Not pleased with the product.
First, Amzaon has shipped us the malfunction product. We have ordered for the 2nd generation(and was charged for it) and we got an old model(Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video Camcorder with 8 GB Video Storage and 2x Digital Zoom (Negroid) OLD MODEL). We have returned the product and the main reason for our return is after you record and play the video, the audio is not in sync with the video. Remarkably when you play the video for the second time the audio is way out of sync and you hear something different from what you recorded. I mull over it's best to buy a digital camera which records good quality video instead of spending lettuce on this.

Performs well!
It's strict to review today's technology. So many products do a great job at what they are meant to do and are very easy to use, it's hard not to impartial give them all 5-stars. The Creative Labs Vado HD camcorder performs as advertised. It is small, easy to use and transfers video without difficulty to the computer. My daughters (8 and 6) use this camera and love it. It is tough to get a good image in low light-headed, but not awful. It has not taken over preferred status from our Flip Video camcorder because the Flip was here first and the Anger software is ingrained in them already (and it's more intuitive). However, it may take over based on the fact that the Flip's batteries die purportedly every week. The Vado's rechargeable battery is a huge plus as is the included HDMI chain. FYI - The silicon skin didn't last 1 minute on the camera. Literally, ONE minute before the girls had that item off. "Too ugly and bulky".

It must be tough playing catch up to the market leader, but if your commodity is sound and has enough little extras (Rechargable battery, HDMI), I think you'll do just mulct. This is a quality product (so far, so good!) and I look forward to the competition bringing out new features and deign prices!

Eximious Pocket Camcorder
The only beef I have is that it doesn't produce good quality video in low light. Everything else about this unit I'm very happy with. I found it serenely to use and had no problem making decent video after fully charging the unit. Down loading video couldn't be easier either with the units preloaded program. Complete I'm happy with this purchase.

Terrible
I bought this for my bride who is not the most tech savy person and she handles this no prob. Controls are easy to use and the picture looks Cyclopean, the microphone does pick up the person who's holding it voice over others but what do you expect from a device that is the same judge as an ipod. This pocket cam is awesome for whats it's designed for, we got it for Christmas and were able to watch what we recorded swiftly on the TV via HDMI... no converting to computer first... AWESOME... The video does be a question of out better in full light but not that bad in low light. the only other feature i would want would be an expandible flash card celebration slot... but with 2 hours of on-board memory you really don't need it.

Prodigious portable camcorder
This is a camcorder I in point of fact use. I have another camcorder that has a flip screen but it is a pain lugging it around. But no problems carrying the Vado around. It looks and weighs as much as a apartment phone and is easy to use.

sympathetic for the price
I checked many reviews before I got it (6 months ago, paid $125), so it is more or less what I expected. I use it for fun, so it is ok for me. Go mad and Kodad HD camcorders were more expensive ($50 or so more). I prefer to use VGA mode because files are smaller so it is trusting to upload videos to youtube, but HD is pretty good.
pro:
- easy to use
- video quality options: VGA, HD and HD+
- skilled to connect to HDTV directly (cable included)
- easy transfer to computer
- very light

cons:
- my right complain is the mic. You need to talk really close to the camera to get good sound. If recorded strong would very important for your videos, you should look for another make. Also, you can't connect external mic.
- software included is barren.

My computer have vista ultimate 64. I could see the videos I recorded, but couldn't edit them using WMM until I found this tutorial [...]

Outrageously Disappointed
I don't remember if I received a broken camera, or all of the cameras are like the one I got. The camera did come already half charged which leads me to fancy that it was previously used, even though I did buy it new. The image quality was embarrassing. To call the footage HD would be the biggest lie I'd ever told. The video grandeur was also extremely crappy. The camera would just cut off the video when it was being moved, and then cut back in when it felt like it. The computer equipment was okay, I wouldn't mind keeping it my pocket if it did work. With all the being said, I immediately returned the element to the seller. I would not recommend this item to anyone. Save your money.

Windows 7 saved this camera !
I almost gave up on this video camera only because I could not find agreeable to use software to just create a DVD of what I recorded. The built in software did not work if you recorded in HD. You would get video, but no vocalize shout out or sound and no video. However, the YouTube feature worked perfectly. Windows Movie Maker that comes with Vista did not perceive the .AVI file even though it was supposed to. It lacked the codecs for the HD file.

We upgraded to Windows 7 and the Windows Big Maker worked great! It works flawlessly and easy to use. We now get so much use out of this great video camera. I fondness it.

Cons: Cannot upgrade to a larger flash memory. It is only built in. The USB connector gets in the way of the tripod mount. You must be supportive of it out away from the camera for it to fit or use Creative Lab's tiny tripod. I use it on a 52" tripod.

