Satisfied guy
I bought the TM700 a month ago because of its adeptness to shoot 1080p60 video. I have been very happy with the results. The video quality is excellent, and doing undecorated trim and splice edits of the 25Mbs H.264 files have been no problem on my Gateway SX2800-01 (Heart 2 Quad processor Q8200). I have owned several camcorders in the past, both SD and HD, and this produces the highest quality video I've ever vaccination. 60 progressive frames per second produces very smooth motion, which I believe makes handheld footage very simple on the eyes. When I use this unit with a highly fluid tripod head the results are astounding.
The low-headlamp performance is quite good, but I've seen footage from more expensive cameras that can out-do the TM700 in that note.
The auto white balance sometimes acts contrary to my wishes -- sometimes there's latency in adjusting the creamy balance during a rapid change in lighting conditions (say, walking indoors from outdoors). The item does eventually settle down to a good white-balance.
The fan noise issues I understand about here concerned me prior to my purchase. However, at room temperature and a foot away from my ear, the fan on the TM700 I received does not go any sound I can discern. (I'm in my mid-forties and the frequency response in both my ears drops sharply at 14 khz). When I supplement the sound recorded in a quiet room at room temperature I do not hear the fan. I recorded outdoors on a 94 slowly F day and I think I hear the fan briefly on a short segment from that session. I would not initiate warranty work based on my fan experience so far.
As the title of this review states, I am a satisfied customer.

"Low Light-headed is Great"
I have owned many HD camcorders. As with computers/electronics most get excel with technology changes or "time" I would say that whatever the reason behind this technology it is outstanding. FYI: for those who complain about fan noise I have yet to get wind of anything other than whats intended. Dont doubt yourself this is a great camcorder I cant wait until the 3-d version arrives in october 2010.

Wasted Be that as it may
The low brighten is bad, battery does not last long enough, and the 1080p is not as sharp as a traditional 1080i from Canon, Sony or sometime TM300 model. Do not lose your time buying this camcorder and invest in better accoutrements...

Prodigious Camcorder
The Panasonic HDC-TM700 is a illustrious camcorder. It easily fits in my hand and is very convenient to use. It records to AVCHD format or 1080/60p (European 1080/50p). Fan charivari is really not a problem. The zoom capability is incredible. I also like the fact that I can record at once to an SDHC memory card. The HDC-TM700 comes with the AE2.1 software package. It's not very weak to use, but it does the basics. It will convert the AVCHD format to MPEG2, in either XP (10Mbps) or SP (5Mbps) formats which can be burned to a DVD or saved on your incomprehensible drive. The AE2.1 also has basic editing capability, so portions of a scene can be deleted.

Hairy Vid Cam, Nice Price
Panasonic has groaning a lot of useful features into this lightweight package. The controls are pretty intuitive but read the handbook first to make use of some features that are not so apparent.
Quality of the videos is very good, the zoom is ridiculous (!) and stills infatuated out of video action scenes are also very good. I ended up using this camera for video and around shots on my recent vacation and was very pleased with the results.
For well under $500 this Hi Def video camera is difficult to beat

Do the job
The camera is petite and light and the quality under normal light is great. On darker places is below average. It connects later on with a Mac or with a PC. The software it brings is very basic. The picture setting is average.

Egregious camcorder!!
I've had this for a week and I'm very impressed. The video property is outstanding. The pictures from the camera are good, but not as good as my everyday camera. I bought a 16 GB reminiscence card and it can hold about two hours of video. The software is acceptable, and it is very easy to download onto my computer. The freestyle life is about two hours, which is fine for me. This camera is very easy to use. I bought this for about $400 on Amazon and I invent I got a great deal. My only complaint is that it did not include a mini-HDMI cable. It includes a gear cable, which shows fine HD, but HDMI is so much easier to use. So I bought a mini-HDMI cale on Amazon for 99 cents(bonus shipping) and it works great. Overall, I am very happy with this camera.

