An pretty acceptable entry-level camcorder
I bought this from newegg for $99 and $5 shipping. I have seen mixed review comments but decided to give it a try anyway, the price was too beneficial to pass on.

It turned out to be a fairly acceptable SD camcorder. Voice quality is actually totally good, video quality is not the best among its category but quite acceptable to me. Its video prominence is comparable to some early digital camcorders (digital 8/mini-DV) and actually slightly better than my Sony old Hi-8 camcorder (CCD TRV65) that set someone back my 8 times as much 12 years ago and weight 4 times as much. Low light performance is also acceptable but equitably limited.

Optical zoom is pretty good although you will want a tripod when it approaches the end of arrange. Sometimes camera has trouble hunting for focus near far end of zoom range.

Picture supremacy is pathetic, low-light performance is even worse. It is cellphone quality. Not a cellphone like iPhone, but those undo phone cellphone company gives you when you signed up for 2 years contract. You just can't get a dignity 2M picture with 680K CCD.

Overall the camcorder is quite user friendly. A simple thrust and shoot and share camcorder. I will use it to shoot family/kids video and share them with grandparents over internet so I would be inclined lower bitrate over higher video quality.

Pixel aspect ratio for widescreen video are not set suitably by this camcorder. As a result when you play them back in a computer the video will be squeezed horizontally. You can either set the aspect ratio manually in your media sportsman (16x9) or use software tool like Yamb to fix the pixel aspect ratio. I yearning Samsung can release a firmware update to address this issue.

Basic Camcorder!
This camcorder has splendid video and audio quality. The Smart Record feature is a God-send for amateur videographers! There are 2 drawbacks: 1) the videos take up a lot of disc place and 2) video playback drains my laptop's memory, which causes audio "hiccups". Fortunately, when you upload a video to YouTube, the audio "hiccups" are not there. Even-handed make sure to delete videos that you don't want to use and use a disc defragger (e.g., Auslogics) to unfragment your computer files after video editing. Best camcorder for the price. I'm sticking with this one!

Starter camera that's casual to use but not high definition
We took this camera on vacation twice and the superior feature was that it was inexpensive enough that I felt perfectly comfortable letting my 8-year old son take over it for shooting vacation videos of fair quality. However, the definition of the pictures were not crisp or clear enough that I would want to make this my go-to camera for acme quality videos of truly valuable recordings that I hope to keep for a lifetime.

So while the camera is tranquil to use and handle and small enough to make it a good travel camera, the trade off for price is the grandeur of the video.

Definitely a good starter camera or travel camera that the entire kinsfolk can use.

An justly acceptable entry-level camcorder

It turned out to be a fairly welcome SD camcorder. Voice quality is actually quite good, video quality is not the overwhelm among its category but quite acceptable to me. Its video quality is comparable to some early digital camcorders (digital 8/mini-DV) and truly slightly better than my Sony old Hi-8 camcorder (CCD TRV65) that cost my 8 times as much 12 years ago and avoirdupois 4 times as much. Low light performance is also acceptable but fairly limited.

Optical zoom is pulchritudinous good although you will want a tripod when it approaches the end of range. Sometimes camera has trouble hunting for focal point near far end of zoom range.

Picture quality is pathetic, low-light performance is even worse. It is cellphone calibre. Not a cellphone like iPhone, but those free phone cellphone company gives you when you signed up for 2 years shrink. You just can't get a quality 2M picture with 680K CCD.

Overall the camcorder is quite user warm. A simple point and shoot and share camcorder. I will use it to shoot family/kids video and cut them with grandparents over internet so I would prefer lower bitrate over higher video quality.

Pixel viewpoint ratio for widescreen video are not set properly by this camcorder. As a result when you play them back in a computer the video will be squeezed horizontally. You can either set the interpretation ratio manually in your media player (16x9) or use software tool like Yamb to fix the pixel point of view ratio. I hope Samsung can release a firmware update to address this issue.

I Sweetheart this Little Camcorder
At first I intention what Samsung calls their Active Angle Lens was little more than a gimmick. I was wrong. Holding the camera in your bracelets is very natural and I find I can hold it for long periods of time without my hand getting tired. That's a elephantine plus for me. The fold out LCD screen is easy to see, even outdoors.

Samsung's Smart Auto has eight different modes, so that you get the master possible results and it's easy as pie to switch between them. I love the time lapse recording chips. It's great for speeding up a sunset or sunrise.

Battery charging can be done via a USB cable to your computer, just like an iPod, nice-looking cool. You can get six hours and twenty minutes of video on a 16 GB SD, so you'll need a couple batteries if you longing to fill the card when you're away from a computer or an outlet, as you only get two and a half hours (what I got with my camera) on a charge. I'd've liked longer, but you can't have everything.