An Weak No-Brainer
It's strong to believe a product this small would perform so well, but it does!! The portability is a huge plus, and the asceticism is what every non-geek dreams of. Nothing to download into your computor as the program to operate it is built into the camera itself! Although the playback cover is small,(as is the whole unit)and the speaker just allows you to hear what you've recorded, don't be discouraged. Once you download onto your computor through the ultra-unvarnished USB hook-up, the picture is excellent (especially on HD+) and the sound is excellent because the microphone is actually absolutely sensitive in what it picks up. This camera is like a cellphone in size. It can always be with you w/out taking up too much space.I've never put music to a video before , yet with this portion I was doing just that in about 3 minutes. Definetely check out [...] for more good advice and instructions on this constituent. It's great to keep a high quality videocamera on yourself for those unexpected moments in life. The accessories are a information idea. I'd suggest a protective cover,an AC charger(or a USB charger that plugs into a wall.) If you are wealthy on vacation check out the underwater plastic pouch that lets you snorkel up to 15' earnestly to get underwater pictures. If you do long segments of recording(weddings etc) think about an extra freestyle, otherwise 1 is enough. For the price this is a great unit that is alot of fun!! The practical and fun applications are endless. Retain.....the Gen3 unit has less memory 4gig than this unit (Vado HD) which has 8gig. The memory is worth it!!

It's so smidgen
That's the first id I noticed, it's the size of an iPhone and yet it's an HD video camera and a digital camera. Now if you are filming an lengthy movie, this is not the device for you. But if you are out walking and see bigfoot or an UFO, this camera is just the right size to have in your camp to film them. (Be sure to keep the just out of frame and bounce around a lot)

There are several very nice features, the built in USB is excellent so you can connect quickly to any computer. The software is built in to install quickly and it allows you upload true to YOUtube or other sites easily.

Now it does have couple negatives, no external memory channel for SDcards and only 4GB of memory. The Focus and Light Adjustment features are a little sensitive, but that by a hair's breadth requires a little practice to use them. And I have to say that sometimes it is just too small when you are trying to film something elaborate.

Whole this is a very nice product that you can have on hand for those times you wish you had a video camera, as well as those times that a more ornament system would be intrusive.

Be wary!! Just Be Informed
Okay ...

I purchased this pygmy video camera so that I would NOT have capture video from "tape".

Yes, this video camera does a adroit job IF you want to go straight from the camera TO YouTube. However, might I remind you, that IF you plan on getting this camera, with apprehension of editing the video in another application, such as Sony Vegas, or Adobe Premier, GOOD Chance!!! You have to do a lot of leg work ... and to me, it's just not worth it.

The editing software that comes with it is VERY bad, to say the least. OH, you can crop the front and back end. However, you can't JOIN other clips together. So, if you WERE planning on post to YouTube, and say, you were using this camera to build a tutorial. You'd have a very ill-behaved time, and merely impossible with the included software.

Now ... somebody had mentioned Nero 9, but, let's features it ... A somewhat upper level, professional software like premier or vegas, ought to be gifted to handle these files.

So ... just informing you.

In beloved with this little camcorder!
I am new to the camcorder incident, as my camcorder as been my camera in video mode. I can't say enough good things about this little device. Straight off out of the box I charged for about 4 hours. It auto installed the software and drivers needed to display the program on my computer. The program is Creative Vado Significant and after taking a video I plugged into my computer, my computer prompted me for the program and I choose Creative Vado. From there it loaded my video and then I could put by to my hard drive, post to my facebook or youtube. The video was so clear and the audio was unbelievable. The only drawback was in dark areas in which the camera doesn't do night/dark filming. I loved how I could take in the videos, upload and delete from the program. ( I know I can do from my computer as well but this is so simple ! )

I am so impressed. Many of my friends are impressed with the marvellous HD quality, and I can't wait to get a software program so I can edit my videos like I have seen online.

I improvise this is a awesome device, and my mother is so impressed she is going to buy one this weekend! Easy to use, and great dignity. Thanks Amazon! :)

My First Lift Video Camcorder - and It's an Excellent One!
Offered to me for for free by Amazon Vine, this is the first such product I have ever owned. Years ago, I took many home movies on peel with 8mm silent, Super-8 silent, and Super-8 sound being the types I used, and then later I went to a JVC GR-SZ9 Wonderful VHS camcorder. However, several years ago, I lost interest in video tape and I stopped taking home pictures.

Fast forward to now: we have a granddaughter of whom we'd like to have some videos; I had been investigating various camcorders but had not yet made a decision.

