cheaply made Light Panels Micro Lights and others that are big and large and overpower your subjects eyes and can't be used with boom mics simultaneously
    Re: Cam expose
I already had one beacon but, occassionally I had need for light and the one would run out of power. I fixed this by purchasing a second light. When one runs out I pop on the aide-de-camp. It was exactly what I needed.
    Let-down
When I recieced the work it was with a 120 v transformer - that sucks, 'causeI want to be able to use it anywhere in the world.
    get the SL-20LX rather than
I have a Sima SL-20LX and wanted a twinkling one, so I ordered this. Whoops. This model has 9 LEDs, compared to about 50 for the 20LX, for about the same price.
    Superlative Value & Operation
This detail is well constructed and illuminates a space very well. If you can make or get a diffuser do so as it will reduce direct light shadows. The other secure thing about this item is that it can be mounted seperate of the camera or camcorder to give side , diffused or backlight. Freestyle life could be better but will do for most shoots.

    not bad
I got two of these to use with a macro rank, and they do what I want. They have plenty of light for that application. I haven't used them long enough to know how extended the batteries will last, though, and I don't know how well they work for shooing videos.
    Refined and bright
My only bad con about this consequence is, I wish it had cool white color LED instead of the warm white. I hate the feel affection for white, but it does its job. And I am extrememly happy with it. Very bright and for night time shooting it is emend. I wouldn't give it 15 feet for a clear shot, but in the dark it lights up what is needed for your appropriate cams and other small HD cams. I have 3 dif cams and it worked well with all.

    Definitely worthless
You camera will chronicle audio better WITHOUT this microphone. Luckily I bought it locally and will be returning it.
It's extraordinarily a piece of garbage...
Got it for my 5D MKII. Made several tests and in all cases, the issue WITHOUT the Sima microphone was better, confirming all other reviews. It's a true piece of garbage. This company should be red-faced selling this kind of thing! DO NOT BUY IT.
    Makes practical worse
For my m, I sometimes have to conduct interviews with people at their offices or in stores. Since this was going on my expense report, I didn't look up reviews and obviously bought the mic at Best Buy. I was using it for a Canon mini DV camcorder and I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer here who said it was unethical for this corporation (or any retailer) to be selling this product.

It makes the sound worse, simple as that. I got more static and a pit noise and everything improved once I took the mic off. So if you think your camcorder's mic isn't what you'd like it to be - go ahead and buy this, get used to the grim sound for a few weeks and then take it off. Your camcorder's sound will sound amazing!

Seriously, don't buy this. I'm assuming the friends stays in business because they're the only one that makes such a cheap mic and as long as they have their distribution agreements with companies like Outdo Buy/amazon/etc. They don't have to do spend any money on marketing or product development, just have it on the accessories shelves next to the camcorders and care for them fly off the shelves.
    Obedient value for money
I sanctuary't used the microphone in a real situation yet but did experiment with a few shots, so far it sounds good and I can listen to a distinct difference. For the price I paid I think it is worth it. Who can complain if the cost is less then $5.00 compaired to more than a hundered dollars for the Canon mic and residents who used it said there isn't a big difference.
    Worse than built-in microphone
I have an Elura 100 for shooting severely movies. Although the built-in microphone is pretty good, as far as such things go, it still picks up a little bit of motor rumble, and is only really good at close range. With that in mind, I thought that an external, directional, microphone would be valuable. On a whim, I purchased the Sima MZM1 at my local large electronics store, which, believe it or not, stocked it as its only exterior microphone on the shelves. I hadn't heard of Sima, but figured that even an inexpensive (actually, I paid more than the Amazon valuation), directional microphone would be better than the built-in microphone. Boy was I wrong.

I set the camera up in a quiet elbow-room with no wind noise and ran a sound check first with the built-in microphone, and then with the Sima in both normal and "zoom" technique. The built-in microphone sounded as good as ever, clear with a slight trace of motor cacophony. Then, as soon as I plugged in the Sima microphone, the noise level increased dramatically. In normal set-up, I not only picked up the motor whir substantially louder, I also picked up a substantial amount of buzz and other hissing/high noise. In zoom mode, the motor whir was gone, but that was possibly because it was drowned out by even louder hissing/telephone call noise.

At first I thought that perhaps it was the fact that the Elura's electronic wind screen is deactivated for superficial microphones, so I turned it off for the built-in microphone and repeated the test with the same results. At this point I began to have in mind that my mic-in jack was defective, so I eventually secured a real microphone to test with, and discovered that the camera was working justified fine, and that all the noise was being generated by the Sima MZM-1.

In short, I spent around $40 to buy a microphone that was far inferior to the camera's built-in microphone, and wasted hours bothersome to troubleshoot the problem. If you buy this microphone after reading all of the reviews, you have no one to blame but yourself for the misery this product will conduct to you.

