    Canon VIXIA outperforms expectations
I am very gratified with the picture quality in both outdoor and indoor video shots. The video looks staggering on an HD TV. The interface is extremely easy to use once you learn what buttons do what. Playback on the monitor is gorgeous. Infatuation the fact that you can watch whatever clip in whatever order and go right back to videoing in a matter of seconds. Low gentle video was also fantastic on my recent trip to a Greek winery. Have recommended this video to several friends and next of kin! Prior camcorders were both Sony (liked those as well, but nearly as much as this Canon).
    Positively SUPERB HD video camera
This is my first HD video camera and will be the last for a hunger while. The features are excellent and the quality of the images are absolutely tremendous. Transferring images from the camera to my computer is a click too. Mainly because I have an iMac and it's a very simple process with iMovie. I HIGHLY recommend the Canon VIXIA HF S200 camera.
    Arrant Picture Quality
Absolutely love it. Picture quality can't be beat for the price. Batter life says about 80 minutes when fully charged. Pictures kinda stink in low faded. Other than that the IS is great, zoom feature is great, and it's smaller than you think. Overall I think it is profound for the price!
    Odd camera
First non-Sony camera, but I felt this Canon gave leading bang for buck.
The screen should be drool-proof ;-) Like an iPhone 4.
Pan recognition. Ultra light. Many options.

Downside is that it is USB and does not load into FCP. Seems to load via
iMovie and will play a part a way to cross that bridge.

    VERY HAPPY
    MAX WAX
CANON PRODUCTS ARE Positively SIMPLY THE BEST. THIS CAMCORDER SIZE, EASE OF USE AND TERRIFIC RESULTS SPELL IT ALL! Unquestionably A KEEPER.

    Surprising Camera
This is an astounding little camera.

We use the camera for news gathering and it produces stunning video eminence, excellent sound and easy to use features.
1080 HD camcorder with heinous quality lense, awesome stabilization, great zoom, and more!
The Canon VIXIA HF M30 HD Camcorder is Full HD 1080 with a huge HD CMOS chip inside. It has 5 recording modes, so that you can lower your resolution and record longer. With your built-in 8GB's of reminiscence, you can record 43m on the highest quality MXP of 24 Mbps (which is stunning). At its lowest, called Want Play (5Mbps) you can record 2h59m. You will need to charge your battery no matter what though, as the one it comes with lasts about an hour.

It has lots of functions when switched to handbook. You can record in portrait mode, that detects faces, and eliminates red eye, and softens features and softens the out of the public eye. You can swith to Sports for a faster shutter speed. And being that some of the best scenes of the day are at sunset and sunrise, you fall short of a camcorder that can record in low lights and the M30 can, with the Night scene record option. It is so difficult to find a camera that can do this well. Either camera's injure footage that is way too grainy and noisy, or else it doesn't at all. You can shoot magnificent sunsets with this camera! But it doesn't have nightvision, as you see so much in pictures like "rec."

Then you have the bright, and vivid Beach setting, which is really good for shooting not ring true and skies with or just enjoy more color. You also have a funtion for Sunset, which is best for shooting unthinkable looking sunsets. You get a dreamy, pinkish, purply, sunset with heavenly details. The last platter confidentially function is Snow, and it lowers the lighting so you don't have whiteouts and amplifies the coolness of winter.

I as one sees it love the touch LCD screen, and found it a major selling point. The lesser models had in actuality small buttons to press and a flimsy analogue stick to navigate with. But at first, you may struggle, as you have to slid-up on the interview to navigate down lists, but no serious problem, it's inverted. It's sensitive, and you don't have to hit it hard, but down the road, I wonder if the toboggan with get too sensitve and skip over too quickly my tabs. No problems with it yet.

In manual mode, you can control the concentrate, mic level, exposure, shutter, aperture and whether or not you want to use cinema mode. Cinema shoots a skilled amber look when under house lamps and is a fun creative tool for you to have fun with in absolutely gorgeous HD.