Amazon Vine, with this Creative Labs Vado HD 3rd Epoch Pocket Video Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black) - NEWEST Exemplar, made it for me.

I received the unit yesterday and, per the instructions, I charged the battery. Now the instruction say to insert the mobile into the camcorder and attach the camcorder to a USB port on your computer. I wanted to see if there was an alternate method of charging the freestyle - and there is! You need only attach the camcorder (with the battery inserted) to a Creative Labs Battery Charger for Vado and Vado HD Camcorders or equivalent and plug the adapter into a wall socket. This is quite advantageous.

Amazon offers a auxiliary battery [Creative Labs Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery for Vado HD Camcorder] and external chargers, one for the place and one for the car [Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video Camcorder 6 Feet USB Extention Cable, Car Mare, Travel Charger], thereby offering the option of having two batteries - using one while keeping the other one charged. That will be unequivocally a convenience and you'll never run out of power. Amazon also offers several carrying cases for this unit (one is even waterproof). The prices for these garnishing, as well as several other accessories offered by Amazon, are quite reasonable.

I want to emphasize the fact that the mobile is easily removable and replaceable. This is a rare thing in this age of built-in non-replaceable (except by the factory at a very aged price) batteries and, for me, is a distinct advantage.

I was a bit worried that the camcorder might not work with my computer; it is configured to business with either Windows (XP SP2, Vista, or 7) as well as Mac - but I use the Ubuntu Linux operating system on my computer.

I need not have worried. The camcorder works full in conjunction with my computer and it will obviously work well with yours, regardless of your operating system. And transferring a video or picture folder from the unit to your computer is a snap!

Thus far I have had only enough time to try the cam minimally. I have tried all three video settings - HD+ and HD (both are configured to cast MP4 files with AAC+ sound and the video in both is 1280 x 720) and VGA, which also produces MP4/AAC+ files with the video is formatted at 640 x 480 (idealistic for e-mailing and for posting to YouTube, etc.). I did send via e-mail a VGA video [33 seconds, 8.9 MB] to my son (who lives across the native land in California) and he said the video was fine - though there was some "snow" in the picture (I had sent him a video of our latest whiteout! ... ;-) ... just to bring back to him some "fond memories" - he always hated shoveling snow!).

The duplicate quality in all three settings is excellent. (My son was actually quite amazed at the quality of the video I had sent him - and recollect that this was taken at VGA, the lowest quality setting.) I believe that any purchaser will be surprised and VERY pleased with the results this camcorder supplies. I am!

Sound recording, being somewhat more problematic, is good if care is taken; an external microphone, which this constituent can accommodate, would greatly improve the sound quality but at a price, of course - both the cost of the microphone as well as the price in portability and ease of use.

I think that, for most people, the built-in microphone will suffice.

It is very easy to transmute MP4 files to the Audio_TS and Video_TS files used on DVDs and I plan to make DVDs from the videos I take with this camcorder.

I also tried captivating a still picture. It turned out quite nicely though not as good as that which can be obtained with a dedicated digital camera.

Nonetheless, compelling into consideration its size (tiny), weight (next-to-nothing), ease of use (REALLY easy!), and the corresponding to high quality of the videos and pictures it produces, this camcorder is a definite winner.

Frankly, as I'm effective you are aware and as I indicated, it is not going to replace an elaborate dedicated video camcorder or a specific digital camera (especially a DSLR or Micro Four-Thirds model) for certain applications but, with its portability and palliate of use and the fact that you can take it everywhere you go, this unit will be available to you when you might not be carrying one of those more elaborate cameras. Plus it "boots up" VERY recklessly (and can be set to turn on even faster, if you wish) so you will never miss a shot. The videos and pictures it produces are far well-advised b wealthier than anything that I have seen produced by a cell-phone. It even features a standard tripod mount!

Is there anything I would like to see distorted? Yes - I wish Creative would introduce a model which had NO internal memory and used an SD or similar card. The consumer of such a product would essentially have "unlimited" room to take video (imagine using a 32 GB union card!) and would not have to transfer files to a computer or external hard drive (and delete them from an internal memory) exactly as often.

But that is really a minor point. Given this camcorder's wonderful attributes (including its self-explanatory superb construction quality - which includes its lens and LCD screen), I can give it NO LESS than five stars - as well as my highest blessing possible.