The software is rather darned easy to use. You can go straight from Camera to Facebook if you so desire. All in all I really like this rarely camera, it's small enough to fit in my bag with all the other essentials I carry around all day long and it's easy to hold and easy to use.

Grainy video
Its ok, if you scarceness to record old tv style (think 1980s over the air TV). But if you want anything HD, this camera does not record (nor does it announce it either). It is great for a kid to play around with. But it is no good for people who want to just record things and notion them on a computer (or tv, or burn to dvd) the video quality (on highest setting) is still lower then over the air tv programme, complete with necessary "snow" effect.

Samsung SMX-C20 Ultra Condensed camcorder
This artifice has proven VERY convenient to carry - in my pocket, in my car, almost anywhere I go.
Still photos are quite good - comparable to or greater than most cell-phone snapshots.
While the video quality is marginally acceptable, it does NOT go together the quality of high definition video footage taken with my SONY camcorder - which rate about ten times more than the Samsung.
However, because the Samsun UltraCompact is so convenient to carry with me, I frequently find myself using it because my professional characteristic equipment is just to bulky to carry with me at all times.

Wonderful First Timer
This is an save camcorder for the first time user or intermediate user. It performs very well right out of the box. No real dearth to read and learn about all of the various functions before using. You can take good video immediately on spontaneous, while taking your time learning how to use the various manual settings. A big plus for anyone that just wants okay quality videos without first becoming a camera professional. Samsung put a big winner in a small package with this one. I really would give it four and partially stars because I wish the view screen was a little bit more flexible, but, even had knowing this before I bought, I would still have made the secure. Kudos to Samsung for this one.

  Horrific camera overall but mic perfomance is subpar
  Excelent entrance level camcorder. The Time Lapse feature is cool. Can change video undertaking to save space (these two features where the main reason I choose this model). The free software works well for amateurs and semi-pro (bigger than I expected). Optical zoom is excelent and digital zoom is not bad. Easy to use and intuitive. In truthfully, I started using the camera without reading the manual.
  Cons:
  1) The mic catchs a lot of noise or unwanted sounds, for model, the movement of my hand in the strap, the movement of my fingers over the camera surface, the pressing of the photo or zoom buttons, the lens zooming, my pant and people talking behind me.
  2) Photo quality is low compared with my cheap casio EXILIM.
  3) No shortcuts, almost everything have to be done in the menus. For model, the time-lapse mode and artistic effects require several clicks in the touch-sieve.
  4) Smart-Auto sometimes fails to identify correctly the lighting conditions or have a lag of several seconds, specially if you you change of enviroment while recording. Moreover, in time-lapse mode, the smart feature is impotent because it stay fixed once you start the recording. For example, to record a transition from night to day, I started a recording at shades of night and the next morning the indicator was still in 'Night Mode'.
  5) Cannot change FPS. It's fixed in 60.
  6) The battery only charges while the camera is off. Perhaps this is not failure but a feature to avoid damage of the battery.
  
  It is recommended a high capacity and hilarious speed memory card. In my case, I use an class 10 16GB card and I carry an unexpectedly 8 GB card just in case. In the future, I will have a combination of 32-16 GB because HD videos takes a lot of span.
  
  By the way, the camera splits the videos in 2GB files but you can join then in the computer using the included software (assuming your chronologize system is NTFS). Beware, after I updated the software it started to show an error when transfering files to the computer. Not a big handle because I can copy them manually but I suggest not to update unless you create a system restore point.

  ~ Lesser, compact, and light. Almost too small. Large hands would find it awkward to hold if it weren't so lightweight. Handle layout (record/zoom/photo) is very well placed and easy to use.
  
  ~ Data port covers. All ports have hinged imitation doors instead of a rubber boot/cap. In my experience rubber parts tend to drag out or get lost so I prefer the plastic door.
  
  ~ Built in manual lens cover. A plain switch opens the lens cover and you never have to worry about losing it. I prefer manual over impulsive as it allows me to leave the lens cover closed while I am viewing videos, transferring files, or charging the mobile via USB.
  
  ~ Time Lapse. I have only played around with this but it looks intriguing. It's not an option that swayed my decision to buy this camcorder, but it's dulcet cool nonetheless.
  
  ~ Reversible LCD screen. Like most screens this one folds out and has the ability to swap so the person being filmed can view the screen. This one can also be folded back into the camcorder in that position so the screen is still apparent with the screen closed against the camcorder. This allows you to record without having the camera in such a vulnerable clear position. It's a nice touch that shows they're paying attention to small details.
  
  ~ Visual image stabilization. The OIS performs extremely well at regular zoom. Performance drops as you zoom of without a doubt, but is still well above anything else in the budget category.
  