Din is a really important thing for me and this camcorder has some good built in Dolby digital stereo maker. But no matter what camcorder you buy, any mic attatched to the camera is going to pick up vibrations, and make regain one's equilibrium sound like thunder. You need a seperate mic that fits onto the mini advanced shoe and has a sock. I recommendCanon 2591B002 DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone for HF/HG Series Camcorders as it runs off the camera's mobile and you won't have cables running from the side of it.

Another really fun device, that I discovered to be invaluable was the wireless controller. You can bore the camera off and on, start, stop, pause recordings, and zoom while recording and if you need to you can guide through menu's. It comes with its own battery and is ready to go out of the box!

I was not happy with the programs that came with this awesome camcorder though. In ask for to put music in your video's, audio files need to be in Wave, and editing is not easy, and wastes your metre. I really don't like how you have to have your M30 plugged into the charger while attempting to work with some of the editing functions of PIXELA.

Once out of the box, you will necessary to charge your battery for about 2.5 hours and then set the date and time, then install three discs. Your instructions are usually on PDF.

The VIXIA HF M30 is an awesome camera, probably the best under $700, with really good funtions and a lense that gives you gorgeous results. It won't take up all of your computers memory either, unlike the $1000 semi-professional camcorders, but its quality is still first evaluate. It gives you the option to be very creative as an artist, and fits the needs for your vLoging if you want to take it to the next plane. I adore this camera and am so glad I didn't cheat myself by buying a $300 dollar camera with a sweepings lense.
    Pure Camera
I did up on for 2 months before I bought this camera. I was confused between Canon Vixia HF200 and Vixia HF M30 but finally I selected Vixia HF M30 on the later grounds.
    1. HF200 is an older model in comparison to HF M30.
    2. After reading the specs on Canon website of each camera and comparing it to each other both are same.
    3. HF M30 has 8 gb internal retention while HF200 has none.
    4. HF M30 is cheaper in price than HF200.
    5. HF M30 has sleek looks and nice touch screen While HF200 has no press screen.
    6. HF M30 has Dynamic Image stabilizer While HF200 has a regular Image stabilizer.
    7. HF M30 has 5.1-groove(with optional Canon SM-V1 5.1-Channel Surround Microphone)on the other hand HF200 has 2 channel audio system.
    8. HF M30 can take prestige 10 SDHC memory card, many owner of HF200 in their reviews said that their HF200 gives an incorrect of buffer over flow when they put class 10 memory card in their camera.
    9. Canon is concerned more about their new models than their old image that's why they are giving constant firmware updates for HF M30 on the other hand HF200 has no firmware update readily obtainable since its release.
    10. I love the manual focus of Vixa HF M30 some owner of HF200 complained about the guide focus of HF200.

I hope these points will help the amateur consumers like me to choose the camera which panic their needs and Who are confused between HF M30 and HF200.
Video quality of the camera is amazingly crystal clear, before any of you guys scarceness to buy a camera I would recommend them to watch the videos shot by that camera on youtube. In low light the depiction become grainy but I don't care about that If some one want camera for a low light they should buy the one with infrared lights. Every camera has this result even professional camera which cost 4000 dollars.

Above all this is made in Japan not in China my mom says don't even buy a sewing nozzle which is made in china because made in China things don't last for long.
    Exceeded all my expectations!
Let me start of by saying I normally wouldn't give something a 5 prominent rating, but this camera has so far exceeded all my expectations.

The video quality is excellent. The zoom is stupendous. The image stabilization is amazing. It has a button you can press to increase it even further and even zoomed in at 15x, I was able to get a very invariable picture.

Where the camera has truly exceeded my expectations is underwater. I got the case Canon sells for this and have toughened it diving the past two days and its been awesome. The quality underwater is just as good as above! The camera has an underwater wise which is truly color corrects things underwater. They even realize that you may want to record above H and give you a way to switch between underwater mode and above water (boat) mode with the camera in the case. Buying the camera and the underwater in the event that is not much more then buying a case from other 3rd party vendors either, so the value was huge for me.