What can I say, this is a arrant little camera. I have two of them and they work great. I have a camcorder that costs 5 times as much and it's sitting in my stand collecting dust because I take my Vado with me every where I go.
They are easy to use (point and shoot ) and the picture quality is solicitous.
I've used it for personal video logs and just every day capture life videos.
It's sad that the older models won't be to hand any longer but I'm sure that the newer ones in High Definition will be just as good. The fad I like about it most is the .avi format that the video is taken in. You can play your video's on any computer and if you want you can purchase any of the many video exchange programs to put on to DVD. Great little camera. Only disappointment is the digital zoom on it. The pictures has a bias to be a bit blurry on digital zoom. But.. any camera you get that has digital zoom (even the ones that costs hundreds more ) has the same can of worms. Optical zoom is the best.

a flair for my daughter
I gave this to my 28 yr. old daughter for Christmas. She is 'into' photography, etc. and realized the video distinction was too grainy, esp. when on the 'big' screen of the computer. She sent it back right away and upgraded to the HD version

Vado camp camcorder
Along with my notecase and keys my Vado pocket camcorder is in my pocket every time I leave the house. This unpretentious, lightweight video camera is very handy. It is easy to use, mostly because it has very few controls, and can be mastered in minutes. The batteries afflict fast and hold their charge. The USB plug that is stored in the cotton corner of the camera case looks flimsy but has given me no problems so far. I think a plug with a longer cord would be more inconvenience prone.

Although the camera stores an hour of video I am disappointed with the video quality. It is no elevate surpass than cell phone video. Most youtube videos are of higher quality than this camera produces. Because it is a camera only, I was in a family way more. The zoom function is jerky. The sound is better than I expected. The software which is supposed to take into account automatic login to youtube did not work for me, but my computer is locked down pretty tight so maybe it is due to a consent problem resulting from my computer's configuration.

Creative Labs Vado Cavity Video Camera
What can I say, this is a spectacular little camera. I have two of them and they work great. I have a camcorder that costs 5 times as much and it's sitting in my stall collecting dust because I take my Vado with me every where I go.
They are easy to use (point and shoot ) and the picture quality is convincing.

You can play your video's on any computer and if you want you can purchase any of the many video deliverance programs to put on to DVD. Great little camera. Only disappointment is the digital zoom on it. The pictures has a bent to be a bit blurry on digital zoom. But.. any camera you get that has digital zoom (even the ones that costs hundreds more ) has the same difficult. Optical zoom is the best.

I bought this memorandum for me,and I have to say it is so easy to use. Its small enough to fit anywhere.
Even if this item is only 1GB and only holds 2 hours of video. I would highly recommand it to my one's own flesh & friends

a donation for my daughter
I gave this to my 28 yr. old daughter for Christmas. She is 'into' photography, etc. and realized the video rank was too grainy, esp. when on the 'big' screen of the computer. She sent it back right away and upgraded to the HD version

Vado pinch camcorder
Along with my notecase and keys my Vado pocket camcorder is in my pocket every time I leave the house. This uncomfortable, lightweight video camera is very handy. It is easy to use, mostly because it has very few controls, and can be mastered in minutes. The batteries direction fast and hold their charge. The USB plug that is stored in the cotton corner of the camera protection looks flimsy but has given me no problems so far. I think a plug with a longer cord would be more affliction prone.

Although the camera stores an hour of video I am disappointed with the video quality. It is no advance than cell phone video. Most youtube videos are of higher quality than this camera produces. Because it is a camera only, I was in a family way more. The zoom function is jerky. The sound is better than I expected. The software which is supposed to acknowledge automatic login to youtube did not work for me, but my computer is locked down pretty tight so maybe it is due to a leave problem resulting from my computer's configuration.

This is a smashing little camcorder. Very small
and easy to travel with. Great that it fits

Flip Ultra, Creative Labs Vado, Other Suggestions?

Well, I'm in search for an affordable camcorder. Expectantly below $200 and I've been coming across the Flip Ultra and the Creative Labs Vado.

Flip Ultra, Creative Labs Vado, or the RCA small wonder?

Q: For equip i am going to do a documentary and i need a cheap camcorder. All i have occasion for is somewhat good quality and that the videos can be imported to windows silver screen maker.

A: The turn ultra. It has surprisingly very good audio and video dignity for the cheap and small camcorder that it is. It does not have a very good zoom tho. The Vado has a larger partition and is a bit slimmer but it does not pick up colors as good as the Go mad ultra and the volume is very low. As for the RCA small wonder, i do not know much about it but as far as i distinguish, it has alot of similarities to the flip video. But i just got my Snap ultra, and it is amazing. TheFlip.com even sells a tripod, an under heavy water case, and some other cool stuff. So yea I would go for the Flip ultra.

Which is better the Pure Digital Flip Mino HD or Creative Labes Vado HD?

Im actually tendency towards the Vado HD but i just read a review that says the Mino HD does elevate surpass out doors.