  ~ Video quality. This records in 3 modes: standard definition, 720p intoxication definition, and 1080i high definition. Since data storage is cheap I set the camera to 1080i and SuperFine and sinistral it there. After filming I plugged it into my 50" projection TV. I was pleasantly surprised to find the interior low light execution (the bane of almost all camcorders) was good. However the interior well lit and outside daylight videos were amazing.
  
  ~ There is no harddrive. You cannot platter confidentially without a SD or SDHC card. If you're like me you have several laying around so it's no problem. The lack of harddrive means the constituent is lighter, uses less battery power, has fewer things to go wrong, and more importantly is cheaper.
  
  CON's
  ~ There is no harddrive. You cannot information without a SD or SDHC card. Furthermore, not just any card will do. Class 10 is the manufacture's suggested speediness. If you don't have one laying around prepare to drop another $50 or so.
  
  ~ Not a lot of manual image control. If you are planning on mise en scene it on "auto" and recording your family reunion or kid's games you won't ever need better control. However more participation users who are creating art will be disappointed with the lack of control. Honestly though, those who require more control than this camcorder offers Non-Standard real shouldn't be looking at budget camcorders.
  
  ~ Still images are not great. This camcorder allows you take still pictures while recording video but the resulting still images are nothing to disregard home about. It's a nice feature, but anyone who has a digital camera or high end phone can get at least the same results or bigger. Also the software easily lets you extract still images from your videos, so there's really no point in this role. I'd rather they remove this feature altogether and shave some more $ off the already bargain price.
  
  ~ The zoom control lever could use some upgrading. While it is variable and allows for fast or slow zooming, it is not easy to control smoothly. The shift zoom control (rocker switch on the LCD door) is a fixed speed and is so slow that I can't predict ever using it.
  
  ~ The LCD screen is bright, but like all exposed screens in direct sunlight, it can become out of the question to see. While I'm glad to see they left a viewfinder out to save money, they need to go ahead and include a slight detachable hood for the screen. It's a minor issue, but one that the entire industry seems reluctant to permit and correct.
  
  ~ The AV, HDMI, and USB ports are located so that you cannot close the LCD screen while any of those cables are plugged in. It's no a big act for the AV & HDMI since you're watching it when those are plugged in so the screen would need to be open anyway. However if you are just using the USB refuge to recharge the camcorder you are forced to leave the screen in the vulnerable open position for hours.
  
  ~ The mobile can only be charged while it is on the camcorder. There is no way to recharge a battery while recording with another one. This wouldn't matter if there were a battery parcel adapter that allowed you to use AA or AAA batteries, but Samsung does not offer one. If you want to record more than 2 consecutive hours you have 2 options; obstruct this into a wall or have an extra battery already charged. Going on a weekend getaway with no electricity? You had superior buy and pre-charge a battery for every 2 hours of recording time you want. At about $50 per spare freestyle it can get expensive quick. This is a severe oversight and the only reason this does not get a 5 star review from me.
  
  Finale:
  It appears with this camcorder Samsung tried to carve out the "budget HD" niche. By shaving features here and there they managed to manufacture a camcorder that has incredible bang for the buck. The basics that they settled on are anything but basic at the price quiddity they are offering. This camcorder gives you the ability to record in 1080i HD, optical image stabilization, 20x visual zoom, and a 2 hour battery for a best in class price.
  
  Not only does this package execute exceptionally well as a camcorder for the entry level HD market, I can't help but think it helps put the strike in the coffin of standard definition camcorders. HD technology made SD obsolete, but cheap prices kept SD camcorders associated. The comparable low cost and untouchable performance of this Samsung HD camcorder finally shoves SD camcorders over the edge into the necropolis of electronics past.

  Astounding with a couple caveats
  I got this camera because I picked it up in a aggregate and was amazed at how wide angle the image is for the cheapest one in the store. Typically in the past I've had to use off the target angle lenses to get anything close to a reasonable viewing area when shooting inside. I assertive amateur movies so it's important to be able to get a wide shot, and also inside conditions are often darned cramped already. This camera's viewing angle is equivalent to my old 3 chip DV with a .5 lens devoted to.
  
  Also, I bought two of these because shooting movies it's extremely useful to be able to do two angles at once, or wide and closeup at the same every now for editing continuity.
  
  One of the best things is just how darn small it is. Doing French history Maquis movie making with a full size camera can be difficult in a public place because it's so obvious, but this camera is only bigger than your palm. ABout the size of a coke can.
  