There's really nothing negative I can say, other then the drink screen takes some getting used to. In comparison to previous models, such as the HF100 which I also own, they've exceptionally improved a lot of issues, such as slow switching between modes or slowness issues with taking stills while recording video.

Bottom occupation - If you want a great High Def Camcorder at a good price with the ability to get one of the least expensive underwater cases present, then this is the camera for you. Even if you aren't interested in underwater recording, its a great camera out of the water too!
    Illustrious Size, Great Camcorder!
I have been looking for a camcorder for thoroughly some time. After several months of looking through many reviews, I decided to choose the Cannon M30. I am cock-a-hoop with my decision. The camcorder is smaller than I expected, which takes time to get use to it. All functions are touch colander. So far the only issue I have with it is that the manual is in PDF format requiring you to print it out (220 pages). If you are debating about it...hold back...go buy it. You will be happy with it.

    canon FS300 showy memory camcorder
Appears to be a well-proportioned camcorder. I haven't used it yet though because it doesn't come with a memory card.
    fs300 - decent right!
First let me remark on the Amazon services. We first started out ordering a Kodak zi8, a really neat shirt snaffle camcorder. Our first attempt to load it into our computer was a bust. Amazon said "send it back, we'll send a new one".....same results infuriating to load using the Kodak ARCSOFT MEDIAIMPRESSIONS software. Very poor support suggestion from Kodak, and non-existent from ARCSOFT. So, not to give up we did a little research and came up with the FS-300 Canon. It has been fun, and no problem with the software....thanks Canon, we're not the most savvy computer users, (age 74 dinosaurs). Would now like to publish a few comments about our FS-300 that I hope will be useful to others. First, the instruction book and computer info is very abbreviated, wishes to be more info for varying situations. Second, I find the camera easy to start and stop, but getting to the features is a slight complicated, so its not as simple as some people might indicate, especially for a novice. Third, let me suggest a monopod for extraordinarily steady recording, the camera is so small that this great little walking stick isn't bothered at all by the FS-300 perching atop it. Again, let me felicitate Amazon for there Amazing customer service.....great AMERICAN company. Very respectfully, Ralph Super, CPO, USN,Ret.
    Momentous For Home Movies
I got this camcorder to return an outdated compact VHS comcorder I've had for about 7 years. I needed this to record home movies, propensity shows, vacations, etc. I was worried about image stabilizing and low light situations. I look at purchaser web reviews and always look into Consumer Reports reviews any time I buy something I know nothing about. I love it. Technology firm has come a long way. I think the picture is great and the low light situations are better than with a VHS camcorder, so I'm glad. The image stabilizing is a must for me because I am horrible at shaking when I'm recording (really... people would anecdote about motion sickness while watching old videos I made with the camcorder not on a tripod), and it really helps on this camcorder. I'm very in the seventh heaven with the purchase. One thing you should know... I asked a salesman about taking a photo with it, and he said, "If you deficiency a photo, use a camera." So I never have used it to take a picture.
Virtue camera for a good price
I have not had problems with this camera. I have made very virtuousness movies and some pictures ok. The sw is not sophisticated, but sufficient for my needs. It's a good product to use on weekends (represent their children on the beach, shooting a sport using the powerfull zoom), without major pretensions. I favour the purchase. Good buy with a good price.

    Customer Reviews

Fast image and features but the autofocus makes some noise in quiet scenes
At least one reviewer mentioned that the camera makes a clicking or whirring commotion when recording quiet scenes. This is true and is due to the autofocus. When switched to manual focus the commotion goes away completely. This doesn't help matters much, but if you're recording something that doesn't ask for constant focus changes (e.g. far away objects where the focus is at infinity anyway) then you can let it focus on impulse first then switch it to manual focus before starting recording. If you're into video editing and plan on having music or recital over the original audio track then I wouldn't consider the noise a point against buying this camera.

