    HD camcorder
When I went out and experimented it on shoots, it did a veritably good job. But a camcorder with weak autofocus is a bug. Otherwise it is a good design, with a good assortment of features and completely priced.
    the upper-class camera i've tried
I tried a Sony, a Canon, and this Sanyo. The Sanyo is FAR AND Somewhere else the best camera of the three. It is simple to use and takes amazing video.
    charming still images
Sanyo VPC-FH1A Full HD Video and 8 MP Digital Photos (Black)

I bought this camera and it shoots cute videos. But im unable to take still images. When i press the photo button, it seems it focuses and if i remain burning it, the image in the LCD screen goes off and on. So i think that the photo is taken. but no images when i run the slideshow. In video vogue, i keep clicking the photo button but no images.

I returned the first one thinking something is faulty. Iam not able to take pics using the secondly one too. Is it something iam doing wrong. Can somebody shed some light.

    --------------------------
I figured out what was the issue. You need to flatten a bit harder after the camera focuses to take the photo.

Happy with the purchase and Amazon service
    ----------------------------
    I mate the camera.
This may strong like a commercial, but I love the camera. It has replaced my Sony DCR-DVD610, which is a few years old. It is extraordinarily small, just under the size of a soda can. The battery life is pretty amazing for my wishes. I recorded a high school football game over the weekend, and it made it through the entire game in full HD 30fps.
It can get 201 minutes of give utterance memos
    196 mins on 640x480
    174 mins on 720p
    156 mins on 1080p (30fps)

I like all the situations I use it in,

    Scarcely Sanyo delivers
For the valuation, this compact little Sanyo really delivered. Sure it's not the best at autofocus or metering tough spotlit subjects. (I don't know if higher-priced camcorders actually are much better at it--but suspect they are.) But all-embracing, the camera has a nice big lens. delivers excellent, sharp crisp images, and is unassuming and easy to operate. I bought it used, but it came looking brand new, with all the accessories and cords and manuals and facts still sealed. I believed I got a great bargain and am most happy with Amazon and the seller, Wharehouse Deals, Inc.

    skilled for only 1 month
when i bought this camera i liked it,over ok represent quality even in dark, small, hd, 10 mp camera i used and iwas thinking giving 5 big name for this camera. Then i stopped using it for a while. everything was fine until i wanna take couple more pics after 3 mos. It totally stopped working and I looked for bloke support phone # about 2 hrs finally i got it and after holding 10 minutes i talked to agent n she was theater she didnt wanna talk to me and said after 3 mos there is warranty only on the parts n i still have to pay labor which was more than camera expense.

So, If u r lucky on what u buy from sanyo and works fine sanyo would be ur brand. In my case i wont ever buy sanyo again.
    Top-hole for the price...
Zealous camcorder for the price, lots of fun and great moments with the family. As far as for picture taking, I'd give it a C+ even though its a 10mp. All in all, my minuscule experience with this is a very positive one, with a nice smooth transition from miniDV to Flash Card/HD. I Warmly recommend this camcorder for someone not wanting to pay a lot of money for a high quality portable camcorder and see this section very comparable to any camcorder in the price range of $200 to $500 dollar range, definitely a steal at $130 and a pleasant way to transition.
Not thrilled, but at this appraisal not unhappy
Off now the price has been discounted by sixty bucks so the price can't be beat for a hd, pocket camcorder with a 5x zoom.

The essence quality is OK, even indoors, but you have to hold the camera very very steady. The image stabilization does nothing, as far as I can indicate. It seems odd that you need a tripod to get steady shots on a camera this light, and so obviously designed for portability.

The camera seems unequivocally flimsy, especially the battery and flash card covers.

Focus is very slow, so anything that is in motion is going to be a little blurry until it stops moving, even if the camera itself is totally still.

Despite the more low quality, the camera is light weight, easy to use, easy to pocket and carry around, is debark enough to be used with the original gorillapod and has plenty of manual settings to help you get the most of it.