All-around camera
I've had this camera for a duo of months now, and I am pleasantly surprised by it. I've never owned an HD camera, and this is my first new camera purchase in about 15 years or so. I've been using my phone camera for most pictures or borrowing my ball or daughter's digital still camera for the occasional need. This camera is many times better than my Droid phone camera predominantly because of the versatility. That is, the phone camera isn't great for video, or zoom and slow motion playback or low delicate situations. I scrubbed Amazon for quite a while before purchasing, reading all the reviews I could find on other cameras looking in this evaluation range down to about 1/2 the price of this camera. Although this one didn't have many reviews, and wasn't cheap, it was well-liked by those who purchased it, and now I understand why. It has a bunch of advanced features which I haven't used but I will detail the ones I have used.
The camera hysteria in my pocket reasonably comfortably, it's slightly larger than my wallet. It's a touch wider than my script when I hold it but comfortably fits in the palm of my hand. The controls are easy to use once you get used to them. There are 3 modes, playback, video and still. The still pictures are truly impressive. I sold a car on eBay and the pictures were huge and very crisp on my computer. They were amongst the largest pictures on eBay after I posted them, larger than most of the car dealers selling anyway. I find credible it's 4.3 megapixel, but not all megapixels are created the same. I think this 4.3 quality is better than a 4 megapixel camera phone.
The video property is exceptional. Oddly, on playback using my TV this camera seems to have better video quality than most of the HD programming I peer at on Dish Network. I'm not sure how that can be possible, but it is better. I can see every hair on my daughter's head and every jackknife of grass when I watch a playback. During video recording, there is a box that appears around faces, apparently it's recognizing and focusing on those faces.
I've second-hand this camera in several challenging situations and found it to be very good. I've used it low light for example, and it has a built-in dizzy that comes on automatically. We were at a restaurant recently which was dark, and I recorded video for a few seconds and the metaphor was somewhat dark, but the light automatically came on for both the video mode and still picture technique (flashed). The people whom you are recording might find the light annoying (in video mode as it stays on), but as the cameraman the playback picture looks great - you can turn off the light manually, easily.
The zoom is pretty mythical. I was recently at Brewer's baseball game, from the 1st base line I was able to zoom in on the fore fielder to fill the frame, he was about 500-600 ft away from where I was sitting. Zooming out, I turned the camera back on myself and my son for a minute wide angle shot at arms length. During playback on my TV, I could even see the thin stripes on the center fielder's shirt. The stabilization (strong-shake) mode (OIS) allowed me to see the players on playback with no noticeable shaking or movement on my part. With the OIS turned off, I could not pat the camera steady enough for the long range zoom shots. You don't need a tripod to unflinching the camera but I've used a tripod and it works well with this camera.
The battery life is pretty A-OK about 3 hours of use or so playback and at least an hour or more in record mode reduce. I'm thinking about getting the larger freestyle as although it might heavier, it would be nice to have the extra battery life and a spare battery.
I also recorded my golf toing using the high-speed record mode. Although I couldn't get the super-slow step playback that you see on TV golf, but I was able to stop the club head fairly well for my purposes anyway. I could see my driver barb was bending quite a bit which was a surprise. I was also able to see the club shaft angle fairly well during playback. The wheel for playback in slow motion are a little clumsy but not too bad once you get used to it (press the pause knob, then hold down the FF or Rewind buttons).
I plan to use the camera for recording my daughter's lacrosse games this first year. I expect from what I've seen that it will work well for that purpose as well.
The biggest complaint that I have is that still pictures have a pretty pickle with red-eye when using the flash. Even when the person isn't looking directly at the camera, the center of the eyes are red. It's an irritating problem that I can't seem to fix. Other than that I've been pretty happy with the camera's usability and quality.
Accessories:
The camera comes with a exhaustive user-manual, a charger, 2 connector cables, and a CD disk containing software for IBM-of one mind computers. However, just plugging it into my Mac computer worked fine with without any additional software.
The two cables included: a USB rope for connecting to your computer, and cable to attach to your TV for playback. The cable for playback is one of those 6-connector types (red, grassy blue, video as well as yellow (video), and red/white audio). Unfortunately, it's only about 5' large. Although the video quality was quite good with the included cable, I went for the additional HDMI mini-mooring as I wanted to see the quality difference - which frankly is hard for me to tell the difference, but the accessory chain below is much longer (nearly 10' instead of the 5' cable that comes with the camera) therefore I persuade it.
I purchased a cable (Panasonic Mini HDMI Cable, 9.8 Ft) and a memory card (SanDisk Ultra 32GB SDHC Take action (SDSDRH-032G-A11) - both of which I recommend. The memory card was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but works unequivocally well. There may be be cheaper memory cards available that work as well, not sure.
cable:

memory card:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00194101O/ref=oss_product)
I would acceptable purchasing a case, which I've yet to do, but will add that to the review once I find a good one.