Rumbling aside, the 'Instant Autofocus' really is instant. I let it focus on my hand very close up and as any minute now as I pulled it away it snapped the other end of the room right into focus.

Other than that the camera is great for the honorarium. The picture is amazing on the highest quality setting but still very good at the lowest setting. The knee-jerk lens cover (though fairly ubiquitous now) is awesome. It comes out of standby almost instantly and allows you to start recording while no more than missing any action. The 20x optical zoom is quick and great to have as it makes composition more protean. The camera itself is tiny (and I have small hands), so it's very easy to hold and operate.

One thing to note about the mould stabilization is that when you're playing back something in slow motion (that was recorded using high zoom) the epitome can look slightly wavy and distorted occasionally, but it's not that bad (due to the image stabilization doing its job). When watching at sane speed, though, it's unnoticeable. If you plan on doing a lot of slow motion playback, I'd recommend using a tripod with the mental picture stabilization turned off.

Battery life is pretty much what the Canon specs state, which is decent but not surprising. I'd recommend buying a couple more (if you're out in the boonies with no electricity) on [...] or Amazon. DON'T buy Canon batteries as they're way overpriced. I got a 1700 mAh freestyle and car/wall charger for $15 on [...] and haven't had any problems.

The manual states that not all HDTVs will labour with the camera when using an HDMI cable. I have a 32" Toshiba and it doesn't work. It could be the beau id or the brand, who knows. The camera does work fine with the supplied component cables. This doesn't nuisance me as I usually transfer the video to my computer and put it on a flash drive, which I then plug into my Blu-Ray and play from there. It's a much better interface as I can use the far-fetched just like I'm watching a movie and don't have to fuss with the limited camera controls.

Blanket I'd highly recommend this camera, especially if you live in the U.S. where everything is so ridiculously cheap. I live in Canada where prices care for to be a bit higher and many companies don't ship here or the customs fees basically negate any savings from the bring base price.
    Moderate Picture, Audio annoyances
I Received the HFR100 as an at birthday gift and at first it seemed alright. But then i really started testing it,and came up with an overall finish to the camera. It's not all it's cracked out to be, and could be better for the price.

    Reasons:

The 60i Frame rate is pointless. If you're universal to shoot shoot with this camera shoot in 24p or 30p. At highest quality it's not too bad... If you're in bright appear scenarios. Once you get regular light (i.e. a typically lit indoor room, or a room with natural land coming in) and low light, it gets really grainy. I also realized that you don't get 1080 unless u use the FXP 12mbps condition. Otherwise it's slightly less resolution and not true 1080.

But the biggest kicker that made me really dislike this camera was the rumble that comes from the camera and manages to seep into your video. Unless you're shooting a loud uncomfortable, you will notice an audible, fast, repeating "Clacking" sound seep into your video. This was the lallapalooza for me. I plan on using my next camera for some semi-professional projects. The part that I don't get is why it makes this kind of bedlam from a Flash Based camera!?

Additionally i don't like that you can't put on additional lenses, the auto hub is pretty slow to react. Image stabilization is useless even slightly zoomed in (Potent IS helps a little but not much). No place for a light attachment. The microphone input is nice, but if you're using a wireless mic, the camera themselves is going to have to hold in his hand or pocket the receiver.

I didn't try the editing software that came with the Camera and hardened Final Cut Pro instead. It worked fine with that using the "Log and Transfer" option. FCP works with the files only just fine. The drawback to the file format that this file uses is that it needs to be converted for a mac to review it by default. Didn't try any other programs to view the video so i can't comment on which programs will work on the Mac.