I can't recommend it, but it's very likely not a terrible purchase for the money.

Update: Just used the camera at the beach, so disembark was super. The picture quality was very good, color balance was good too. I used the snow & seashore scene select. But jitter is still pretty bad. The stabilizer is worthless. You have to hold this camera down-to-earth.

Update2: There is no "pause" feature when recording video. You can turn off the recording and then start another recording, which creates multiple files, but you can't lacuna in the middle of recording and then resume it. For all I know this is common with other pocket camcorders, but it seems odd.

Update3: I used the camcorder to accomplishment a school play. This is a challenge for just about any camcorder - recording while sitting back in a dark theater, zoomed in on a cheerily lit stage. The CG10 didn't do a phenomenal job, but it also wasn't too bad. Again, anything that moved was blurry. Wide angle resulted in very lofty contrast, where the theater lights whited out most of the detail. But zooming in, using a tripod, worked well. Features were remove and the color balance was tolerable. The 5x zoom makes a big difference. I can't imagine that the flip, with no zoom, would have recorded anything watchable. BTW the CG10 has a instructions focus option that lets you set it to infinity, essentially creating a fixed focus. That worked out well as I'm foolproof autofocus would have had trouble with the harsh lighting and high zoom.
    Awe-inspiring picture, slow focus.
For the readies nothing I have seen comes close. Video is awesome, but focus is slow. Still picture distinction is acceptable but not on par with my dedicated still cameras. Slow focus aside, the video is beautiful. Camera is natural to use. Well worth the money.
    The Scarcely Camcorder that could.
I needed a camcorder for training purposes. Privately, Review, Record again, etc. Didn't have the budget for a mid-price cam and looked at Flip & Kodak models but assertive I wanted more. Many members of the yahoo video group really like and recommend this and so after inspection around bought it here on Amazon. It's terrific. Portable, good sound and excellent pics/video. Chase the advice on other posts to disable some features. Bought a couple xtra batteries on ebay, a lite-bias tripod here on amazon, and I'm pleased. I'm also particular. BTW, before I'd invest $800-1200 in a prosumer camcorder, I'd intermission and watch the development of the DSLR's coming out with xcellent Video capabilities. The prices will fall off with scale.