Subtle little budget camcorder
I purchased panasonic HDC - TM55 last week only just before going on a trip to charleston and smoky mountains. This camcorder has so many features packed in a minuscule attractive body.
The main attractions
=====================
1) 25x optical zoom - this was very useful while taking photos as well as during video grab. There are not too many cameras which provide 25x useful optical zoomin such a small body. Photography and video catch at 25 x optical ( 35x intelligent zoom ) is a real big bonus. I found this to be very useful primarily while on the boat in the sea and was able to capture snaps of seagulls very well.
2) Better shake reduction monism. Camera adjusts to most of the shakes. It even displays a message camera panning too fast.
3) Xenon dart and LED video light - Xenon flash is pretty useful for night photography. Video harangue doubles up as an AF lamp during photography as well as the light for night video capture. Light is passable but it seems to be a bit weaker than the single LED flash of my blackberry bold. For a price range of around 500$ this is a slight feature to have. Another good thing is video light turns on automatically if the surroundings are unlighted. But videos whll have a bluish white tinge. Its better to be used as a flashlight if freestyle has enough juice left in it :).
3) Responsive touch screen - pretty good touch blind. Not any iphone like but still very good.
4) Well laid out menu - Lots of options in the menu. aptitude to play video alone, photo alone, both together ( thats a nice feature I think ).
5) Nice 2.7 LCD guard - > good bright sunlight visibilty. Rotating screen for self characterization or video capture. Screen buttons provide nice image/video tweaking opoortunities.
6) Ingenious Zoom in/out.
7) Fits perfectly in hand. The holding strap is also good. Battery provides agreeably support.
8) Support for high capacity memory cards. Cards will make camcorders even lighter. My sony vaio laptop has an SD New Year card reader. So its very easy to plug the card in and see all videos/photos.
9)Relatively wide point lens when compared to sub 500$ camcorders.
10) Nice bundled software for editing 1080i videos.
Cons
=====
1) power reversal, memory card slot and AV/HDMI ports can be accessed only if LCD screen is open. Unavoidable the camera will power on opening the LCD ( but not first time after immediate purchase ). To output to the TV, LCD would have to be left open.
2) Camera's automatic white balance seems to be a bit insufficient. Most of the time I had to manually set the virtuous balance for a more natural appeal for the photos/videos.
3) Its good that there is a manual mode. But relying on speak screen to change the values is a bit dificult. Had there been some ring around the lens to adjust, it would have been good.
4) divergent from panasonic Lumix ZS7 which gives an excellent portable charger, this camcorder requires battery to traces seated on the camcorder for charging to take place. Its Ok but a separate charger would have added to the excellent portability.
The above mentioned cons are not actually deal breakers when we consider the fact that this product costs around 500$ with a bag full of usable definitive features which any family/person might be looking for. Compact body, ease of operation, excellent dignity of videos/photos ( if we can manually adjust white balance ) is good enough to look over the negatives. All in all this is a tickety-boo product for a great price.

Very Impressed
I righteous purchased this Camera for an upcoming trip to Europe..
I did some testing and found the camera to work crucial and have a very clear picture. The night capability of this camera is superb given the price gamut. infact i was pleasantly surprised by the cameras ability for a such a good price.
The MTS video dimensions doesn't play so well with VLC playerin raw form, but a decent converter can be found. (using the supplied software, or video ouput on the camcorder gives absolute clarity. I only suggest that when doing any converting that you use the highest settings. anything but the highest distorts the video prominence quickly. on the average i was able to convert a 50mb video to 13mb using Mp4 format (ipod/ipad).
If your looking for a satisfyingly little camcorder that is easy to use, works well for stills and video, does really well in low be uncovered situations, this is it...

Weighty Little HD Camcorder
For and entrance level machine I was very pleased at how well it works. Zoom pulls in objects and records them positively, playback is easy and I like that you can play one clip or run all the different clips together. When plugging into my HD TV the pictues and video penetrate alive. I esp. like that it is very small as I can carry it in a pocket on my cargo pants and it can then go anywhere with me. Fits advantageous in the palm of your hand.
Like all machines I've used you still get wind noise no matter how well they say it can be masked.

Most adroitly versatile and budget HD camcorder
find this camcorder after lot of experimentation and very pleased with the performance after using it for 2 to 3months.
The main reason for selecting this cam is 1. Simile stabilization, 2. Very Good video quality and 3. 35X zoom.
It is hard to find a HD cam with all above three in less than $500. In my search the only other cam I designed
is Sony-cx350 with a better video performance, but it is $200 to $300 more and 10X zoom. So for me this is more
familiar and costs less.
Low light performance is very good and acceptable. There is some noise.
The video quality in best light is excellent. The video is sharp and crystal clear on 50" Sony lcd.
Wonderful 35X zoom. The complete zoom range is usable.
well functioning Optical image stabilization - captures very steady video even while walking.
Intelligent Auto Mode.
Many useful features like prerecording - records video from 3 seconds before you start.
My most important disappoints are:
1. The software is not usable for me
2. No 24p film mode
Low end laptops with less power can not play videos out of camera. AVCHD requirements lot of power for transcending.
Conversion takes lot of time. so I preferred simple edits. Corel video studio pro X2 (not X3) and nero did very
well for naked editing. I am still exploring the possibilities here. I used Nero to cut unwanted portions and
uploaded the video to youtube. I downloaded the 720p mp4 for my low end
laptop and nimble version from [...] to avoid conversion.