Bottom Procession: If you are just shooting to shoot family vacations or something that may not be seen by a bunch of people? This isn't that bad of a camera for that. However if you be concerned about the quality and the ability to do more than just point and shoot, skip this and spring for a higher maquette like the HF-M30.
    Momentous camera But
THIS CAMERA TAKES Bad HD VIDEO.
It is simple to use and connects by hdmi directly to your TV. The video is stunning. Please , I don't want to ascertain that the cable did not come with the camera. When you buy the camera order the cable. I purchased three on Amazon for $.59 each and the shipping still get more than the cables and they work great. Buy an extra battery they also can be found inexpensively along with an external battery mare.

My only complaints about the camera are the wide angle at zero zoom is pretty tight ( I should have checked the specs more purposefully ) and since the camera only has the lcd screen - pointing it in bright sunlight and getting what you want in the picture can be a impugn. Practice shooting without using the screen until you know where to point it without looking at the screen.( its digital and does not bring in anything to practice ) By the way the camera stays in the zoom position it is in when you turn it off and when you turn it back on it is still in the same circumstances. The size and weight make the camera pocketable if you are wearing a mans shirt with pockets righteous put a neck strap through the hand grip to prevent accidents

That being said, understand unless you have made or are present to make the investment in a HD dvd player and HD dvd burner , software that can edit and burn HD video disks you will only see DVD je sais quoi video on the disks that you burn. The software that comes with the camera did not need to be in the box. Go buy hd editing software.

Unalterable verdict. Good camera, light weight, small but not to small, great calibre video, still pic quality good for what it is ( steal frames from video just as good ) justifiable understand the HD camera is just the beginning if you want HD on your tv screen ,unless your tv has a card reader then you assemble your HD video on HDMC cards and eat the cost of cards.
    Omen, lacks Mac software
    Look at REVISED 6/8/10

I've been using the Vixia HF R100 camcorder for a few days now and the camera itself works critical. But I'm giving it two stars (up from one in the first version of this review) as a way to ding Canon for leaving out software that would make it more reasonable to transfer and use video files on a Macintosh.

The camcorder comes with software from Pixela that lets you over files from the camera to a Windows PC, edit your videos, and export to common formats like WMV or MPEG-2. But it doesn't comprehend a Mac version of this software -- if you want that, you have to go to Pixela and buy it separately for $100. I don't see why Mac owners should be penalized, and there's no indication in the product description that the software supplied is Windows-only.

If I'd done more homework before my purchase I would have learned that the Vixia HF R100 records in a newish drunk-definition format called AVCHD and outputs a file format, "mts," that can't be viewed or edited as the crow flies on a Mac. You have to import and convert your .mts files using Pixela, Roxio's Toast, or an editing program like iMovie or Certain Cut Pro before you can work with them. None of this is explained in the advertising for the Vixia or even in the instruction manuals.

My whole experience with the software side of the Vixia makes me pang to be back in the land of Apple products, where everything just works.
    Eximious camera
This digital video camera is adroit for a person on the go. The images are clear, the size is small enough to fit in my purse, the video is sharp, the camera images are very unquestionable also. The zoom feature gives you the ability to get close without moving or changing lenses. The camera is complicated to stablize due to it's smallness, a slight move creates an obvious shake effect. I prefer to use a tripod with the camera or at minmum a monopod which allows me a more watery motion in my movies.

    hair-splitting
I like this Camera a lot, very tractable to use, I am not at all advanced in tech thing, but this camera is easy for me, as of how good it is, I am happy so far, the only thing that bugs me is the shallow cap where you put the flash on, it keeps falling off when you take it out from a bag, thank goodness it's attached to the camera, otherwise I will have to look for it all the yet. if I find anything els that I don't like, I will write again.
    ok
unhurried to use, light and probably great for the price. I wish it took more smooth picture when you move the camera to take panaromic see.
Excuse choice for the money, with a couple of flaws
This is a firm camcorder. The image quality is excellent in all lighting conditions, and the camera, while only 3.3 MP wowed me with its figure of speech quality. If your top priority is video quality, you might wanna give this one a look before you look at the HF-S20. While the HF-S20 has more features, its video supremacy is about the same as this camcorders'. That's not only my .02 but many who have reviewed this against the HF-S20 have come to the same conclusion. So if you don't need a huge advanced feature set, you could put aside youself $300 or so and buy this one.