    Lovesssssssss it!!!!!
I attraction this camcorder/camera. The HD video quality is outstanding, the pictures are really clean and bell-like. I have tried lots of the pocket cams and returned 3 of them but I must say, this one is a keeper! Superior quality against any of the Kodak, Twist or Sony. I recommend this camera for anyone on the go that want great quality video, I have pretty much retired my regualr camcorder since I got this one, merely drop it in my purse and go. I highly recommend this wonderful lil jewel of a cam.
    Indifference Improvement Over the CG-10
Between Dignified of '09 and June of '10, I came to depend on the CG-10 as my 2nd camera for stills and #1 cam for video. It's was with me all the in good time always and held up quite well. It will be viable 'til it frys...which may be quite a while because it's been on the shelf since I got the CG-20 for my birthday. My first job for the CG-20's 1080 state was the local fireworks show. I set the WB to "fireworks" and let it run. Here's what I learned.. Other than the improved resolution, there are a couple of other changes that are obedient and bad.
The good> It's a bit smaller, the SD card is easier to get to, some basic in camera video editing, saturation is well-advised b wealthier and the noise reduction seems only slightly milder for stills. There is a 16:9 11 megapixel mode for stills. It uses the same freestyle and USB for download.
The bad> You'll have to buy a mini/standard HDMI to play this on your TV. If, like me you bought the special mechanism (RGB) cord for the CG-10, you're S.O.L. Like wise if you don't have any HDMI stuff or a spare input yet.
My 2 video programs (Corel Video Studio X2 and Roxio 2010) will not use 60 FPS and X2 won't handle 1080. But even at 30 FPS the 1080 looks fine as long as you and your contingent on expose move slowly. Passing birds and trains seem to leave a trail. Search Flickr for the most examples of the CG-20
Anyway, as good and a little better as the CG 10...
    Just THE BEST!!!
This is byfar the beat camcorder I have ever purchased. The build quality is great. The thing that surprised me the most is that the pictures, when ready, look better than my 400 Sony Cybershot Cam. I bought this camcorder mainly because I wanted a smaller more little camcorder besides my $1000 Canon Vixia. I was stunned when I connected both camcorders to my 56 Inch Samsung LED TV and the Sanyo looked more brittle, and also worked better in dark conditions. If you dont like the "pistol grip" shape I would tell you to go with the Kodak ZI8. But, I personnaly think this one takes better videos as well as pictures. Entire, if your reading this review, and looking into purchasing a new camcorder, dont make the mistake so many populace do, and purchase other camcorders, like the much "overrated" flip line of camcorders. Purchase the CG20, or for that matter any Sanyo Goods. Sanyo is truely a pioneer in creating technologies like the Xacti that take amazing pictures aswell as staggering videos. But most of all they save you money. I don't know what I would do without my CG20, saying I love it is an understatment. Since purchasing this marvellous little camcorder I have since sold my Vixia because I have relised that this is all I need. Purchase this camcorder, I eschew you wont regret it. Whether your taking this on your tour of Italy or Filming your medaterainian cruise or talking placid videos or even filming your son hitting his first home run, Sanyo is simply the best out there.
A few thoughts on Sanyo CG20
I in the first place bought the Sanyo VPC CG10 after reading a number of sterling reviews on Amazon, notably by Rolla Gravett and Juan. The camera is splendid. I already owned a Flip MinoHD, but I was disappointed by its limitations--there are no settings to speak of you can play with, and of assuredly, it is not a still camera. My goal was to find a compact camera which would take both high definition video and take high standing still photos with a built in flash. The CG10 did all of that. When Sanyo released the CG20, the main improvement was flourishing from 30 fps 720p video to 60 fps 1080p video. Now that I have both cameras I am a little disillusioned with the 1080 video. As recommended by others, I am using a class 6 SDHC card. The videos I have infatuated in the highest HD (1080) are obviously much larger files, but they don't seem to play quite right with Quicktime. I am working on a very new iMac. When I act the 1080 videos in Quicktime there seems to be some jitter and unsteadiness. The exact clip recorded in 720p seems ameliorate, very stable, and just as clear to my eye. I also found that when I played the 1080 clip with VLC media Thespian, it played better than with Quicktime without any distortion. Also the viewing screen in the CG20 is a little bit smaller than the CG10. For email purposes, I use MPEG Streamclip to resize my videos. Typically if I take a 20-30 defective clip in 720p it is about 15-20 megabytes. I can resize that clip with Streamclip down to about 2-3 megabytes without running at a loss virtually any clarity, thus I can email it easily. The same clip in 1080p is 40-50 megabytes and perhaps too ample to resize for email. Again, to my eye I can't see much difference between 720 and 1080. This parallels my experience with HD televisions, where with the departure of BluRay DVDs, the picture on my Panasonic 50 inch plasma TV (720) is as friable as any picture I have seen with a 1080 TV. Overall, I think the Sanyo CG10 or CG20 are absolutely the best buy for the money, a great camera that you can and will take anywhere you go. You can get the CG10 for around $120 now, unbelievable value.
Countless dual camera for the price....
I have waited for months to get this camera. To my redress it is by far the best video cam under $200. With 1080I, 1080P, and 720P it is super. The best software to use with a self-effacing computer is Roxio Creator 2010. You can make awesome up to 40 min. AVCHD DVDs that will monkey tricks on newer BluRay players. I would recommend installing a $45 NVIDIA video prankster that will speed up rendering by a factor of at least 5X. The anti shake works well out to the end of the 5X optical range. It will take some training to hold the camera still for full zoom pictures. The stereo sound is great and wind babel suppression is good but not perfect. I have about 50 movies on Youtube that are super clear(badchuckie)! I normally cut the quality to 720P either with the camera or Roxio Creator to minimize upload time and at this allude to in time 720P is all that will play on YouTube without jerking. Still photos compare favorabily with my 12mp camera. Batteries, extra pony and SD cards are cheap. The operating buttons are great for fat fingers and very intuitive. It also has a HDMI yield for fast viewing of movies on your large screen TV. I play mine on a 50 inch and they are sharply with either 1080 or 720 modes. The SD card is a little difficult getting in and out so I use the supplied USB radio to transfer files to the computer. I would reccommend at least a 6 or faster SD card and purchase a couple of 1000mah batteries and stallion. The unit comes with a 700mah battery that will run the camera for at least an hour. I bought a red unit from RS for $179. For some as a result of the black and silver ones are more expensive so this is a good price.