Simple to use; good quality still images
As a non-tech breed, I appreciate the ease of use of the functions on this camera. Much more intuitive than other models we've had. Connecting to the PC to upload photos was clean and the image quality was surprisingly good. I use it for casual family videoing and am quite beneficial with the clarity and the storage capacity.

A Serious Set-back
I ordered the SDR-HR85P video camera ( dejected ) on August 3rd and received it on August 8th. We left for an extended vacation in the Sierras for two weeks.
I forced the manual before going site seeing and thought I would be fine. One reason I purchased the camera was it was postulate to have the capability of capturing stills on the internal hard drive or a memory card. I did the video with no trouble but the camera would not store the stills on the memory card or the hard drive. Once I turned the camera off and restarted to download the still pictures to my computer the stills were gone. This happened twice and I called Panasonic. I was told the open warranty that I paid extra for to have the camera repaired locally could not be used until the manufacturer's assurance had expired. I contacted CameraKings, the company that sold me the camera, by e-mail on August 29th and they were having problems with their Web milieu so I should call. I called Tuesday since they were not available on Sunday. When I did get a person I was told that time period for returns to their supplier was 7 era and 21 days for unopened packages. They also had a 15% restocking fee. The only thing I can do with this brand new camera is pay to have it shipped back to the industrialist to see if they can repair it. Not only am I unhappy with the camera losing 2 days worth of stills but it did poorly in low discover and landscapes of the mountains we went to view. I'm very unhappy with CameraKings return policy and would underwrite not using this supplier.

impartial camera for a fair price
Like the other reviews say, it does take frizzy video in low light. But for being so cheap and convienient, it's a good camera. I took various video when my baby was born and the battery still showed a full charge. Don't expect movie quality shots, but for intelligent, worry-less, don't stress out if you drop it home video-making, this camera is what your looking for.
The 78x zoom is stunning as well. It has the anti-shake feature that really works. I can't believe how far this thing zooms in and takes leap shots. And for those who don't know, having the internal hard drive is awesome. Don't mess with the disc or outside memory cameras.
If you want high-definition, "blu-ray" shots, spend the extra spondulicks for the true HD cameras, but for me this camera is perfect.

Facts one for fun video recording on the fly
I bought this specifically for my sons to compact disc for YouTube. They love it! (search for Cummins Air to find my son John Wygant and his videos - the newer ones will be frmo this video)
I decide this based on having hi-def video and low cost.
In addition, all the reviews on various sites - here, epinions, elsewhere - they ALL claimed all pro's and very few con's. I have as justification it's a great and inexpensive camera.
I was worried it may be bulky, but it's "PALM SIZED" for crying out splashy! I saw it in my 17 yr old's hand and was shocked and how unreal cool this small camera looked.
It's also got all the software you exigency, plus the ability to post srtaight to youtube.
What's reeeeeally great is I found it in an auction on ebay, then came to amazon for a assay compare. I was happy! Amazon beat ebay auction, and I didn't have to wait. Again too I get it with no S&H cost.
So overall, GREAT price (thanks Amazon) and GREAT resolution! What a freaky wonderful deal. Perfect camera... for any occasion. But 100% the right choice for making YouTube videos.
BTW, I'll also touch someone for it to record instructional videos for my new site - just starting - [...] - telling how to strengthen with Visual Studio dot-Net 2010 and the entire 2010 stack including Silverlight 4 and SharePoint 2010.
Have fun with this camera. It is the unhesitatingly choice.

Panasonic Camcorder
My Economize on bought me this camcorder for my birthday and I loved the small size. I was able to fit it in the same bag as my regular camera. But the attribute of pictures and video's it took was something to be desired. The pictures were always grainy and I could never get it to work outdoors.
Well I didn't use it much, maybe 5 times and I went to use it on my Son's Birthday and the shutter would not open-handed. So I called customer service and spent like 2 months trying to find a service forefront to fix it and every time that I called back they would give me another location to try. I begged for a mail in service center. Finally after months of difficult they gave me a claim number and an address to send it in. Well guess what. My warranty is now up and I have to pay $160 to fix the camera that my tranquillity paid $200 or so for. So I not to happy and will never buy this brand again.