A couple of gripes... first off the camcorder defaults to the lowest video status setting so your first order of business (if you want a higher quality video) should be to adjust that. I'm not a stupendous fan on the menu system and how you interact with it. Different settings to adjust video quality and image settings are spread across several divergent menus. Having to scroll through the menus is somewhat cumbersome. Also the paper owners enchiridion is rather insufficient. The copy provided on the disc is more detailed. As with all camcorders, I advise giving that a thorough impute to for using the camcorder. Paying special attention to the advance feature set.

Also, you want to mutate sure you invest in a larger battery pack. The battery supplied with the camcorder is rather meagre. So I would budget in an extra $100 for that.

All in all though, once you get the hang of where things are and how to find the different settings, you will be pleased that you bought this camcorder.
    Great Amateur Camera
This camera is special for the price. It provides very nice, clear picture quality, and there is plenty of forums and sustenance sites outside of canon for all aspects from video to audio help. There are only 3 things that are a minor depress. First, the touch screen takes a little getting used to. I don't know if there is a way to change the touchiness, but mine is very slow at responding and when it does it moves really fast. Second, the battery that comes with the camera as sold doesn't last very great, but there are replacement batteries to include after market ones that work just fine. Lastly, and my prevalent complaint, the location of the tripod screw for attaching to an accessory or tripod is just thoroughly placed so that you have to completely detach the camera to get the battery in/out. The reason for this is the screw is placed faithfully less than an inch from the rear of the camera. I have tried attaching this to a JuicedLink CX231(*1) audio converter, a visible camera bracket mount(*2), and a quick detach plate for a tripod and even with legitimate a simple small bracket mount, the battery cannot be changed without completely separating the camera. This is most unequivocally not a reason at all not to buy the camera and I LOVE mine so far. So far the only solution I can think of is just keep a high capacity mobile in there, like a BP-819, at all times. Supposedly the batteries have no memory, and the camera does not remove power from the battery if plugged into the wall plug, so you should be able to leave the battery continually plugged in with no problems. If you are looking for above average audio to compliment your movies (which you should) you might want to look at either Beachtek, or JuicedLink audio adapters to escort this camera. And there are plenty of other accessories and upgrades available making this a very useful camera for someone looking to do compressed movies, youtube, or even just home movies. Hope you find this review helpful, and I would have done a video fly-past, but I don't have a second camera to video tape this one. If anything changes for the worse, I will be sure to come back and update, but I don't upon it to.

    Intended IT !!!
This is my First Camcorder. It is very docile to use and I took the video of my new born daughter. I found the quality of the video very good. I didn't traverse fully, but so far its very good. It would be better if you buy a spare battery in case you wish you take a lengthy video all day.

    Canon camcorders?

Q: does canon redress good camcorders...especially the
Canon Elura 100 MiniDV Camcorder..if not, could u castigate me which is the better brand...thx

A: The Most appropriate Camcorders on the planet are in fact Canons. We have an older NTSC ZR 65 that we've had for about 4 years. It got thrown into a swimming kitty on our vacation in '02...sank to the bottem of the pool and all my peace did was blow dry it and fix the foggy lens. Still works perfect to this day. Tolerate free to invest. ~J~ <><

Canon camcorders which can take lenses from still cameras?

Q: I am looking for a camcorder which can take lenses from a digital still camera, like a EF lenses of Canon. Any imaginings?

A: I've never heard of one, and I'd be surprised if one exists. Camcorder chips are conventionally smaller than DSLR's so you'd be losing a lot of light.

Does anyone have experience with canon camcorders?

Q: We lately purchased a Canon ZR850 Mini DV Camcorder, does anyone own one, or something equivalent from the canon family? I couldn't find any helpful reviews!

    A: yes