    satisfied
i definitely want to love this product. however, i'm still working on the software for it. i need to upgrade. thinking about upgrading to the adobe opening sanyo recommends. also, the quality isn't great, but suppose its par for the $. any panning, zooming is a little fidgety. low level lighting is pretty poor too. But outside, with minimal movement. its a beautiful likeness. plus expandable media, digital files, good improvement over tapes.

How do I record Blu Ray discs from output of Sanyo Xacti 1000HD or 1010HD camcorders? In 1080i 60fps res?

Q: I was looking to buy a Cheerful Def camcorder, in particular either the Sanyo Xacti 1000HD or 1010HD models. But I've been reading that the software the comes with it only burns the video to measure DVD discs in non-high-definition formats. What's the have in mind of a HighDef camcorder if I can't author high-def blu ray discs with it?

What computer software out there (that doesn't outlay more than the camcorder itself costs) will let me take the 1080i 60fps video from the Sanyo camcoder and flame it into a blu way disc WITHOUT downconverting it into a lower resolution/format. Doing searches with Google and the like on this thesis, and it almost sounds like it's not possible, or would cost a fortune in software to do so?

Most residents just seem to view the highdef video straight from the camcorder to the TV. But that's crack-brained cause then I'd have to continously buy new SDHC memory cards to use as storage. I need to edit my video I take on the Sanyo in 1080i/60fps on my computer, and then record it on a blu ray disc without running at a loss that 1080i/60fps quality.

Do I need to buy extra software to do so? The software that comes with the Sanyo won't do this? If so what software do I poverty to buy and how much does it cost?

A: In support to your first question... the reason you get DVD software only is that high-def software is a beautiful new development. DVDs being established, the Sanyo folks provided a very root way to get your video into your permanent collection. I don't know their specific software, but I'll wager it's very entr-level... if you very far into video editing and DVD authoring, you'll perhaps hit the limits before long.

You're absolutely right about the need for some good of disc... flash cards really aren't intended for extensive-term storage. They'll probably last a good 10 years or more without developing errors, but that's a very precious way to store your video. I'm paying about $8-10 each for 25GB BD-Rs, but that's likely to let go to $5.00 or less by the end of the year.

As far as Blu-Ray authoring, yeah, you'll need another program, and at the end of the day a BD-R/RE drive for making full fledged Blu-Ray discs. Like DVD, Blu-Ray discs are always materials discs, but can carry specific formats understood by all players, or fitting unstructured stuff that only a PC would understand. You could drag your video files onto a BD for archival purposes and PC playback, but that's not effective to work in most stand-alone players (the PS3 can play those if they're in a supported layout, but you have to browse to the media, just as on the PC).

So the thing you want to do is "prime mover" a Blu-Ray video disc. There are actually two kinds. A severe movie without menus or any interactivity can be created using the BDAV aspect. The DVD style menu navigation, multiple movies, and all kinds of new-to-Blu-Ray features are only convenient on the BDMV format. You need a real authoring program for that.