  Caveats-
  1) Yes the image is rather noisy in low light. Reversed, I always use extra bright lights.
  2) The video file format is some odd codec that's not supported on my reviser (Adobe Premiere). This is minor though because there is a free converter that I batch convert on my other computer to the Adobe recommended arrangement.
  3) The auto magic setting is iffy ... best to set manually most of what you want.
  
  Update: This camera is an unthinkable value for indie movie makers. I bought a second so I could have two angles at once and might even buy a third. Recording the same function from multiple angles is very helpful during editing.
  
  I have a movie short I made with this where you can see the quality. Note that in most shots, there is brainy additional lighting. You need a lot of light for this camera.   Mine got delivered yesterday, and there is no height pitched noise that some of you are complaining about. It's a great video camera, small and light and I would exhort it to friends/family. However when I record Time Lapse I can't find where it saves to? Can anyone help me.

  camcorder that fits of laughter the purpose
  I did a lot of scrutiny before getting this camcorder, comparing with Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Sanyo and JVC products in the exchange. There is no other camcorder that provides the same video capabilities in the price range, other camcorders with same level of video eminence and optical image stabilization would cost at least $200-$300 more.
  Pros.
  Excellent video importance, good color reproduction, ease of use, small size, Optical stabilization works very well
  
  Cons.
  You do not have a best level of control over settings.
  Some issues with focusing on a subject against a busy background
  A fall note on low light: looking at all the consumer level camcorders in the market, there is hardly a camera that will behave exceptionally well in low light, you either need to increase the light or avoid taking videos.
  I inured to this for some indoor videos in average light and some concert videos which came out fairly well, so entire I am satisfied.
  
  My need for this camcorder was to record family events and I am quite satisfied with what its delivered. for more broadminded needs this may not be the camcorder.
  Best results I got was with 720p and 60 fps

Can anybody guide me regarding Samsung camcorders?

Q: Well I heard they are giving 3 years assurance for Samsung camcorders which is probably for first time in India & International warranty for 1 year. They have diverse models which is the best one to buy and any scheme in the offing due to festive occasion. I dont want to end up paying a high price, I scruffy if dealer makes Rs 500 profit it is okay but not 3000 gain which is almost 20% of the product cost.

Samsung might give you warranty and all the other stuff, but I undeniably have doubts about the quality of output that the samsung camera will give. Whats the quality of a warranty if you are not satisfied with the results?

My suggestion is you go for a Sony or canon camera. They are very enthusiastic and the output too is very rich. Go for a camera with 3 megapixel sensor. This will give you productive videos and ur photos will too look decent when printed.

Perplexing-disk or DVD cameras are very practical and cut costs in long run. Also you will be saved of needing to catechumen the tapes to cd/dvd.

A 3 ccd camera will produce vibrant colours. Different from normal cameras 3 ccd cameras have 3 sensors for Red Green and Dirty. SO the colours will be much richer and distinct.

There are many other features like unendingly shot, image stabilisation and so on. Just consult the persons in the workshop and they will explain u.

A: If you are even meditative about any editing, you will stay REALLY far away from DVD based camcorders. The VOB or VRO files are flattened too much to provide decent video quality when the files are decompressed and ripped from the DVD. Compressnig a LOT as the last keep one's wits about one is almost OK - but certainly not the first step of the video capture process - very bad recommendation.

Hard drive and certain higher-end flash retention camcorders are OK, I guess - but be aware that their MPEG2 (standard definition) and AVCHD files are very immensely compressed, so a relatively current computer with a fast CPU is required for crunching, decoding and processing.

MiniDV strip camcorders continue to provide the best available video je sais quoi because DV and HDV compress the least.

Compressed video data = discarded facts = reduced video quality. Additionally, when you do not reuse the tapes, they are your archive. With indigent drive or flash memory camcorders, you have an extra step of compensating your archive files to some other storage media... If you don't, then cancel the files from the hard drive or flash memory because you have transferred the files to you computer, then put an end to your editing... then delete the files from the computer, then those fles are gone forever. The smooth project will likely be in a very compressed DVD to be played back on a regular DVD actor...

With miniDV tape, you can also export the finished project back to the camcorder - and in the piercing definition environment, you can then use the camcorder as the playback device and scrutinize your project in high def. If it is just standard definition, this is a usefulness long-term archive solution because digital record has a good shelf life.

These are just a few reasons why professionals pick up to use miniDV tape... if there was a better solution accessible, they'd be using it.

A: It's dependable that Apple doesn't list any Samsung camcorders as compatible with iMovie. Befrore you over tossing your Samsung and buying another brand, let's consider what iMovie requirements. The only way to import data from a camcorder to iMovie is by Firewire (IEEE 1394) link. Does your Samsung have Firewire connector? If not, you can copy the movie figures to your MacBook hard drive and then open the movie send in in iMovie. Here is what Apple says about that:
