Correct FOR THE PRICE!!
I BOUGHT THIS CAMCORDER FOR THE Premium AND COMPACTABILITY. SO FAR IT'S JUST RIGHT FOR TRIPS, VACATIONS AND HOME PICTURES/VIDEOS. NOT THE Topmost BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE HD, BUT VIDEO IS NOT THAT BAD. FOR THE CHEAP PRICE(UNDER $45)IT'S WORTH IT. COMES WITH ONLY 1 MIN. OF MEMORY SO YOU Demand TO BUY AN SD CARD UP TO 8GB TO GET MORE VIDEO TIME(7.5 HRS). COBY HAS DECENT PRODUCTS THAT I PURCHASED OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANY Big PROBLEMS WITH THEM. THIS CAMCORDER FOR AMATEURS IS JUST RIGHT.

Almost entirely useless!
I wasn't gravid much, considering the price, yet I was still underwhelmed. I'm inexperienced, so I naively thought technology versus expense had moved further along than this, but the video quality reminds me of an old mobile phone or web cam of 10 years ago. I find it deficient even as a "starter" for a child.
1. video quality is very low/grainy
2. video is dark unless you are outdoors in radiant sunlight, and then direct sunlight will also be a problem.
3. audio is extremely poor and weak
4. uncoordinated design

You get what you pay for
This is a remarkably cheap, portable camera, so I guess I shouldn't have expected much, but it basically has really bad show and audio quality. Videos aren't even taken in widescreen. I know it's tempting because it's reasonably, but I would say save the money you would have spent on this to buy one that's better that you'll actually be happy with. I know I wish I had saved the filthy rich to buy something better. But my biggest annoyance with this camera? There's no place for a tripod. I bought this to make vlogs for YouTube, but I can't do that without a way to set the camera down.

quality the money
enormous camera for the price. The batteries seem to last forever in it. Alot longer than my digital camera, thats for indubitable. Picture quality is really pretty good. Fairly good zoom, although not authentic good for extremely up close. With the extra 8G chip I have 7 1/2 hrs of record time. One set of batteries will unquestionably last for half that time at least. The bad side of it is that it has no flash for just the camera and no light either for movies. You have to be in the light. You sine qua non half way decent light if you are inside. Outside the house I haven't any problems with lighting, only at sunset. It's my first video camera and I have had a lot of fun with it so far.. Glad I bought it.

It's advantage the price you pay, don't expect high dollar quality.
I have a video scrutiny posted on youtube. The hyperlink is listed at the bottom.
I will try to post more videos with this cam in different conditions to show it's exhibit.
Why only 3 stars?
1) The arcsoft media impression 2 software included is totally worthless not to reveal I emailed them 2 days ago via their tech support avenues and have yet to hear back from them. The software locks up and crashes every previously you try to use it. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but that only led to the same results. It says it is compatible with windows 7 though I have doubts about this. Besides after viewing what I could of the software it doesn't have much to proffer that Windows MovieMaker can't top.
2) There is no mount for a tripod
3) The sound quality after about 4 feet away at conformist vocal level isn't very good
4) Once the batteries get down to 1 bar the flash is dissabled in photograph mode
5) For the most part zoom is inept as it degrades the picture quite a bit
6) No input for an external microphone
Overall though I would recommend this cam for an budget-priced alternative for risky outings and youtube postings. If it gets damaged or lost at least you aren't out a lot of pelf. Good starter cam or gift for the kids maybe.
You can see videos made with this cam at my youtube in the link below.

Very Cheap but does the job
It feels more like a seedy toy, but so it far has functioned fairly well, and mechanically it is pretty easy to use...My main problem is while it is easy to move between the video, camera and playback options the separate out is very subject to glare and it is often diffcult to see what option the camera is set to, or what is actaully in the viewfinder when outdoors in the sunlight. That being said, you get what you pay for, and I in actuality think (since the the cost of this product is so cheap) that this product provides more than one would expect for the cost.

It's dainty.
The Snapp is kinda cunning. I bought it as a gift for me 8 year old niece, but decided to open it up and play with it before hand. It's a honourable thing I did!
Pros: It's small & compact
Easy to use
No need for the disc that's included.
Cons: The at all events it comes with is thinner than a regualr sock and half as protective.
You HAVE to purchase an SD card in reserve to use it,it wont allow you to take pics/video without it.
It feels kinda cheap in your hand but I believe it's because it's lighter than I had anticipated. Over all, easy to use, great for a kid or someone just looking for a cheap camcorder:) I would totaly buy this again for my niece or even as a at toy for myself. Buy an SD card and a case if you'll need it adn it's a great buy!

Short Quality, Poor Picture, Poor Support, Poor technology
I bought this camera, Christmas 2009. It is now Trek 2010 and the camera is fully dead.
I noticed a problem about two weeks into using the work. It developed a "tick" during recording....tick...tick....tick....tick....like a clock....I was downhearted to hear it on playback as well...I wrote to the tech support crew from the Coby website. I never received a reply.
Sometime Mid-February, the camera developed a bug where, when I turned it on, it would say "HDMI" and the screen would black out, making the camera completely unusable. Again, I contacted forward asking for help and never heard from them. At this time, I took the camera back to Fry's where I bought it but they wouldn't amends/exchange it because it had been 6 weeks. I got it to work a few times after that by connecting it to an HDMI TV to get to the menu's, but that really didn't nick. The problem persists.
How disappointing. Another inexpensive technology that only lives up to its promise for a limited at the same time then dies. Combined with *zero* support from the parent company, this product is a no-buy.
Think about how many resources get finished manufacturing products like this only to have them junked into landfills less than 6 months later. We need to check purchasing cheap technologies or Earth will pay the price...Lesson learned!!

The Snapp 5000 is not what it should be-
I bought this about a month ago and I at most opened the box to recharge the unit via its USB port.
Has anyone had the same thing happen to them with this device?:
It takes FOREVER to recharge its mobile.
From what I gather at the Coby website it should take a least 12 hours of recharge to finally get the device to work on a full commission.
I would rather not keep my computer running for 12 hours as the battery gets its "juice"...and there is NO way of recharging with an AC recharger.
I like the look of the instrument and it would be perfect for what I would use it for, but this recharging the battery is a major chore (speaking for myself!).
It's been two days on recharge through computer and the still the feel mortified red light blinks...meaning it's not done yet.
I may just return it.
Wotta pity!

Well-deserved purchased for xmas...
So I saw this outcome online and it looked legit so I picked one up for myself and a family member. All I want to know is, in 2010, what amicable of camera does not have a flash??? I was astonished when I realized this. I mean, even $30 camera phones have flashes!! I am in private extremely dissatisfied and am in the process of returning it.
All in all the phone isn't half bad, so long as you're not planning on compelling and pictures once the sun sets. For me personally though, most of the pictures I take are at night. This won't work.
Sorry to knock your commodity Coby, but c'mon now. Step your game up.

Jam camcorder
Appropriate for casual use. Noise when you click for zooming. No remote. Only 4x zooming.
Just a backup camcorder. If you're shooting e.g. graduation or weddings, for a not much more money, use a good camcorder. If just shooting short but good quality videos, ruminate on investing in high-end cellphones/pda. If you carry your psp or nintendo ds with you, cameras for these gamers might be enough for short low-property videos.

Not Really Ready for Primetime
The expenditure point when compared to the Kodak or Flip is great, however video quality is not up to the same standard as these competitors. Video appears lose washed out and grainy. Have also noticed a consistant issue with a horizontal line that appears in every video approx every 5 seconds.
If you are looking for an ultra sale-priced'o mini cam just to post video to YouTube and your Facebook account then these faults might not be so for. If you are in it for the long haul and would like the best possible picture quality out of a camera in this shape factor, you might want to consider the other options out there. I will be returning my recent purchase.

OK for the value
Global: appearance and material has a cheap feeling. Even though it is a low price, but I expect a little better when other correspond to model does a better job in this area. Comes with carrying bag and lanyard cable. Very informal to use, switching between video, camera and playback mode.
Video: Quality is nothing comparing to the violent price one like the HD version, but good enough for my 8-year old son. Inside recording is terrible. You will shortage lot of lights. Although the camera comes with a LED to illuminate the area, does not help much.
Picture: This one sucks. Mark is not any better than cheap phone camera, but I am not complaining this. My biggest issue is ... it takes a assist of two after you press the button, before capturing. This often creates a blurry pic because the camera moves during this time, which is ludicrous for a kid, or especially me. In this technology age, no camera should have that large delay, no exception.

Do not buy this camera
Do not buy this camera! It has never worked for me. As happily as I took it out of the package it would not charge. I tried to call Coby customer service to have it replaced as a warranty end and they told me that I would have to pay to send it to them and I would have to pay to have them send it back to me. The customer service agent was rude and not at all helpful! I do not counsel any of their products. I will NEVER buy anything Coby again and I suggest you steer clear of these cheaply made products.

Reliable for Kids
I bought this camera for my nephew's birthday. It is a authentic camera for a kid. He hasn't broken it yet, so it must be pretty durable. He likes that he can take pictures and video. However, the pictures do be shown out pretty blurry since his hands are not very steady. But if you are looking for a good first camera for a kid and not to worried about fill someone in quality, I would say go for it.
I was kind of bummed that the batteries are not rechargable, but it actually ended up working out as he wanted to frivolity with it right away and didnt want to wait for it to charge. The camera also has an auto turn off to save battery life when not in use.
Must be used in good light as the flash is poor.

Pronounced first camera / camcorder - tricky video editing
I use Adobe Inventive Suite 4[OLD VERSIONsuite to edit videos with shots taken from this camera. Premier Pro will not take videos from this camera, neither will After Effects. Photoshop Unfolded will. So I put my videos in photoshop and turned them into Quick Time movies (from the camera's AVI format). Then Chief executive Pro and After Effects would edit with them. Here is a 10 minute little movie I made with them.:
[...]
The above movie does not typify the sound quality. I overlayed it with some recordings from a sound recording system. You can see near the end of the movie, the videotape gets a little shaky. This does not happen too often, but it does happen, especially in wordy conditions. The more you move the camera the more likely the video quality can get bad. Usually the quality is good but some times not.
Here is a video I took of a VHS video played on a TV. This represents the sound of the camera from about 6 feet:

Stuff b merchandise for beginners.
This scrap camera does what it is supposed to do. Picture quality is ok for it being 1.3 mega pixels. Audio worth on the other hand leaves something to be desired. It records audio decently except for the high pitch squeal that is in most of the recordings. I am not steadfast why it doesn't happen in all of them but the majority it does. One thing I wish was different is the batteries. It uses 4 AAA batteries and deep down it should come with a rechargeable battery. This is because it shortens the battery life when you use either the built in light or video private showing often. This camera is great for beginners who do not want to spend a whole lot and want to try it out. If you plan on using it extended term I would suggest spending a little more and getting something better.