There are several steps to the take care of. You need to finish editing your video first. You might then choose to cede to the Blu-Ray format of choice (MPEG-2, MPEG-4/AVC, or VC-1), though many of the Blu-Ray authoring tools will also do the rendition for you. Audio is probably going to be AC-3 (Dolby Digital) or PCM (WAV).

I have inured to both Nero Vision and Sony's DVD Architect for BD authoring. Nero currently has compatibility problems -- authored discs played elegant on the PC, but not on my PS3 (the PS3 is pretty much the gold standard for Blu-Ray compatibility these days). DVD Initiator worked fine, but it's only available as part of the Vegas Pro 8 package, which runs something like $500+ new, and it's indeed intended for folks new to video. Also, currently, DVD Architect only primitively simulates DVD authoring on Blu-Ray. That's useful -- you can make DVDs and Blu-Rays from the same job source. But full Blu-Ray authoring is far more capable (and complex), and currently fairly expensive (like over $10,000 for the state of the art stuff).

Another contemplation... virtually all Blu-Ray players support the AVCHD appearance, which is pretty much the same idea (not exactly, but close) as a Blu-Ray authored onto a well-regulated DVD. This is in theory to support playback of AVCHD discs from 8cm DVD-based camcorders, but you can also dream up your own from High Def sources, if you have the right software (currently, Nero claims to column this, while the Sony software will only create an actual BDMV formatted DVD, which is odd in small ways from AVCHD and will NOT automatically play on most Blu-Ray players).

There are affordable choices. One examine to decide for yourself... do you have video editing tools that employment (part of the Sanyo tools or something else). If you have the means to take in your MPEG-4 files from the Sanyo, edit them to your gratification, and render them out to AVC or MPEG-2 or whatever, you won't need a program that does editing and Blu-Ray authoring, reasonable the authoring part.

There's been a low-end version of Vegas, Sony's Vegas Talkie Studio 9 Platinum, which runs around $90 direct from Sony. This allows prodigal definition editing (though I'm not sure about the Sanyo formats... some of the momentary display-based MPEG-4 cameras use slightly odd formats that don't employment in other editors unless they supply the proper Direct Show/Video for Windows CODECs... bluntly, if it plays in Windows Media Player, you can probably select it in Vegas and most other tools) and creation of a Blu-Ray disc directly from the timeline. That means you get hardly a single movie per disc (technically, this is a BDAV disc, not a BDMV disc), no knotty authoring, no menus, no multiple videos per disc. But it's at least something, and you can download a open-handed trial.

I mentioned Nero... Nero Phantom is part of the Nero 6 suite, which runs something like $75 new (I bought it with upgrade pricing), and another $25 or so to enable High Def features. This does unreservedly a bit of stuff, all fairly basic other than the CD/DVD/BD burning tool, which is one of the superior. However, I found enough bugs in the other tools (their player doesn't play Blu-Ray discs suitably on my system, the BD authoring tool produces BDs that don't play on some players), that I'd refrain from it for now if Blu-Ray creation is you main goal.

Another option is Corel's VideoStudio 11.5 Bonus. I haven't used this version, though it's relatively cheap ($80) and I tolerant of an earlier version for video editing, years back, when it was owned by another business.. with fine results. Unlike Sony, VS can author AVCHD discs, which is very helpful until you buy a BD-R/RE drive... for about an hour's worth of video, a dual-stage DVD has plenty of storage for full quality video from a consumer camcorder (we're not filming at the wonderful-high bitrates possible on Blu-Ray... usually around 25Mb/s for HDV and more in the 15Mb/s distance, max, for MPEG-4 camcorders... so it's a waste to go higher on your BD). The Corel app also allows BDMV authoring with menus, and there's a immune from demo available.

So anyway, that should be a good starting point for you.