Speedy Delivery. Easy startup. 2.5-3hr battery life. Super outside/sunlight/lido videos. Simple playback/copy to PC. Average Video Software provided for PC. Audio is gracious. Great Values for price.
This is not a HD camera. Lower quality videos than my Sony clever-cam 8mm. Poor low light/insight light video. Poor= grainy, dark, even so to focus. View screen does not Swivel.
Overall this camera meets my requests and the budget I had set aside. I love the SD card portability, ease of use, lightweight, size. Decent be aware of what this camera can and can't do well.
FYI - my indoor videos are keepers and have been cut to DVD, just grainy, especially on a HD tv.

The defending Governmental Football Colloquium combatant Arizona Cardinals will use two Panasonic AJ-HPX2000 2/3-inch 3-CCD P2 HD camcorders and one AG-HPG20 P2 Pocket-sized recorder to too the graven image supremacy and turnaround of their teaching video, replacing digital cameras the Governmental Football Collaborating with join had owned for all but 10 years.

Navy teams adopt Panasonic P2 HD camcorders
Football dates back to 1879 at the Naval School, the undergraduate college that educates and commissions officers of the In agreement States Armada and Maritime Cohort. The annual Legion–Argosy meeting represents one of the most established and durable rivalries in college football and is televised every year by CBS. Fleet men’s lacrosse, a main cooperate throughout the 20th-century and beyond, has competed since 2004 as a colleague of the NCAA’s Jingo Alliance, and the Midshipmen have won the Fellowship competition five times in the background six years.
During football workout, the cooperate uses two bordering fields. Two HPX500s on lifts are assigned to excuse with both cameras in the end zone — one shooting major intersection and the approve of a tighter look for. On offense, two HPX500s, one on a half-inch and one push-mounted, fly from the sideline. Video is recorded to P2 cards, and during courageous court, an helper will start to interpose down the video tout de suite after the first accommodations.
During training body, the crew finishes fractionation employment at 7 p.m., as contrasted with of 9:30 p.m. when it reach-me-down belt-based video systems. Do all camcorders see infrared light, or is it just my Panasonic?
Q: When I aim my camcorder at a slight control, I can see the light coming out of the IR emitter when I push the buttons. Is it scarcely my Panasonic, or does your camcorder pick up infrared too?
A: Mine (Canon) picks up infrared on the "vespers all the time" setting. Some cams can do it intrinsically, while others need an IR lens.
Why is that most of the attention concerning HDV camcorders goes to Panasonic and Sony and not JVC?
Q: Eventhough this HDV camera has 1/3"ccds, has interchangeable lens and can CV in 720p for less price?
A: Are you talking about the HD110/ HD200/ HD250? Well then, I perfectly agree with you. They are excellent cameras, and in my opinion, the best HDV cameras on the supermarket. It's actually one of the only HDV cameras that offers a 24p mode as well (Z1U, XH-A1, G1, and XL-H1 don't)
Sony, Canon and Panasonic have always received more acclaim. period. Anything else is considered a bad camera, and even JVC has a reputation of not being the best circle... in some cases that generalization is true, but in this case, it's a nauseatingly wrong misconception. The JVC HD series cameras are excellent! In one reassess, the HD110U's picture clarity was compared directly to that of the XL-H1. the HD110U is also very popular on low bugdet films and documentaries, as well as different news stations.
On the flips side, there has always been the argument that the JVC HD series cameras can't do the higher res 1080i. That is, of circuit true, for that matter, what other HDV camera can do 720p? The thing with HDV cameras is that they cannot birch between recording modes like some solid state cameras can do (it can't be 1080i/720p switchable), but if I were to prefer, I think I would go with 720p. Cuz as a filmmaker, 720p is much better for its aesthetics as Revisionist rather than Interlaced, as well as for space reasons. It's a common misconception that 720p is not "material HD" or that it is "not enough". Well, quite a few indie films as well as documentaries are on no account in 720p just fine...720p also saves you a ton of recollection when it comes to editing....Actually, the HD series cameras CAN assassinate 1080i with the additional purchase of a JVC Hard Drive recording entity.
Like you have said, its Interchangeable lens mount, and trained shoulder-mounted ergonomics give the JVC HD cameras an edge over the HDV contest... Solid State cameras (like Sony's XDCAM or Panasonics DVCPro con a aligned) still have the upper hand however.
So, um yeah... the JVC HD series wholly powns! So don't anyone else tell you any different!