As a final observation, the microphone's rubber mounting system does not seem to actually dampen any fracas, and in fact appears to increase the noise from movement since it allows the microphone to flap around a bit (not that you'd catch it over all of the other noise this microphone introduces).

    Delivers what it promises
Guard against Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2SGYGPV58OESW Very sturdy and apparently shedding.
The shoes are attached to the piece with small metallic screws, it is not glued.
One can attach it to a tripod because there is a oubliette at the bottom.
    Good product.
    Sima Video Combine
The Sima video group does exactly what I need it to do - hold my Sima lighting unit. I got for a great price and received up ahead of the projected delivery. Good job y'all.
    So and so
With veneration to the positive aspects, the main one is that the bracket has two hot shoes at its end at such an angle that it can comfortably hold two items, markedly a light and external mic. Also, it is quite adjustable in terms of distance it can be set from angle and angle. The commodity is also well built. It is made of plastic but very durable and hard plastic so it is very difficult to break. Despite all these attributes why does it only merit 3 stars instead of 4 or 5? Primarily because the tripod mounting stud is too small!! It scarcely fits, due to its diminutive size, into the tripod socket. Due to its small size, if you had it in the socket for a prolonged stretch of time and it was holding any item of more than the smallest of weights, it would probably damage the tripod socket. This is especially the case if your camera's socket was plastic as opposed to metal. How much would it have cost Sima to have used a slight larger stud? Another penny or two? What a shame to degrade such a product for that.
Capable value for the price - make adjustments for left-opening screens
I have a Canon FS200 and the LCD opens on the hand, so when I try to open the LCD screen, the bracket gets in the way. If I switch the bracket to the right, I have the problem of not being gifted to use the hand strap on the camera. It's a shame as it's easier to shoot with the zoom, record and photo buttons at your fingertips like they are when using the handstrap. My wanting solution is to leave the screw mount slightly loose, and move the bracket to the back of the camera when I neediness to open/close the LCD. If the bracket were about an inch longer the problem could be solved.

The cold shoe mounts are a undersized too close for my liking--if you use both a light and mic, it leaves the whole thing top heavy on one side so you will need to stabilize the piece using both hands or a tripod.

This is not a metal bracket--it's ABS plastic, so it's very sturdy yet lightweight with no on the button edges and won't get too hot or too cold. The washer on the screw mount is a leatherette pad so it protects the bottom of your camera from scratches.

The verified screw head can accept a screw itself, so you can attach it to a tripod or another bracket if you want to, which is incredibly dexterous.

While the product is not ideal for a camcorder with a left-opening screen, the necessary adjustments aren't too inopportune, it's a good price at under thirteen dollars, and it's better than nothing if you've got to use a light and microphone and your camera does not have a shoe mount.
    Waiting to see
I ordered this for a unlike digital camcorder that it didn't work with because the camera was not set up for nightshot. We has since purchased an item it will calling with and are waiting to see if it improves the nightshot capacity!

Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder with 5x ...

I strongly promote this camera if you are looking for an reasonable camera for household use.

My only contact with a camcorder is the $800.00 Panasonic VHS-c camcorder I purchased 10 years ago fitting before my first stripling was instinctive.

10 years later, I found that I did not use my creative camera too often. The old camera is big and unwieldy and about 5 to 6 times the weight and albatross of the Aiptek. The other prevail upon is, I don’t even have a VCR anymore. (I be acquainted with, I could collar the camera up to my TV)

The prevalent as a result of for me to get something new was for editing. VHS-c is a extensive and sluggish treat to put on the computer for editing and I wanted happier video importance.

I began looking at dear distinctness camcorders and the Aiptek Skirmish HD GVS 1080P Piercing Sense Camcorder was recommended to me because of commodities reviews. After reading the reviews on song, looking at videos posted on youtube, and the payment of the camcorder, I solid to buy it.

I let in I have not inured to the Aiptek Function HD GVS 1080P Dear Distinctness Camcorder very much but here is what I can advise you:

    1) It is low-cost…My first camcorder rate me $800.00 with garnishing. This one expense me around $400.00 with garnishes. (Camera, apparent stallion, supernumerary battery-operated, 16 Gig SD reveal all and the Sima classification. There was tax and some shipping as well.)

    2) The camera is humiliated, plain to use and very manageable.

    3) I bought a 16 Gig SD file card for it and for the two shakes of a lamb's tail I don’t meditate on I necessary more. The camera says I have 4 hours of at one's disposal video at the 1080p scenery.

    4) The camera likes a lot of put a match to. The more foolish the better. In rooms with well-deserved one lighter on…the video is very cryptic. I bit I had purchased the Sima SL-20LX Ultra Clever Video Diverting dismiss when I made my get. I scarcely discovered I didn’t. Due to the lighting issues I have seen in my own well-informed in, I am effective to buy the Sima Indistinct. Due a note, My VHS-c camcorder was awful viscera the take in when I did not use the built in sunlight.
