OK champion Value, but DVD-RAM is not so simple...
I actually like this camera a lot. It is easy to use. DVD-RAM idea is great, but not super compatible.
My goal was to take videos with the camera, then set on fire the DVD-RAM disc's images onto DVD-R type disks and then be on my way.
This version of the camera does not have a USB port, so the only way to get your videos on your computer is by attractive the DVD-RAM out of the camera and inserting it into your computer CD/DVD drive. The only issue here is that most DVD drives that I know of do not read DVD-RAM discs, so I had to go out and buy a new DVD intend for my computer.
Now I can get the files from the DVD-RAM to my harddrive, but now I can't get any of my DVD programs to edit the file. I ended up buying Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD but that was incredibly expensive. This software allows me to edit the movies and then it gets the video all ready to be written to a DVD-R disc that you can go along with in your TV-based DVD player. The only problem with Womble (an otherwise awesome video editting software tool) is that they do not have DVD parching software bundled in with the program, so you have to use Nero or something like that to burn the disc.
Someone who wants to buy this camera and can use my evaluate above to learn what you have to do and what tools you need to do it will have a much easier time that I did.
I am all set up now and completely love it, however, there were a lot of growing pains in the erudition process. I hope this review makes it easier for you!

Hope I hadn't bought this
See other comments about the challenges of viewing this on your computer. They arrange it sound like you're just recording a DVD and you'll be able to pop it in anywhere. WRONG. And this model doesn't fit directly to a computer directly. Be careful when buying these to make sure you can do what you want to. I feel kidding abused having purchased this and it makes me far less likely to purchase from Hitachi in the future, or to purchase this variety of electronics through Amazon (and I'm otherwise a very happy Amazon customer).

If you homelessness to record home movies directly to dvd on a budget
You are not universal to get every option avaliable with this camera! But then again your not paying for for every option either! Just take the time to reaserch your wishes and what your budget is. Personally I wanted to record family movies directly to DVD and convert my old HI8 and VHS video to dvd. This camera does this with no ungovernable in fact really easy. If you want to edit on a computer which I also do with this camera as I did with my old HI8 you can purchase an external video input hub that connects through a usb anchorage for around $30 but you can edit on the camera just the same. I compare the camera in terms of cars - Yes there are cadilacs but everyone can't sacrifice to own one or don't feel the need to have the most expensive car on the lot (that will be outdated in a few years) A Buik is a nice ride to and is 10K less!

There is no "firewire " with this one
Without purchasing another shard of hardware ,you cannot record to dvd via PC with this little number.All the other features are great but it's like traveling 500 ft and stopping insufficient briefly 1 foot from the destination .WTF!!!!
Amazon advertises the Monster cable as an "accessory". Really?
I have no thought why ,after spending the 39.99 for it and opening it like Ralphie from a Christmas story it may as well have been a bunny pajama entreaty.In hindsight I would have purchased the 780 not the 730,but it wasn't disclosed .

fix sure you have a multi format DVD system if you use the RAM discs...
i have had this part for over a month (summer 2005), took it on a trip to Vegas and even in very high ambient eagerness there, it has performed flawlessly. also used both mini DVD-R (best general choice for most people) but also acquainted with and recorded to the mini DVD-RAM discs which come in those nice protective case cartridges.
AN Respected ISSUE;
on the RAM disc issue.... my home PC system did not have a DVD which could read the RAM format, so... i bought an LG GSA 5163D extrinsic drive which is both very affordable, and very good. the mini DVD-RAM cartridges have a small spring clip on each side which, when pressed inwards, allows the disc to be removed and played or infer from in a normal DVD drawer inner (mini) table. i believe you have seen those small fallacious depressions in the inside DVD tray... the 8 cm ones.
('they' say that the predictable life of the RAM media is 100,000 cycles with the houses and only 1,000 cycles without it.)
the LG drive also comes with a bunch of software and cables, connects both USB and Firewire, and is absolutely quiet.
with that drive, i can use and reuse the DVD-RAM on this Hitachi camcorder. without it, again, i only suggest anyone using this camcorder try the mini DVD-R organization which plays on most every deck i have tried them on lately.
the camcorder came with one 120 minute battery-operated. i bought an extra long life battery which is a good idea as i take this thing everywhere.
the capacity of this unit to handle delicate shades of color and smooth details is very rewarding. depending on the oath i pick, one of these small discs can hold at least 60 minutes of video. taking videos in low foolish conditions works down to around 0.3 lux. by the way, i have a small vac brush and use it after every shoot outside, and this was especially dependable in sandy Las Vegas.
Amazons delivery service is superb by the way!
this camcorder was one of the least expensive ones i found, and seems to do everything my older Mini-DV does, and the DVD form takes a few steps out of the process.

Eminent HD Hybrid Camcorder, Great Price!
I am very satisfied with the acquisition of Hitachi DZ-BD10HA Camcorder. It is the only HD hybrid camcorder on the market that offers recording on Blu-ray disc, hard tour and memory card. You can copy the recorded video between all three of them within the camcorder. I usually record my video on the unyielding drive and then back it up on Blu-ray disc right inside the camcorder. So far no problems. The HD video quality is grand!

Well-tutored Camcorder
Fitting purchased this camcorder new for less than half retail. It takes great video outdoors and general video for sub $1000 camcorders indoors. Despite comments in previous review about Mac compatibility it is very compliant to transfer data from the hard drive to either the DVD or directly into a Mac. However, even if it wasn't I wouldn't let that influence my consider too much since less than 10% of the population even uses a Mac.

Not in accord, not up to what it claims
My conceal and I have had this camera for a couple of months and have used it quite a bit over the holidays. The picture quality for outdoors is appropriate for a small hand-held camera, and (as with any hand-held) the indoor image excellence is a little fuzzy.
One of the first things we both noticed was the short battery life. We only tried the camera in Compressed Drive mode, I can't imagine the poor battery life when recording to BluRay.
However, my topmost disappointment was that Hitachi had claimed its Mac compatibility. After several attempts to upload through iMovie and having to force-exit every time, I finally saved my videos through copying them from the camera's hard drive to my Mac's steely drive. The file format used is a Unix Executable File, an .MTS file. This categorize is not compatible with the Mac OSX system.
Needless to say, neither my husband nor I am happy with this camera.

Terrbile Option
This mount will not charge my Lenmar Battery RHB66. I even bought a new Lenmar battery to see if the old battery was the unruly and it will not charge that one either. I would not recommend this charger.

Will not bid EP096FL
This entity will not charge my EP096FL RCA battery. It acts as though the battery is at full charge. I have just put the battery on the original RCA stallion and it has been charging for 20 minutes and is still going. This unit has some sensor problems with this model of freestyle. In summary, for my purposes, this charger is worthless. Good-bye $$$$.

This point is not Equivalent to the DR3 as Stated
I ordered this element as a replacement for a Duracell DR3 7.2V Lithium Battery. What I get is a Duracell DR9609 7.4V Lithium Mobile which is not usable in my equipment.
I will not be purchasing from this seller again.

Artefact description stated Panasonic battery equivalent Li-ion at 2040Mah and 7.2V. And in product features element it said 7.4V 2400 Mah. So I expected, of course, a CGA-DU21 equivalent. What I received was a CGR-DU14 which does not imply the Mah on the back. It says 11.1Wh. Must be about 1400 Mah. So I am now stuck with 2 batteries that are not as ordered, but to go thru the return process and pay for shipping again, and possibly restocking fee, and then have to order the one I really wanted, is such a pain. Guess I will just live with these. Don't make good the same mistake.

Looking for some personal honest reviews on the Hitachi Hybrid camcorders.?
Q: I am in the marke for a new camcorder, my old one is large and not very practical. Really interested in the Hitachi Hybrids but would really like some uncorrupt reviews of this camera.
A: I was looking at the same camera, but everyone told me that it had bad representation quality. I liked the hybrid feature, but then realized I didn't after to spend the money buying those stupid dvds anyway (3 for $15 and each only holds 20 mins), compared to harddrive holding at least 7 hours. I'm opting to get solely harddrive and buy JVC's $150 lightweight burner. That way if i am ever traveling and need more space, just have to overcook to some cheap DVD's that I have anyway. I'm considering the Sony DCR-SR200 and the Panasonic SDR-H200 as contrasted with (the Panasonic has 3CCD which is very good supposedly). Just my thoughts...

Q: I owe a Hitachi-DZ-MV730A camcorder, one of the at the crack DVD camcorders, it does not have even a USB interface.
I recorded some images on a DVD and now I want to try to transform that video movie into a common video format (mpeg, avi, etc) in proclamation to use it on my PC or upload it to YOUTUBE

A: Peradventure because you did not finalise thedisc - or possibly because you do not have the correct software.
Try it this way
Use a outline such as Corel VideoStudio - you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making confident it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to 'finalise' the mini DVD your camera instructions will tell you how to do that - you should note though that once you have finalised a disc you will not be able to use it again or add further videos to it.
At bottom VideoStudio you select "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" and call the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can prepare it - add lots of different videos together cut out bits you don't want - add titles/music/recounting - If you wish you can then output a file to e-mail or upload to Youtube etc. - and at long last burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.

On the back of mini dvd-r's it says can be used in Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi. Can it not be used in Kodak cams?
Q: Improve! I haven't been able to find any mini dvd-r's that says specifically that it can be inured to on Kodak camcorders.
A: I don't be familiar with of any Kodak camcorders, but if they're making a DVD based camcorder it'll have to conform to the DVD standards. Mini-DVDs aren't made for definite camcorders - they'll work in anything.
